I was only joking, but thanks for the footage!Cry Wolf said:It wasn't. =D Skip ahead to about half way, you'll see it was pretty stable, all things considered.mooncalf said:Those screens are actual-framerate I'll bet.
Played it myself for a while and I did get some interesting stories out of it, it's just a really slow burn, you can't even call it a grind, it's like having a flower garden and taking pride in keeping out the weeds and making everything look pretty and making sure no insects come to spoil the party.GunsmithKitten said:I gotta admit, EVE makes for some damned great stories and testimonies.
Are you thinking of this maybe? Or maybe it was before then even. Most weeks only 2-3 super-caps at all get taken outCry Wolf said:I seem to remember a year ago (or perhaps two >.>) seing ~12 Titans lost in a single fight. The main power houses are extraordinarily rich these days.
It's not that bad, in fact if you work for a big alliance they'll just straight up give you money. Almost no-one who lost a ship in this battle will actually have to buy it back because their alliance will foot the bill for them. And the alliances make money from all their members from stuff like ratting and mining, so they don't need real money (but the idea is, if someone wanted to turn all that ISK into real money, they could have done if the chose)deviltry said:There's still a problem, if you want to be a part of such massive battles, you have to work in EVE. And don't get paid.
Like people here posting how much real money it has costed...

No thank you.TrevHead said:Whoever takes EVE's depth and high stakes gameplay and puts them into a more action based game will take the world by storm.
The video is actually sped up 90% hence why you hear him stop talking. he was only getting 10 fps from how overloaded the servers were. that video you see there was over 4-5 hours.Cry Wolf said:mooncalf said:Those screens are actual-framerate I'll bet.

EVE Online is a game for insane grinders and virtual tycoons, and I won't even put a toe into that game. But man, just watching these players...
The Rifter had a use beyond looking AWESOME? I piloted one because I loved its design and that was the only reason!FelixG said:Actually in the CFC and HBC I know of atleast newbies can spend about a week training into a ship known as a Rifter and are very valuable in PVP for fleets like this.barbzilla said:Same here, I think it is the barrier to entry issue. You have to spend at least a month getting yourself set up to run anything of value in the game and you are bored to tears the entire time (or at least I was). They are known as "Rifterbros" and people will shower them with millions of isk (In game money) just for being new. When I joined my corporation I said "OMG A TITAN!" in my first big combat, and I made half a billion dollars because people thought I was so cute.
...damn. And here I just sailed it because I liked the rocking motion. And the twin prows. What race did those ships belong to - the scrappy looking ones I meanFelixG said:Rifters are generally considered to be the best frigates at that level, they are decently tough, hit hard and are good tacklersThyunda said:The Rifter had a use beyond looking AWESOME? You can't get in as a Goon unless your SA though right? And I assume TEST are the same with redditt. Are there other alliances that a newbie friendly? And how hard is it to hook up with people? I don't have a good track record of meeting up with other ppl in my MMO experience and thats whats always held me back, because it seems like unless you do find other people to play with, you're missing most of the good experiences of EVEHagi said:It's not that bad.
Most corporations, especially specialized ones like EVE university, will go out of their way to help new members.
How new you are doesn't really matter as long as you understand the basic gameplay (which is quite complicated). What matters is having friends.
Hell, a major turning point of EVE was the Goons (newcomers with lots of friends) beating Band of Brothers (the old and connected) by basically swamping them with tons of newish players in cheap ships.
That's not to say EVE's for everyone. It's obviously not. But being new isn't nearly the disadvantage many believe it to be.
If you're totally new the corporation I'd suggest would be EVE university. The corp itself will teach you all you need to know about gameplay, PvP, industry and everything else plus you get lots of free stuff to make starting out a lot easier and once you've been shown the ropes there's several larger alliances that recruit directly from EVE uni.BrotherRool said:You can't get in as a Goon unless your SA though right?
