Search bar approved, this beauty has cropped up on 4chan the past for nights. Don't worry, it's completely safe and SFW. My apology to those who are familiar with it.

We've all pictured the future, and they usually involve extremely smart computer programs running very specific searches for us, rather than trusting Google. So the question is what dos this lovely site mean for that? Think it could be the first step in a new breed of search engine? Think it could be the first step in anyhting in particular? Think it's just one hellova time sink?

Also, as a side note, did it guess your character? I've done it 3 times, Kyle Katarn, Gregor Eisenhorn and Ciaphas Cain... It's managed all 3. I'm about to give Ibram Gaunt a shot.

Hmm, The Escapist seems to have undone/never done my previous 2 edits? Well they basically re outlined the idea. Not AI, but a step forward for the likes of search engines and possible VIs as ME would call them.

I've seen plenty of threads about this. It's easy for the search bar to approve them with vague thread titles like yours but i won't blame you :p

It's a bloody impressive piece of tech, my first encounter got like 20 in a row correct. I managed to fool it a few times more recently but it gets pretty close ^_^

Any step to ai that can dress itself is a good step. If this really works ill support it fully.

EDIT: well im convinced that it works.

They have Yahtzee on that thing! I knew once they asked the peculiar hat question that it would get it right.
That is bloody clever... must have taken years to compile all that.

Thats not AI, thats a very very very simple categorizing algorithm aka 20 questions.

Jean-Luc Picard - 7 q's
James/Dad from FO3 - 20 q's
Brock Lesnar - 12 q's

Time to go somewhat obscure

Lu Bu....13 q's!

hmmmmmmm

Hermes Conrad - 14 q's

hmmmmmmmmm

Leroy Gibbs - 15 q's

alright

The Tick:
> ah ha! came up with Ralph Hinkley, still a super hero though after 20 q's
> The Toxic avenger aftr 30 q's
> got it at 35 q's

Last one for me

Dave Lister - 19 q's

impressive little bit of script in the game

EDIT: Even got Ricky Bobby in 20!

Not AI by itself, but isn't this a bold step? What about Cleverbot? That isn't technically AI(I think) but it is a step.

If you compiled all of this information into a computer and let it think for itself, you have artificial intelligence. And very, very, very simple, you say? Could you make one, a better one? If so, I'd love to play it. If not, this is still top dog at what is does, AI or not.

The only one I beat it on as Private Magregor from COD2.

It guessed Gaz from COD 4, which is close as they are the same character model.

I love these things.

So far it's guessed Rogue in 17 questions and Dr Manhattan in less than ten.

Wow, Scipio Africanus in 17 questions.

Took 27 to get Hammurabi though.

18 for Princess Tiana, this thing is pretty up to date.

24 for Gordon Freeman, that surprised me.

I asked him to find Muhammed, but he didn't give me a picture. :(

"Is your character Gay?
Is your character homosexual?
Does your character wear a hat?
Does your character often wear a hat?
Is it Yahtzee?"

XD

Saw this the other week back here on the Escapist actually, it is pretty clever but it didn;t get a really obscure character I threw at it.

I've found myself, yay for me.

(Yeah, it's not a joke, my friends added me to Akinator and searched for me quite a lot of times. I just don't understand, why they named me "mad Warhammer fanatic"~)

I've known Akinator for quite long and I know, that it's possible to beat him. But it happens only in ~10% searches at max, which is pretty good as for a web program.
But I wouldn't call it intelligence.

I wouldn't say it's simple.
I tried some characters form Song of Ice nad Fire and it got all. Nice database

This thing is delightful. It only had trouble getting Hope from FFXIII, which I chose because of his generic-ness, and it still only took 24.

This AI uses the flow chart to indicate what you are thinking of , it's really interesting and fun.
