Well, looks like this is my cue to go cry myself to sleep over the sheer stupidity of my species. Good night everyone!

Hunh... I could make a Philly joke (being from Pittsburgh), but it seems in extremely bad taste.

So I'll say this. I can wonder what went through his head when he htought about this. Also, this is why we need to hit our kids. If they dont fespect (fear-respect) you, this is what happens.
Fear and respect are not interchangeable.

EDIT: Quoted myself for some reason... Fixed.
Not how I was taught, but I grew up in a military family.
English is not my native language, but is interchangeable being applied correctly here? Doesnt seem so from the definitions I read. Anyway in my old ethics and psycology classes in university, fear and respect are the opposite in relations of power between people.

OT: Another fucked up kid. Now he will spend life in jail most likely without any1 to visit him. And I hope he is not allowed to play any videogame there.

i'm sure the kid had issues to begin with prior to the whole "omg my playstation is gone now you will die" debacle
That's my thoughts also, no one just "snaps" from losing a console like that, sure I'd get annoyed if someone took my console that I PAID FOR, but beatings and murder and burning your own mother? good god...

....Wha the fuck is wrong with that kid?

Just because his playstation got confiscated he killed his mom? Over the top reaction...

Instead of killing his mom he could have went to friends and played...

Damn and I was feeling good today too.

Someone is going to invariably blame violent video games for this, but I'm guessing there's some deeper psychological issues involved here.

Well, that sucks.
We should probably keep him away from Bulletstorm, though. We don't want him turning into a murderer and a rapist.
[Clap clap clap] Good Call

But still how does a 16 year old lack common sense

Killing People=BAD
Killing your Mum over a Video Game console = Devil incarnation

I hope he Rots in a Cell

This is Awful! How could someone do something like that...
I didn't need those Images in my head, The sad truth is, The mother may be Responsible. She must have raised him or disciplined him wrong in some way, Maybe there was no discipline.
The Media is going to blame Video Games, When everyone knows the Parents Raise the Kid.

That all sounds really bad, but what is a claw hammer? I never seen one of those.
Well I'll put this down to bad parenting, if you never made it clear to your kids what ending someone life means then sh*t is bound to go bad.

Then again in US even cops gun down everyone they don't like so maybe there needs to be a "What it means to kill" class for that in school.

*avoids tasteless joke*

Thank god I managed that.

Anyway, it's sad and makes me terrified to have kids. Or even be married. My god, the people you should trust and feel safe around the most are the ones to kill you.

I'm just overly pissed about the intelligence level of the human gene pool, and it seems...

*peers into the distance*

I can already see that the pool has now become many puddles of sporatic brain activity. This story does nothing to stem that anger in me from rising.

An interesting note, it's kinda wild how no one in the media nowadays has taken to counting how many times they've reported on BLAMING THE TOOL without BLAMING ITS CREATORS first, you know? I wonder how they explained Billy the Kid's attitude and actions back then? Over-obsessing stickball? And what about The Crusades, or The Spanish Inquisition or tens of other religious based "activities" like that? But, the one thing that seriously pisses me off to no end, besides people who do not possess the mental capactiy to care for, let alone give birth to, children is...

<spoiler=The one argument I have YET to see made ANYWHERE>
Before any, ANY video game was ever CREATED and shown to the public, the human race has had TWO FRIGGIN WORLD WARS! And I'm pretty sure the cause of THOSE wasn't that someone got pissed over not seeing that striaght line block in Tetris for over 3 hours. Guaran-fucking-teed.

Urrrrrgh. *ahem* (-.-)>[~] Kirby has offered you tissues so as you cry yourself to sleep, you can make sure that no one can accuse you of wetting the bed.

Also, judging by the kid's statement, "she was the only person who cared for me," it's clear the he has some social issues.

I feel as if there are too many articles relating violent acts in real life with videogames (like this one) but they fail to clarify that the videogames were not the sole cause of the violent act in the first place. More people should familiarize themselves with the phrase "Correlation does not imply causation."

"I couldn't stand the arguing," Lucke said, reading the youth's statement.

Arguing...

Not mom taking my stuff. So the Playstation links this to videogames when this disturbed youth would have done the same if it was to take out the trash, come home early, leggo my eggo...

Parents nag, normally wanting the best, and sometimes skewing a good intention...

But if -arguing- was the trigger, the console was not the reason for this... lots of pent up anger and obviously a mentally instability built on it...

It's like trying to say a murdering, rapist, child skinning, cannibalistic loon was only motivated to snap because he listened to Justin Beiber.

Bad taste in music yes, but you look at the other problems...that was the least of that persons flaws...

Thanks so much. You're really doing the image of the gaming community favours by doing shit like this. I mean, ffs.
Ugh. Dick.

Well that's something. Unfortunately I doubt many people will acknowledge that. Because it's easier to blame games than *Le Gasp!* actual family problems! :O

Or a rapist murderer.

But this is just bad for the gamer society if someone picks this up...
