The 360 now (after quite a lot of speculation) finally has its Wii-style controller.
It's not directly developed by MS, but I guess they will soon make their own hardware.

What are your thoughts on this? Will it be a succees?

I think in order for it to work they will have to release quite a few games that make the best out of the functions. If they don't I can see hardly anyone trying these.

Well after the avatars this is only the next logical step.
(sorry if someone has brought this up already)

I really can't see anyone designing games around 3rd party hardware. Even if they do make games based around it, all i can see happening is another console falling prey to the vast wealth that comes with developers using the motion sensitive controllers to make crappy little mini games. Sure, you'll get the occasional dev who comes along and makes something truly awesome, but outside of those few its just crappy little casual games to sell to people who've never played anything more complicated than Pong.

Also, I don't know if I just can't see it due to picture angles, but that has no analog sticks of its own, and there doesn't appear to be any place to plug in a peripheral. How many current gen games can you make with no analog sticks? I mean, you could use motion sensing for camera controls, but movement with only the D-Pad? That pretty much eliminates 3D right there. I mean, it's technically possible, but it's just so much easier with a joystick on a peripheral, since right now it's either D-Pad or buttons, not both at the same time.

Wiimote-type controls are an excellent way to control FPS games. Hope they develop one for the PS3.

It's pretty, I wonder how the axes are mapped for things that were never intended to use motion-sensing. I did hear that something of that kind was in development for the 360 but would diverge more from this.

I wouldn't mind as long as they support it properly. Maybe they could make some awesome PSN games to use these.

The PS3 already has the Sixaxis, and I'd actually doubt they would go and develop these anytime soon.

That same controller above is supposed to come out for the PS3 eventually, they're just releasing a 360 version first.

I have only tried them for Red Steel and thought they were decent, but yea the PS3 could use one (otherwise we would have a motion sensor gap, and we wouldn't want that in the console cold-war, would we?)

PS: Lou Reed is fucking awesome
PPS: How did you get that title below your name?

That's mostly because Red Steel was at its best a decent game, and completely failed in the controls department.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 are better examples of how to utilize the Wiimote for First-Person Shooters.

Alright, I guess you have a point. Playing Red Steel scarred me quite a bit though, haven't tried playing an FPS on the Wii since. I definetly felt goog to use the Wii-mote to aim and the trigger to fire, kind of reminded me of the trigger on the N64.

God dammit thats ugly, its probably comfortable but goddamn.
Yea, that's pretty ugly, but it's developed by the same company so I guess it will have the same design only in black.

April Fool's Day anyone?
Well, since it's obviously gotten too predictable to have your April Fool's jokes on the actual day, or maybe the night before, let's just start putting them out in December-ish!
