Just heard this on Fox. Apparently 70% of people living in England, Australia, France, Germany and New Zealand want to, and I quote "Dismantle their health care system and start anew." Yes, I know this is bullshit but I'm curious how people of these nations feel about our media's portrayal of them, especially with all this health care hoo ha going on right now. Funny? Sad? Offensive? Also, do you know any people from any of these countries that actually do want to "dismantle the health care system and start anew."?

My fox news says the complete opposite, and it is far more reputable, and reliable a news service.
Sir; your fox's news is of the utmost reputability. Far better than that OTHER news outlet.

I'm shocked they didn't drag Canada into this... again, as a note.
I think they've realised that while Canada does have flaws in the healthcare system, there are countries in Europe with even much better healthcare, and they happen to have been doing it for much longer.

As a Brit my main gripes with the NHS are that as "universal as it" and despite paying my national insurance I still have to pay for dental treatment, optical care and prescription drugs.
(I might be wrong in this too but I'm also under the impression the Scots don't have to pay for these, feel free to correct me on this though)

On the other hand its absolutely brilliant that I didnt have too pay money to not die when I contracted meningitis, that they patched my broken wrist up after I went and bolocked it in a fight and they replaced my Dads hip free so he could get back to work.
mate, you pay a £7:10 for 1 course of tamiflu that the nhs have to pay £145 for.
Funnily enough I've had swine flu and didn't take a course of Tamiflu.
Also if I paid for private healthcare I wouldn't accept them making me pay 50p for it, never mind the government which I dont have a choice about paying.

Maybe 70% think that their healthcare systems need more help/doctors/money/equipment- but restarted from scratch? No, definitely not.

Woo. Go team bullshit.
Sure the U.Ks healthcare system is not great- is the sense that it has not yet developed heal-all medipacks or reincarnation spells but hey- at least it's not based on wealth for effectiveness of treatment.

This is Fox News we're talking about.

I love our health care. I've been to the doctors so many times in the past couple of months and it doesn't cost me anything, it's all good for me.
The only problem is my doctor. He mumbles too much and doesn't tell me what's wrong most of the time.

Ahh yes. The fine journalistic integrity that channel displays is an example too us all.

I live in England, and frankly the population here go bananas whenever a government hints that it might privatize our health service. That Fox would run with such an enormous bare faced lie, not even just a twisting of the truth, speaks volumes about them.

Fox lie all the time, I can't believe people still listen to them. I can't believe they're as popular as they are. They're insane.

I'm English and I really don't want private health care, because I can't afford it. If I lived in the USA, I'd be fucked. So I'm really happy we have the NHS.

I have no opinion on the NHS, because I haven't been to see a doctor in years...or a dentist...or an optician...and yet my body functions very well. I oddly don't need any dental surgery any more, since I stopped getting check ups...I have no doubts that dentists do work that doesn't need doing, just to get paid.

The American fear of free health care is based on bullshit.
HEY! Please do not put all Americans in the same group. Lots of us voted for Obama because of the promise of Universal Health Care. Now it is coming true!

We also hate Fox News as they spread FUD and lies all the time to make for fear mongering. Fuck Fox News with a brick.

Who listens to NPR either? Just because they are full of crap does not mean that Fox News is not.

Being a man of blighty myself I completely disagree. The health care is fine. It's just we love a good complain. and as for the rest of the countries... well they just wanted to jump on the bandwagon as always.

Herein lies your problem.
Seconded. As an Englander, this simply isn't true.

And as Branoviches said, we complain about everything anyway. Most of us would like the queues shortened, but our NHS does some of the finest work on the shittiest pay/timetabling in the world.
