I don't really *care* about it, but I do like it. I also like achievements/trophies because sometimes they represent a "betcha can't" challenge that I take personally as a gamer and must prove that I can. I'm at about 29k now, with about 60ish games and 3 maxed games (COD4, ME1, ME2). I enjoy trophies as well, but not as much. I expect to eventually finish off the Platinum trophy for Demon's Souls.

Why "not as much" for trophies? Probably because of the very slight difference in that the 360 accumuluates totals with gamerscore. It seems silly and it is, but it doesn't mean I don't think it's the better choice between MS Gamerscore, PS Trophies, and Steam Achievements. Given the 3, I would go with the gamerscore model.

I remember when I first got my PS3, I took a look at the list of trophies for GTA4 after completing the main story, and thought... fuck that and went on ebay to buy Resident Evil 5.

Ehh, I like to have high gamerscore, and enjoy hitting new milestones, but I won't push myself through any unnatural pain for GS. Currently at 23,182.

100% in:
Assassin's Creed 2
Oblivion (incl. DLC)

Really close in a lot of others, only missing a few DLC achievements for Borderlands, same with FO3, just need to get a few more in both ME1 & 2.

Hopefully soon I'll be able to get 1000 for MW2 but getting someone to play Spec Ops at the same time that you want can be a pain.
Don't you have me on your friend's list?
I'd love to play Spec ops! Nobody I know plays that!
And we're on the same time-zone (I think)!
Add me up, homeslice!

On topic: I think I have around 25,000.
I never actively went for achievements, except for games I really love: Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Oblivion come to mind.
The 'online' achievements I can't really be bothered with.

I'm sitting at 16,265. I love unlocking achievements. I wish they served some sort of purpose though heh.
Actually, the smarter games do. I enjoyed in ME1 getting achievements that gave me bonuses in game or in future playthroughs. I wish more games did that.

I was referring to the points themselves. They should serve as some sort of currency on xbox live heh.
Ahh, yes. There should be some sort of epeen avatar add-on that you can "buy" with gamerscore points. That would be an easy and simple addition and why not?

Bah, I hate achievements. GFWL just gets in the way of playing games. Worst thing to happen to PC gaming since really bad ports.

But yeah, every achievement I have was pretty much ignored. I seemed to get one every five minutes on DoWII. Waster of time.

I have one achievement I'm actually proud of and that's the one for driving from one side of the map to the other in FUEL.

360 thing right? Not sure if there is a PSN equivalent, nor do I really care. I play games for entertainment, and am rarely online.
uh...trophies??

i've seen a few people say this, is it really that hard to figure out? trophies/gamerscore/achievements, they are all over the place just a little different named
They are the same. Any multi plat game has the same achs or trophies as it's counterpart. Getting a plat on PSN is the equivalant of getting 1000 in a 360 game. The only difference really is how the scores are tallied. PSN has a levelling system and XBL has a numbered score system. And I love both (although I love XBL more).

I do sometimes, hell right now I'm playing through ME2 on Insane to get the achievements. A lot of my games are either nearly 1000'd or are. For example, ME2 only has 3 achievements left, the Orange box has 13 (The harder ones mostly, but it's not bad when there are 99 of them), AC2 has only 2, and Bioshock 2 only has 5.

And congratulations. I just recently broke 40,000 myself after completeling ME2 on normal.

Almost 40,000 points now. Something like 39,500. I've completed Dash of Destruction, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth, and Oblivion.
All these games you get all 1000 ponts for beating the game except avatar.

You can get all 1000 points in that one in less than 2 minutes.
I try to do the best I can in games, purpossely going after achievements. Its fun. I have a group for it.
