always have a name it makes you stupidly hard to kill, see bioshock 2 for an example of this.
second guns created or found by crazy poeple who just give them to you will ultimitly the best weapon in the universe.
lastly use your kill everything button as much as you can because there is nothing behind that corner stronger then what your fighting now what ever your mind may tell you

Plenty of historical details from the Assassin's Creed series, and lots of facts from Metal Gear Solid (especially the MGS4 database).

There's always a better option.

Shooting games have always taught me the following

-Reload after every engagement, now matter if you only spent a single round... It could save your ass later.

-Aim where your enemy is going to be, not where he or she is.

-Aim down the sights when possible.

-When handling and explosive weapon, aim at your target's feet or wheels.

-Bounce your grenades around corners when possible.

-Just because you have NPCs with you, doesn't mean they'll always cover your back.

-Save the higher caliber stuff for bigger foes.

-Bottle Neck your enemies when possible.

-Flank when possible.

-If the grass moves, it can be a good idea to put a three round burst into it.

Two sides to every coin yadda yadda...

Positive-
1- Talk to everyone. You never know who might help you out later.
2- Be curious and explore. Fascinating things are hidden all throughout the world.
3- There's more than one way to finish a level.
4- Persistence pays off in the end.
5- Everyone can be a gamer with the right game.

Negative-
1- Headsets turn normal people into crazy folk.
2- Fair play is not as important as winning.
3- If you are a woman- shut up and look pretty otherwise you're a fat, lonely, lazy whore.
4- If you are a guy- call everyone names and try to act like a 13 year-old's idea of what a man is.
5- If people liked IP, they're going to love IP's two through ten!

Thanks to Bioshock I've learnt that drinking will give me energy to shoot superpowers but will also fuck with my ability to aim. Also, I'm going to be an alcoholic if I have to fight zombies.
Thanks to many FPSes I've discovered that cowardice is rewarded with a cure to any wounds you may have. Marvel vs Capcom 3 has taught me that to begin with if anything cool or badass occurs it is most likely an accident on your part. Legend of Zelda taught me that even if you're on a mission to save the world you still have to pay for shit (with money you can steal from ordinary people). And finally: Ninja Gaiden taught me that fuck this I'm becoming a Ninja since they're super-powerful, can use magic and can eventually even wield a lightsaber.

FF8, was the first game I ever played that made me actually really like the characters, story and music of a game. I was only a kid back then but no other game will ever make me feel the way FF8 did, and that sucks :(

In brief:

1. Self reliance. No one's gonna beat that boss for me.
2. Teamwork. WoW raiding and most co op games.
3. The value of preparation and planning.
4. Perseverance. Try often enough, and you will succeed, no matter how hard you failed before.
5. Some people are just dicks. Fortunately they can be ignored or laughed at.

1. All Total War games have taught me a wealth of knowledge about that era. (i.e. Shogun-Japan, Medieval-Europe and Empire-1700's)
2. Multiplayer games, no matter how good you may think you are there's always someone better.
3. Battle Chess on the amiga helped me to learn to read.
4. WoW taught me that spending time with friends gaming online is never as much fun as spending time gaming with them in the real world.
5. Mario Kart Wii taught me that not all driving games are rubbish and so I should silence my preconceptions

Umm... When water fills the lake shoot to the morning light? (Joke)

1. Skill is oftern suplimented with luck.
2. Random incounters have taught me that lots of annoying things will happen it *just* the wrong time.
3. Low end graphics are more scary than high fidelity ones.
4. Final Fantasy taught me that beauty can be found in video games.
5. You can cry at the end of a video game. It does actually happen.

There's probably more stuff but that's what I could come up with right now.
