Canada has 2 dollar coins. We are cooler.
Hah! Twonies!

But really $2 bills are not rare just go to a bank and ask for $100 in 2's and they will give them to you. Banks usually use them to avoid odd numbers, that's what a friend of mine who works for a bank told me at least. And they still do make a $1000 bills, large corperations and financial institutions use them for moving around alot of money, they just don't realease them to the public.

When I worked as a bank assistant manager a coworker and I would order 100 $2 bills, divvy them up ($100 worth each) into our cash tills, and see who could foist them off on the customers the fastest. Loser bought the winner lunch.

Best strategy seemed to be telling the customer "I'm out of fives" then giving them two deuces and a single. Strangely, the coffee shop up the street, when they did their merchant deposit, would frequently have piles of $2 bills---clearly our little scheme at the bank was helping his sales of $1.69 ($1.81 with Nevada sales tax) cups of coffee! He said "whatever you guys are doing, keep it up, it's been good for business!"

EDIT: This post was #2222 for me. Freaky.

I'm in Australia and I still have the Australian $1 and $2 notes, they're still legal tender too. No note or coin in decimal currency has been demonetized yet, so, if any Australians have 1c and 2c coins, use them, just because they're not in being made anymore, doesn't mean you can't use them.

On another note, I have a friend with a 20 Royal note, never been touched by human hands. For anyone not familiar with the Royal, it's what was going to be in place instead of the dollar, but they decided to ditch it, never went into circulation, never became tender, but he has one, and no-one can decide between worthless and priceless.

I have 1, though I used to have 2 of them (my second one went to my sister when she was born).

I've known about them for a while, but I think they're kind of pointless.
One of my coworkers would habitually ask for hundreds of dollars in $2 bills when he went to the bank.
Needless to say we wouldn't let him go to the bank often.
Banks have huge stores of them, for some reason.

Unless the bill is VERY rare (which these aren't) bill collectors will never have an interest in them unless they are in perfect condition, no marks, folks, creases, etc. If your bills aren't perfect, they will never be worth more than $2. If they are perfect, in 50-100 years they will be worth more.
Thanks for crushing my hopes and dreams *sob*

Nah, I didn't really have my hopes up about them being valuable. I do see them very rarely, though, so I just think it's kind of cool when I do get my hands on one.

2 dollar bills are legal tender and still printed you just don't see them often because nobody spends them. and since nobody spends them people think they are rare and hold on to them and the cycle continues.

I've got a couple of those, too. I'm holding on to them for a rainy day, since how many of those are gonna end up in Canada? Maybe we Canucks will hoard them all.

Loads of people don't know they exist. I know a few people going to America soon and I've asked them to try and get me one, just for fun.

A 3 dollar bill would be pretty cool too.
I've got 3 pence coins at home as well as a pristine Iraqi banknote with a picture of Saddam Hussein on it... Somewhere..
Should be worth some in a few years.

If anyone wants to swap 2 dollars for 2 quid, give me a shout ;P
I've got a whole roll of 'em lying around somewhere, so I'd be happy to trade. But you do realize that your 2 quid is actually worth more like 3 dollars, right?
But people don't think £2 coins don't exist.
Just checking. :) If you're serious, drop me a PM so we can set something up.

$2 bills are about the only thing my grandfather carries, it seems. He likes to pay with them because supposedly it confuses the people at the check out or some vague reason like that. He also like to give them out a Christmas, I have 5 of them from years past.
