There was a story in the UK about a woman who murdered her husband for taking away her PS3, and she had no mental illness or previous proof of having any.
This kid sounds messed up and murdering someone seemed inevitable, it's such a shame.

Sickening.
Kid is probably better off being put to permanent sleep. Fucking psychopath.
More likely a sociopath as they are easily agitated by small things such a confiscated PlayStation and will do things without thought for the consequences, while a psychopath would've planned it out

OT:Looks every mother on the planet will be raging against violent games( not that they already didn't, ) looks like Australia is even more screwed.

I blame the videogame industry. Abusing other peoples addictions is not funny.

Let me get this straight. People really feel that it was because of the PLAYSTATION that this kid killed his mom. I'm YOUNGER than this fucking brat and I would never kill my mom if she took my goddamn PlayStation away.

Note: Incidents like this are the reason video-games are seen as bad and some people will actually try to blame the game itself, not the whackjob who killed his mother.

Chair leg and claw hammer? +1 for originality.
His parents are also to blame since they were unable to talk to him.

i can just see this turning into a 'big victory' for anti-video game campaigners, when we should be looking more at how the kid is obviously mentally ill

You know, when I was a kid, my console was taken away all the time, and often with good reason. Either I was playing it way too much and damaging my health, or I hurt myself in frustration or broke things when constantly failing on a video game. I took the punishment though, and reconciled with myself, learning from the mistakes I made. Now, adolescents and kids think it's acceptable to do whatever the fuck they want in response to any form of punishment. I wouldn't even fathom the possibility of me ever hurting anybody over anything, but this kid thought it was alright to murder the reason he is alive. These vapid, disrespectful adolescents just walk all over us now. Really, it has nothing to do with video games, more a fundamental lack of discipline.

You can always get another PlayStation. You cannot get another mom. Instead of killing her to stop the arguing, he should have left the home and maybe blew off some steam. Now his mom's dead and he's going to prison for a long time, and there are no PlayStations in there.

I agree. However, they shouldn't be looking to politicize this. This had nothing to do with video games and everything to do with mental instability. The games WERE the trigger, but not the root cause.

Still, Faxed News will probably have a field day misinforming people about this story.

*shakes head sadly*

We're clearly dealing with a very sad and troubled individual. I hope that they at least make an effort to psychologically assess and treat the poor guy.
I'm appalled as everyone else, but I think anyone who would ever do such a thing is indeed deeply disturbed.
