OK.... Liking ballet and wearing pink isn't -that- strange. But nail-polish? Kinda weird for a six year old, either gender involved. While six years old is an age where children begin to cement their identities and this could be one such thing... the stabber seriously needs to be either expelled or have his parents noticeably penalized for their child's actions, even to the extent of removing that child from his (apparently) unfit caretakers. Unfortunately, I can't help but wonder which ethnicities were involved in this.

With that... neither kids involved are being told in a way they understand that what they are doing isn't acceptable nor how people should behave.

Another disturbing thing is the fact that the six year old understood that stabbing someone with a knife-shaped object could injure or kill someone. Where this kid got this knowledge from -must- be brought to light and dealt with.

The Bible says "A fool despises knowledge" so you'd assertion that the Bible teaches against knowledge is flawed.
That's ironic. And no, it isn't flawed, as religion often teaches the rejection of knowledge in place of blind faith and superstition. It's what sets it apart from logic.

The sun orbits the earth = The belief of Greek philosophers for hundreds of years, nothing about that in the Bible.
The earth is the center of the universe = Greeks again, not mentioned in the Bible
Originated with the Greeks, carried on by the Catholic church. And yes, the bible says that the earth is a flat plane set inside a dome that is surrounded by water. We now know it to be round, surrounded by an atmosphere of O-zone and (now) very abundant Chlorofluorocarbons.

Disease caused by demons = Something carried on from Pagan beliefs, now disbanded thankfully
I know I'm right on this one. Saying "God bless you" when somebody sneezes originated from the belief that when you were coughing it was your body rejecting a demon trying to possess you. Also, when you have nightmares it's because the devil is sitting on your chest.

Cursed air = I've never heard of this in my life, and I've been a Christian for all of those 23 years.
It's called the Miasma Theory of Disease, and it includes the thought that disease is spread by foul, unholy air. Many people thought that gas masks (specifically Medico della peste) would prevent them from being sick simply by recycling the air they were currently breathing:

Evolution never happened = I'll go for that, I've researched in to evolution and don't find it a plausable explanation of life. To carry on from that even if it did happen, it's not a direct threat to abrahamic beliefs.
Evolution, first off, is fact. Technically it's just a well-supported theory, but so is gravity, or time. And it's not the explanation for life, it's the explanation for the diversity of life.
Man coexisted with dinosaurs = Another one I've never heard of.
Really? It's one of those ideas that comes up when people start proposing that the earth is only about 6 or 7 thousand years old (which is a load of horse shit). It's pretty popular among people who are almost too stupid to remember to breathe.
There are witches, have you never met someone who practices that stuff? Self-definition = witch
People may call themselves witches but they're just superstitious people who like giving themselves a special name. It's all a bunch of smoke and mirrors, anyway. Besides, the bible tells you to kill witches (and homosexuals, but that's a conversation for another time):
"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Exodus 22:18
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Leviticus 20:13
Vampires werewolves and imps = Another thing I only heard of recently, apparently mostly believed by organisations like the KKK. The descendants of Eve and Satan I believe? Either way is stupid and not un-biblical.
Vampires originated from the Christian bible, in the book of Genesis.
Werewolves were in Greek mythology.
Imps are lesser demons from hell that cause things to go wrong. Essentially like bad luck.
Slavery is okay = To pay someones debts, yes but then Jesus came to free the slaves (not just the literal kind) so that is no longer acceptable. I don't think anyone in western society can be high and mighty about Slavery, so how about we don't go there.
"If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever." Exodus 21:2-6

Slaves are only to be released if they are of Hebrew descent. Others are considered to be less important, and to be treated as property. There's no way to wiggle out of that one.

What? I totally agree with the point of view. I mean idiot parents can't shelter their kids forever. Things one does can always get them made fun of at any age just for being different, etc, whatever. Fact of life people when do you drop the PC shit and just be humans?

The bullies aren't "setting" the rules it's more of a societal placement struggle. Everyone sets the rules and although they can be guided, they can't/shouldn't be controlled too much. Kids need to find their own way.

At the same time those it really sucks he got stabbed or whatever. Guess he got the wrong kind of attention. Bet he'll learn from it lawl.

whatever I'm bored
Please please please tell me you're not being serious with this post

Wow, that's just horrible. The child who stabbed the other kid should be taken away from his parents, they seem to be uncapaple of teaching their child how to accept others. And who said from the school said: "If you wear pink, you better be prepared to get bullied". The headmater?
He/She should be fired for thinking like that. But yes, i kinda agree that the parents should think about what their kid wears, so situations like bullying could be avoided. I feel bad for the kid who got stabbed.

Okay, first off, by the sound of things the kid was poked with what was probably a butter knife and did not sustain any injuries. Second, it sounds like the kid was experiencing garden variety being picked on. I got picked on a lot in grade school, too. Kids are cruel, selfish little monsters sometimes, it happens. From experience, I can say no one can protect a kid from being picked on, adult intervention actually makes it worse.

To all the people who say that schools should not allow name calling and such, how do you propose they stop them? I've personally seen teachers try to stop people from picking on a person, I've seen people be punished for it excessively, it never stops it for long, if at all.
This is a bit more than name calling. You can't ever do much, at any age, about that. (Nor would I want anyone to.) This though, is certainly beyond name calling. Granted the knife was blunt, but it was still a knife. Plus, the teacher didn't inform the parent.

I remember, when I was in grade school, standing in line with one my friends. The boy ahead of us, a mean little child, was yelling at my friend and pulling her hair. I told him to stop and in response he pushed me, hard. Sadly, the boy behind me, Paul, was a bit too close. When I was pushed into him, he went flying back into the corner of the wall. It's one of the only clear memories I have of when I was that young. It was engraved into my mind; the whitewash of the walls, and his blood splattered seemingly everywhere. I don't know exactly what he hit, I was young, no one would tell me. All I do know is that he had to have a plate inserted into his head and 9 staples. The other boy was expelled.

Name calling is one thing, but anytime something starts to get physical it is an adult's responsibility to attempt to stop it, no matter what caused it.

this is pretty fucking stupid on the school,s part look some kids are that way my little sis knew this guy that liked the same stuff and he turned out well (he did come out of the closet this year but hey! he didnt turn into another Chris-Chan) the parents should sue the school for discrimination against kids that like pink

school is like a miniture society of its own, controlled by the kids like it or not .. things like hierarchy and social rules seem to form quickly and naturally ... some alpha kids have slightly more of a say when it comes to the rules but this system mostly just governs itself, kids go more on feel than we do.

and stuff like "that pink shirt is gay" will always ... ALLLWAYS be there in a younger enviroment, if a kid wore pink a long time ago they would get treated the same way they would get treated in class today ... like shit ... the only difference now is that most of the kids carry knives, guns and are all trying to be 50cent .....

do the math

Give me an example of "religion" teaching the rejection of knowledge.

Originated with the Greeks, carried on by the Catholic church. And yes, the bible says that the earth is a flat plane set inside a dome that is surrounded by water. We now know it to be round, surrounded by an atmosphere of O-zone and (now) very abundant Chlorofluorocarbons.
The Bible says nothing of the sort, read this: http://www.tektonics.org/af/earthshape.html

I know I'm right on this one. Saying "God bless you" when somebody sneezes originated from the belief that when you were coughing it was your body rejecting a demon trying to possess you. Also, when you have nightmares it's because the devil is sitting on your chest.
No you're thinking of sleep paralysis, and it was more commonly associated with succubi, or demons rather than Satan. I can see the mix up because sleep paralysis can be classed with night terrors but no.

Demons entering through your mouth comes from Celtic Druidic traditions and stuck with people as a habit long after the Celts (my race) were converted. It thereafter become "God bless you".

It's called the Miasma Theory of Disease, and it includes the thought that disease is spread by foul, unholy air. Many people thought that gas masks (specifically Medico della peste) would prevent them from being sick simply by recycling the air they were currently breathing:
Well disease is often spread by air so it's not that far off. In any case like I say I've never heard of it so I doubt it was a big thing.

Evolution, first off, is fact. Technically it's just a well-supported theory, but so is gravity, or time. And it's not the explanation for life, it's the explanation for the diversity of life.
We can agree that it is a perfect explanation for the diversity of life as opposed to the existance of it. I'm 100% down with that.

Really? It's one of those ideas that comes up when people start proposing that the earth is only about 6 or 7 thousand years old (which is a load of horse shit). It's pretty popular among people who are almost too stupid to remember to breathe.
Really really, it's new to me. I'm not one to speculate on the age of the earth though, suffice to say I think it's a lot older than 6-7 thousand years.

It's a difficult concept though, around where I live there's like an epidemic of mediums and seances and psychics. All that jazz, and a lot of people I know and trust (who aren't christian) come back with some mental stories. People knowing things there's seriously no way of knowing etc.

Saying that, smoke and mirrors can do amazing things.

Vampires originated from the Christian bible, in the book of Genesis.
There are no vampires in the book of the Genesis, you're just being ridiculous now. I've heard people claim the blood of Abel crying out for justice as a link to Vampirism but again that's just ridiculous.

I didn't wiggle I said Jesus came in part to free the slaves...

being bullied for wearing pink as a boy i can understand though. right or wrong, that's just how it is.
And we are to accept that?
yes, accepting the truth about how things actually work in real life is a good thing. kids will be kids and all that. Also; understanding and accepting are two very different things....now read my post again.

It's the school's job to try to prevent bullying where possible, but they can't seriously be expected to completely defend someone if they choose to go against the grain of society. It's just not possible. I'm not saying it's right for bullies to attack other students, or that it's wrong to go against the grain, but the whole idea of counterculture is to encounter resistance. It's just going to happen.

'Be prepared to be bullied if you are wearing pink.'
So it's ok to stab people wearing pink? What kind of bullsh*t is that?!
Since when is f*cking stabbing someone considered juvenile bullying?! That's more like a felony offense!
If a kid want's to wear pink, let him! He's certainly not hurting anyone, unlike the brat that stabbed him.

EDIT: I'm aware that we're talking about a dull plastic knife here. But does that make it ok? I certainly don't think so.

I don't think the school was actually endorsing the stabbing of people wearing pink, but if you've been around preschool boys before (not counting when you were one yourself), you'd notice they roughhouse a lot, and they're not very strong.

I think it's a little silly the school didn't report it, but I don't think they kid would have died. The knives they're talking about are totally blunt (I've provided a picture). You'd deal more damage with a fork.

I feel the kid's pain. I was bullied like that myself when I was close to his age.

So it's better just to sit there and watch?
Trust me, that's all you can do. Besides, teachers may not even know it's going on. Kids are smart enough not to do things they shouldn't in front of adults.
I beg to differ on that matter. We don't know if the kid complained to his teachers or not, though I'm betting he did. And as far as bullying goes there are lines that should not be crossed and getting stabbed in the neck by another student, even if it's with a blunt instrument, certainly seems to cross one. Kids may be kids, cruel in the innocence and naive in their activities, but that does not excuse their behavior, neither the kids nor the adults!

And as are as intervention making things worse goes, and I mean no offense to you in saying this, it's absolute crap! Just standing by and not intervening in such matters makes the observer no better than a spectator to a blood bath! I mean, the kid's asking for help by reporting it; it would be a mistake not to. Besides, if such a thing is truly a concern, it would still be better to help him anyway and convince the kid to take pride in his likes and hobbies regardless of anyone who thinks otherwise and become a stronger individual for it. We may not be able to completely stop the bullying, but we can still do something for the victims!

And that, my friend, I say from experience.

"If you wear pink, you better be prepared to get bullied"
"If you go into that neighborhood prepared to get stabbed"
"If you have different beliefs, prepared to be harassed at your funeral"
"If you are different in any way, prepare for us to beat you unmercifully, then piss all over you"

All just because there's a high chance of something like this happening doesn't mean the teachers shouldn't do anything about it. "It happens" isn't an excuse, it's what the fucking problem is!

Sigh* the media always over does these kind of things in every neighborhood there are people who are going to get bullied for varying reasons. A "blunt knife" is often simply a kitchen knife used to put butter on bread...
And it is still a knife. I do hope you are more compassionate in real life.

What good reason would you have for indulging the bigotry of idiots? Why on earth would every one else have to go out of there way just because some jackass will throw a tantrum if you don't?
If anything you should do as much as you can to infuriate them further without trying to provoke them into physical action.
And if they do decide to take physical action, a kick to the groin is very effective on both sexes.

Seriously though, I can't say I like the thought of the kid wearing those things but it is his choice to make and he should be allowed to wear them if he likes it.
Maybe you should teach him how to throw a punch, though... self defence, and all.

Please tell me the stabber will be getting some attention from the police?

Also, this +1M;
"I don't want to have my child at a school which considers a stab with a knife to be a 'small incident'," the boy's mother told Jönköpings-Posten.
The school is full of jackasses. Seriously.
