Yes, there really are 2 dollar bills [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_two-dollar_bill].

I have recently started collecting them. I currently have 2 - one I've had for a while, and one I recently got at work (trading it out of my drawer for 2 one dollar bills). I don't think they're very valuable now (well, more than $2) but hopefully they will be some day if I hold onto them long enough.

Have you (Americans) out there in Escapy-Land seen or heard of a $2 bill before? Did you think it was fake (there are a couple funny stories in that wikipedia article about cashiers thinking they're counterfeit)? Do you have any?

There are people who don't know they exist? My grandfather had a bunch, a few passed onto me when he passed. I've also received some when I worked retail (you have to check to see if they're fake or not, though).

Loads of people don't know they exist. I know a few people going to America soon and I've asked them to try and get me one, just for fun.

A 3 dollar bill would be pretty cool too.
I've got 3 pence coins at home as well as a pristine Iraqi banknote with a picture of Saddam Hussein on it... Somewhere..
Should be worth some in a few years.

If anyone wants to swap 2 dollars for 2 quid, give me a shout ;P

Well, in the drawers where I work, there are five slots for bills - $1, $5, $10, $20, and one that's usually empty (50's and 100's go under the drawer with the checks), so I just stuck it in that last one. And I had never noticed before I got the $2 bill, but there's a setting on our counting machines for weighing them.

Well, they are pretty rare I guess. The two that I have are the only ones I've ever seen. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have never seen them before, and so don't even know they exist.

Here's the problem with $2 bills. Everyone thinks that they're rare. The truth is, they are still being made, but every time someone finds one, they take it home and put it in a drawer. I believe I had one from 2007 or 2008 (I can't remember which).

Yeah, I had the same problem when I worked retail at a resort. I just stuck them under my $1s, or swapped 'em out with money from my own wallet.

I believe strip clubs make frequent use of them, and so do some casinos. Kind of made me inwardly chuckle whenever disheveled guests would use them to pay for stuff in the morning (usually before a meeting.)

I have 5 of them, and I am yet to figure out if they are legal tender still. I probably wouldn't use them anyways, they are funting legendary.

Holy shit some people must be dumb. They were only discontinued like, 4 years ago.
Actually, I just found out they are legal tender. And they are still around ever since a whole shit load of them were found in a barn or something.

I've got a ton of them. I'm dutifully saving them all, as well as a slew of other odd monies or foreign monies for a future wherein I'm living in a cardboard box and I need to hire someone to off me out of mercy because I have no arms or legs and the vermin are getting pesky. But in all seriousness, they're more like uncommon, not really rare. I've only got one old dollar coin. That thing is huge. It's like... 4 cm/1.5 in across. The newer dollar coins are all about an inch/2.5 cm. Alright, a half inch doesn't mean the difference between mediocrity and paradise but it's like looking at the moon on the horizon; it just looks bigger. Or something. I'ma shut up now. -_-'

I have a couple of $1 and $2 Canadian bills. Those are rare(ish)! Our smallest increment is $5 bills.

I'd prefer $1 and $2 bills over the coins, though. They make my wallet heavy.

:(

They were not discontinued, they are still legal tender. They don't get printed often, but they're not being phased out either.

Oddly enough my parents have 3 dollar bills.
Wiki says 3 dollar bills are counterfeit or jokes =]
Have you noticed anything unusual about your printer?
