damn. DELIBERATLY getting pregnant? What, is there some scholarship program for teen moms or something? Am I the only teenager with common sense? Humans are doomed.

Hmm what has this world come to when girls in highschool purposefully get pregnant those poor poor kids.
I think "purposefully get pregnant" contradicts "those poor kids" in every meaningful way.

Unless you mean "the kids that are going to come from this" then I agree entirely.

Question just sprung into my mind - between those 90 girls, how many fathers are involved.

I'm betting the number is going to be less than 90.

So, Memphis is one of the sites for one of those pregnancy pacts? I thought they stuck to the New England region of the States. They've been around since my freshman year of high school, but I didn't expect it to actually spread to, like someone else mentioned, the Bible Belt. There are other ways to make a statement, and they don't include a 15+ year financial obligation.

Isn't Memphis in the Bible Belt?

Lol, etc.

Oh, and that's a ridiculous figure.
Abstinence-only sex-ed, it doesn't work. If these kids had been taught about birth control methods, there might be a few less getting pregnant. Then again, maybe high school girls in Memphis just aren't that bright...

Of actual fathers, probably less than 90, but of potential fathers, well, I'm guessing it's a lot more.

People make fun of Texas only because they don't want to face the harsh reality that something is insanely wrong with Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. It's mostly centered on Florida but seems to leak out into the surrounding states.

"Dear MTV,

I am 16 years old. My boyfriend and I have just broken up, but we got back together because I told him I am with child, which I am. Now we are going to move out because my parents are racists and he is a black man. I do not know what to do or how I will live my life and get into college.

Please add me to the next season of Teen Mom,

Thanks"

And there you have it.

I bet there's like 8 dads in all... I would laugh but I'm to sad... Fell bad for the babies being born, the amount of welfare money will cripple that town.

Between the shocking lack of comprehensive sexual education, and shows like "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" glamorizing teen pregnancy (and tacitly encouraging girls to get pregnant to get on the show), and those few girls who just think they're ready to be moms and want to do it while they can still "milfs", its hardly surprising.

Distrubing, sickening and horrifying, yes. But not surprising.

I have the horrible feeling that despite their being 90 kids on the way, there aren't even half that many fathers between them.
