The Imperium of Man will be a playable race? What a surprise!

I'm actually interested in the Techpriest though, I'm a big fan of the Mechanicum of Mars. I imagine you'll be able to get some "pets" in the form of servitors. That will be cool.

I'm also interested in the possiblity of a Chaos Heretic class. It'll be fun to support the Chaos Gods without having to be a CSM. Perhaps you can make you're Heretic a psyker. :p That will be fun. DOWN WITH THE CARRION GOD!

And of course there are orks. I know I'll want to play as them. WAAAGH! and all that good stuff.

I like how people are saying this isn't newsworthy.

You have just seen Scouts, IG, Marines and TechPriests. Possible classes?

Plus Marines aren't playable from the beginning, according to lead Dev. Guy. They are going to be a hero class. Which works for me.

This title is getting better and better.

I have wanted to play as one of the men on the ground since playing Dawn of War way back when.

Even though I avoid monthly subscription games, this might almost be worth it due to the awesome factor of the setting. I just wish the whole set-up of a monthly subscription didn't revolve around game exclusivity- if I'm playing anything else, then I'm not playing with the time I paid for in the subscription game. If only the Hellgate London model hadn't proved itself impossible to sustain, I'd love to buy and play a standard version even if I'm not getting the new content of the subscriber version... I can justify a one time purchase of a game, with perhaps several smaller purchases of expansion sets to myself with much less guilt than what I felt during my attempts to get into subscription gaming in the past.

Okay, two questions:

1: Why would anyone want to be something that isn't a space marine?

2: Is anyone, anywhere, doing anything surprised by this?
To #1: because while Space Marines have had their sense of fear literally burned out of their brains, the Imperial Guard faces the exact same situations with few modifications and little protection more than a flak vest and an angry flashlight. Space marines are made into badasses, Imperial Guard are born badass.
Iron Man to Rorshach. Imperial guards might be born badass, but they're also born squishy. While from a gamplay perspective I can understand wanting to play the ranged support class (because, let's face it, that's what they're going to be), from a lore stance it makes no sense to want to be anything other than a walking tank.

Inquisitiors would be an awesome class, and certainly one which could fit.

I see Guardsmen -DPS
Techpriest- Buffs
Inquisitor- Debuffs
Space marine - Tank

EDIT: I see ordering exterminatus on a world as a debuff... a big, fucking, debuff. ^_^
You see guardsmen as DPS? There's a reason lasguns are called flashlights. All they need to do for the Guardsmen to be awesome is have it so when you die, you respawn in 3 seconds, 5 feet from where you died.

I want to know why anyone would want to be one.

Did they mention that if you choose Guard you get 20 playable guys versus the one if you go Marine? Because even then, it's not even fair.

Zing!

OT: This is really pointless, we've all seen the trailers, it's pretty obvious who'll be in the game.
