...and all I could do was sit back in my chair and applaud as the credits rolled in. I don't think I've ever been as thoroughly impressed by a video game as I have been by this one. It fits together perfectly... The gameplay, the story, the characters... It's all just seamlessly intertwined in one big bag of awesome.
The question I pose to you guys is if you've ever had a moment, at the end of a game, when all you could think was "fuck, that was excellent" (or words to that effect :p)
Have you played the episodes as well?
I'm about to :p
dude finish episode 1 & 2 soon, the ending of the second one is one of those endings which you have to see.
I finished episode 1 last night in about 5 hours? Probably less, it was pretty good although after hl2 it was a bit jarring, especially seeming as I expected it to go for longer. I guess it is an episode though, and coupled with ep 2 which I will finish tonight, it's a combined effort.

COD4. the ending was like a movie and captured the feeling of being pulled from the edge of death.

I know its a strange game to be saying it was phenominal but it was IMO

I couldn't really think of a game's ending that made me not want more...

Even though Kane and Lynch had the most sh!te ending I had ever seen I still wanted to know what happens next since it did cut the game off very abruptly.

Same game. I had heard about it, and even had a copy that came with the Orange Box, but never got around to playing it. When I finally sat down and finished it in one go, I was amazed. It had humor, a good story, likable characters, nice changes of scenery, disturbing elements (oh god Ravenholm, WHY!?), and great gameplay.

I could only sit back and wonder why I thought the other FPSs I had played were any good at all.

Shadow of Colossus. A bitter sweet end. I knew i'd never see a new behemoth, but the game was still soooo satisfying.
Agreed. it's a shame that SoC came out just as current gen consoles were just arriving. If it had come out earlier I suspect it would have garnered an even greater following.

I apologise, but I do like the irony of the title. The number of people in the world who have been waiting to finish Half Life 2 is astronomical.

And thus we continue to wait.

In no specific order
-Prince of Persia (the first one on the ps2). Dont flame me for ripping off Yahtzee
-Final Fantasy X (pretty much all Final Fantasys were good but I thought this had the best ending)
-Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (what do paramite pies taste like?)
-Zone of the Enders 2 (DINGO!)
-Ace Combat 4 (never have I felt so proud to be a fake airplane pilot)
-Metal Gear Solid (SnAaaaaKE!!)
-Portal (see Prince of Persia)
-Freedom Fighters (another underrated game)
-Vectorman (coolest environmentalist ever)
-Ape Escape (thanks for the dual shock)
-Shadow of Colossus

EDIT: If you're going to disclose plot information, that's ok, but use spoilers!!! Thanks in advance :)
Most certainly, and to answer that, the end of every half life game in the series. Nothing made me feel more at home, than beating those games one by one.

Or maybe a little later and it would have been truly breathtakingly beautiful. I'd have bought a PS3 if it had had Shadow andRatchet on it.
