Wasn't that one game... Morrowwind the 3rd or somethin?
From what I've heard it seems like it would be a step up from the one before it, if nothing else.

Personas 3 and 4 are two of my favourite games ever.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

...Blackadder 2 is the best series.

Dualism and synchronicity exist all things in existence. Everything has a counterpart and everything has a double. 2 is the ultimate number because it is a part of and is divisible by everything. The only thing that isn't divisible by 2 is an odd number, but there are an equal number of odd numbers as there are even numbers, so odd numbers and even numbers are counterparts to each other, proving the theory true by proving it false!

Edit: Oh yeah, this is a game discussion.
Uhm...
I actually liked MGS 2. The end, anyway.

I can think of plenty of games where the best one was 2. (although most of them are older). Worms 2, Magic Carpet 2, Castles 2 (yeah these are old games), Oregon Trail 2 (all of the ones after this game are terrible). But of course, there a lot of great games that are the third or higher in the series. And the 2nd game doesn't automatically mean its great (*cough* Legend of Zelda: Link's Adventure, or whatever it was called *cough*)

Metal Gear Solid 2 was pretty much terrible (and not just because of Raiden.) But 4 was the best/second best in the series (Thought # 1 was the best, myself.)
Where is exactly MGS2 faulty where MGS1 isn't?
Well, for starters you have to go to a computer console and get your radar back every time you enter a new area (and it's hard to sneak to said console when you can't tell where the enemies are.) Secondly, I thought it had possibly the most awkward control scheme of all time
(So, L2 and R2 switch my weapon and item? Ok. Wait, I have to use them to look around corners too? Uhh... Wait, so you use them to lean left and right while in first person? Why do I have to hold square to use my gun? And why doesn't it shoot until I release? I'm pretty sure that isn't how it works. God damn it, why do I have to use the left analog stick to aim? I could go on...)
MGS3 had the same problem. Thirdly, the bosses look like they belong in a Spiderman comic. The plot was... Well, it didn't make a lick of sense (even compared to other games in the series.) And finally, Rose is the most annoying character I've ever had the displeasure of listening to.

I've got other reasons, but I think you get the point. MGS1 was just easier to play, not as retarded, and it didn't have Rose.

I have lost count of how many boss you had to beat by doing such and such three times. Although there is a mixture between 3 and 2. halo 3, forza 3, assassins creed 2, dirt 2, KOTOR 2... It's a mixture so... 36 is still my favourite number, purley because it's a system of a down song...
So catchy...NOW WILL YOU LIVE AT YOUR OWN PACE!

I guess I'll agree with the OP since most of my favourite sequels are the second in a series like Vandal Hearts 2 and Shining Force 2.

I honestly can't see how a taste of more realistic sneaking a few times is a bad thing. It's not like the nodes were that hard to reach and I found it only a refreshing challenge. You do sometime wonder how well you'd without all that visual aid that makes you and the enemy patrols compare like an eagle and a mole.

Secondly, I thought it had possibly the most awkward control scheme of all time

It was hard, I admit that, but nothing unlearnable. The only thing that was pretty much impossible to do was holding a hostage and effectively shooting with a pistol at the same time. It doesn't take that long to learn the controls however, maybe 2 hours and you pretty much know it all.
Not exactly a selling point, I know, but I think I take more features than easy controls.

MGS3 had the same problem. Thirdly, the bosses look like they belong in a Spiderman comic. The plot was... Well, it didn't make a lick of sense (even compared to other games in the series.)
Excuse me now, but...

I think I rest my case.

Almost all conversations with Rose were optional, skippable and not part of the plot. This is more like pet-peeve, small annoying thing, but hardly any too relevant part of the bigger picture.

And really, it's not like every conversation with her was painfully annoying to listen, and if they were, you could skip 'em. I'm pretty sure all the important ones were plot introduced anyway.

But that's the thing: It's not realistic. If it was, I'd be able to see more than two feet in front of me. Basically, I wouldn't mind so much if the camera actually let me look around.

You don't. I didn't say it was grounded in realism, it's just less stupid than 2. At least none of them are vampires.

If the number 2 is so great, WHAT HAPPENED WITH DEVIL MAY CRY 2?! I'm afraid your duality is not universal.

NOTE: All of this is subjective
FFX-2 was crap, but KH2 was awesome-sauce. Ratchet and Clank 2 was my favourite out of the series, but Killzone 2 was a piece of crap. The second generation Pokemon games were the best, but I didn't like Jak 2. I absolutely loved Golden Sun 2, but I hated ... I don't think I have played any more '2' games sooooo .... *insert a '2' game you hated here*

OT: The number 2 is only magical if you don't add a love or hate implication to the term (key word OR). If you mean magical as in either exceedingly good or exceptionally bad, then yes, the number 2 is indeed magical.

FPS view? You still have much, much better view of the playing field than the guards do. Don't say you honestly got frustrated at those parts? They weren't that hard, you only needed to move around more carefully.

Vamp wasn't a vampire, nor it was never said he was or that the blood sucking did anything for him. Snake even explains you where he got the freaky habit from (and his name).

How is he more stupid than Raven or Mantis, exactly? It's not like MGS exactly ever took itself that seriously with all its super-villain enemies.

Yeah, this children here is called "overreaction".

But in all seriousness, I find it mostly funny that she annoyed you that much or that it prevented you from enjoying the game.

PS. Though you did not mention the controls again, I did myself forgot to add that I played MGS1 with pretty much the same scheme (Twin Snakes) and it didn't bother me with that game either.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (second game). A resounding failure by most people (I'm not most people.) Your thread has thusly been disproved.

READ: "Prince of Persia: Warrior Within"

does it say "Prince of Persia 2"?
no. it way be the second game, but there is no "2"

you have been disproved.

Yeah, but then, their view of the playing field isn't very far, due to the whole "We only hire henchmen with sight issues" thing. It was just too zoomed in for me, I couldn't tell what was going on. But mayhap I'm just a n00b.

I realize he isn't technically a vampire. But he acts like one. And his name is 'Vamp.'
Both of those things qualify him as "pretty pathetic" in my book. At least Praying Mantis doesn't go around pretending he's a bug. And suggestively licking knives.

I didn't like Twin Snakes either. I'm talking about the real MGS1.

Also, any idea why they changed everyone's accent?

He was supposed to be creepy like that and his habits are probably inspired by vampires. Whether he was succesful in the creepiness is subjective. His voice actor was still pretty good either way.

And actually his name is because he's bisexual, make of that what you will.

It's practically the same game with PS2 level gameplay and updated cinematics (some cooler, some just ridiculous, at least for that character, usually Snake[footnote]He's supposed to be rather a badass normal than Neo, don't you think?[/footnote]). I suppose the removal of accents would annoy someone who heard the characters with them first, but it's all the same or the opposite for someone who played TS first. Many people will point out however that it didn't make any sense that Mei Ling had an accent in the first place, which is probably why they had her speak without it.

Don't remember whether if Naomi character had an accent, but her voice sounded pretty bored to revise the role (Jennifer Hale usually does a solid job though). Other than her, there seems to be very little difference in the voice acting, for better or worse.

Yeah...that's pretty good. Assassin's Creed 2, Saint's Row 2, Fable 2 (Fuck off, haters!), Super Metroid (Which I believe is basically Metroid 2).
