GoldenEye: Reloaded. In preperation, i'm going to be watching each of the 22 007 films over the coming month in order to ensure that all of Bond's quips are fresh in my mind, so that i never miss the opportunity to throw out a relevant quote while pwning n00bs on the multiplayer mode.

I did this on Treyarch's masterpiece, Quantum of Solace, a lot too... though i'm hoping GoldenEye will offer more opportunity. In QoS, the most i could do is kill someone by shooting some electrical panelling and declaring "shocking, positively shocking" or meleeing someone off a roof and telling him "time to face gravity".

I've also had my tuxedo freshly pressed, and will see to it that my drinks cabinet is stocked with Gordon's gin and some Kina Lillet. I have a couple of bottles of Stolichnaya vodka, so don't need to worry about that.

October 25th is going to be awesome. Especially as most of the retarded members of the FPS community will be busy pew pewing each other on Battlefield, like brutes.

I can't wait.

They already tried this on the last console generation and on steam and neither worked.

shut up... please.

enough with the judging games before they come out.

its a FPS... a reconstructed FPS of an older series... AND IT'S GOLDENEYE FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!

how can this possibly live up to the hype of the former game? how can this possibly not offend everyone who played the old game?

stop judging games that arent released

I still don't get why people jizz in their pants over this game. Sure, GoldenEye was good, but not THAT good...

Uhm, it's a brand new game and it's due out in late October. It's a modernised story and the tone will be changed to suit Daniel Craig's Bond.

GoldenEye 64 wasn't all that great. It was good as an FPS, but as a Bond game... not really. Outside of a few moments, Rambo may as well have been the protagonist.

Quantum of Solace, Nightfire and especially last year's Blood Stone all did a much better job of recreating a 007 experience, as you play each game in a manner less befitting John Rambo and more like James Bond.

I don't understand why anybody would be excited for a remake of GoldenEye. It's not like the game is being made by the original development team and consequently is unlikely to feel anything like the original.

Didn't they already re-make it last year?

It was pretty fun, but I'm not buying a re-make of a re-make.

Although, does this one have Pierce Brosnan?

ALL OF MY MONEY
They are remaking the Wii remake of Goldeneye. The Wii remake that sucked incredibly.

Seriously. A: QoS was an alright game. A fairly average in every way TPS. Not a masterpiece. Goldeneye for the Wii, which this game is a port of, sucked. Majorly. Like, really sucked.

And then you call the Battlefield fans retards. Battlefield is more likely to be played by the more mature players who aren't waiting for MW3.

I played the old game, and while it was good as a first person shooter, it wasn't all that good as a James Bond game -- you played through it a manner more befitting John Rambo than James Bond.

The GoldenEye story is one of my favourites, and i'm excited to see it brought to life again in a modernised setting and with a grittier tone to fit Daniel Craig's portrayal of the character.

Also, recent Bond games have played much more like 007 adventures than GoldenEye 64 ever did. Hence my excitement.

So... shut up yourself.

Quantum of Solace was comfortably the best first person effort to recreate a Bond adventure, for reasons i've already stated.

Blood Stone was even more of a msterpiece, though.

The all-astounding response:

Meh.

Besides, any FPS released in the same year as a Call of Duty or Battlefield title is going to be greatly overshadowed.

Golden Eye? Uh... yeah, that game might have been good in N64 days, but we made much better shooters in the same console generation. I'll save my enthusiasm for a Deus Ex HD remake.

FPS are not inherently sophisticated at all. Right down at the bottom it is point this at the thing until it goes away, Goldeneye is absolutely no exception. There's no finesse, just shoot and don't miss.

I don't care for this game. I played it and didn't come across some magical epiphany about it's brilliance. I thought it was OK but not a game I'd play regularly.

I also immediately hold back points when it is a remake or re-imagining. I don't care that they are revamping it and putting Daniel Craig in. It is called Golden Eye:Reloaded. They have reloaded the game Golden Eye. Not being creative. They are taking an old game giving a fresh lick of paint, a few new features and then asking people to pay for it again.

I don't see what's so special but I guess it's just nostalgia. I don't get why some things become popular. It just seems like another shooter to me with all the normal shooter stuff especially since now it has online support.

Edit:

Sorry. I have to say something about your phrase of "they'll be in battlefield like brutes". In what way does a new game engine with brilliant graphics, destruction physics and being much more advanced in every way make it brutish?

Exactly, halo IMO was a million times better

But for stuff on the same system? Battletanx global assault beats it

It's not "nostalgia" for me. I like that Bond games have been getting more Bond-like over the last 15 year or so.

Also, as a Bond fan, i really enjoyed the way in which Flemming's Casino Royale was modernised for the 2006 film (well, aside from replacing baccarat with Texas Hold Em). I'm looking forward to seeing one of my favourite Bond films getting the same treatment, even if it is only in video game form.

Craig's 007 is far more like Flemming's literary creation than any of the previous Eon actors. I'm excited for this because i'm a Bond fan. Not because i enjoyed GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64.
