This is exactly why you don't take away punishment like spanking. I'd take every toy outa that kids room, leave it bare. Spank him in a best way to not leave marks and basicly ground him for a damn year. Every Sunday little snot could pull weeks in the noon sun as punishment in the yard or help pick up trash...
But it would be a on going punishment...no not beatings every night but I would insure miserable conditions for a kid. IE taking fun out of life. No one says a kid must have fun. Bet he'd never do that again...

Honestly, I don't hold it against the little boy, when you're that young there's a good chance your brain isn't all that developed. It's the age were you're killing insects with glee. This kid apparently took it to the next level. It's possible this kid has something wrong with his brain, antisocial personality disorder is a definite possibility, but just as likely I'd chalk it up to poor adult supervision.
No, your right. I care more about a dog being kill than a perfect stranger because most people are dick at best. I don't remember the real name of the rule, but i'll call it the sucking rule. If he was swinging it around, he might have been playing swords with it and didn't stop to think about what he was doing. I admit, I killed a few pets in the name of playing with them. I forced my guinea pig down a vertical shoot a few times because it was like a slide or something. We padded the bottom with a rag, so it was all good, right?
I also killed a baby hamster with a Nerf gun. No, I didn't put it in it, but it had a cocking handle that you would pull back to arm it. My brother and I were threading the hamsters through the loop in the handle and then pulling the trigger so that the handle would shoot upwards like some sort of ride. They'd roll around all silly when we'd do it, but they wouldn't make any noise, so we thought they were having fun. Anyway, I was pretty upset when one of them died because I wasn't trying to kill anything. Same with the guinea pig.
