Tommy sat in front of the T.V. fiddling with one of his strings. The nagging voice in the back of his head told him "You shouldn't do that it could lead to your undoing." "Wow, I've been hanging out with the clowns too long." Tommy flicked channels around until something caught his eye. A news channel was yammering about a bombing at the embassy. Then they started talking about Deadmen. Tommy had no idea there were others like him. The concept amazing him. "I'll go see what's going on in the city. I can't remember the last time he had been." Tommy walked up to the ringleaders caravan and pounded on the door. Tommy was quickly pulled in. "Listen to me kid." The ringleader said, soundly concerned. "I don't know if you blew up the embassy, and I don't care. I don't wanna get in trouble cause of you, you here?" Tommy was confused. He had never seen the ringleader so upset since the health inspector came. "just take one of the preformer's motorcycles and one of the sword-swallower's swords. I'll tell the insurance company you stole them. Just don't come back, ya hear?" Tommy was confused, but he wasn't going to question it. He was about to buy the motorcycle off of the man, and he got a free sword out of the deal. Tommy grabbed a scimitar from the case. It began to rain, so he grabbed a hoodie and jumped on one of the sportbikes used in the show, and took off into the storm.

John zoomed through the small town of Rangers Point, his car BlackLightening handling the rough terrain like it was a paved road.

Rangers Point was a desert town in the middle of nowhere, and thats how John liked it. He was the town protector, keeping any rough/tough outsiders to a respectable minimum and in return, the doc gave him the transfusions he needed free of charge.

Suddenly, a man ran towards his car waving his hands in the air. Stepping on the breaks, John came to a sharp stop.

"Henry! Jeez man, watch it!" he shouted

"John! On the news..." Henry panted, a look of panic in his eyes

"You've been declared a criminal John! All Deadmen have! Some terrorists are using them..."

John's eyes widened

"What? But I haven't done anything! I'm the sheriff for gods sake!"

Henry nodded sadely

"We all know that John but the authorities won't. Drive now John. Just drive"

And with that, John drove to the one lace he was sure he could lose anyone. Millineum city

John Doe was walking along town. It was slightly breezy outside. He liked it when it was cold because he felt like he could wear his long sleeves and gloves without anyone second guessing him. This town was boring, lonely, quiet, out of the way...it was perfect, a perfect place to finally relax and read until he needed to do something else. He walked by one of his favorite shops and looked in. Chocolate. He didn't know how but every decade these sweets seemed to get unhealthier and tastier. He went in to buy some until he saw the news report. "Damn." He let out a long disappointed sigh knowing he had to leave. He bought a lot of extra sweets for the go and went back home. There he packed his minivan to go to the scene. He didn?t know why people gave him such a hard time about his ?Soccer Mom Van.? He could have afforded something better but he like this one. It was reliable and somewhat efficient. Furthermore, he could fit a great deal in it: Clothes, food, gear, weapons?oh and chocolate to! Can?t forget about chocolate.

The usually bustling streets of Millennium City and quite and lifeless. Terror keeps people locked away in their homes.

The only people who dare go out for any reason other then to get to and from work, are small time gangs looking to keep their "turf" safe from any rivals. The police patrol the streets regularly looking out for anyone seeming suspicious.

Only one bar is noticeably open and actually has patrons entering and leaving, though at erratic intervals, is Micky's Pub. The center for crime bosses and gang members to spend their time, it's an unspoken rule that Micky's is neutral territory so fights rarely break out but the air is always filled with a quiet tension that says anything could happen at any time.

I got work tonight so I'll home around 11

Slipping his aviator glasses into his trench coat pocket, John glanced around the city, a low whistle emitting from his lips.

Somethings never change.

Checking the lining of his coat to ensure his knifes were secure he made his way to the one safe, or at least neutral, spot in the crazy city...Micky's Pub.

The atmosphere hadn't changed at all, tension still swam in the air, thick as mud and twice as deadly.

Making his way to the bar he nodded to a barkeep

"Something good and in a bottle"

Tommy parked the bike in the lot of a cheap motel and walked in the office. "Don't ask any questions, and I buy the room for you guys." Tommy slammed a large roll of bills on the counter. Tommy had forgot how much he had made over the years, but it must have been enough to get the owner's attention. "Sure thing bud. Tell me if you need anything." The manager said as he was thumbing through the bills. "Besides, I'm already hiding another one of you wierdo's here anyways." But Tommy was already out the door.

John Doe rolls into town in his van. He was surprised at how barren it was. All he saw were gangs and someone who John was pretty sure was carrying an "EnD iS NEeR" sign. He was very troubled by the absence of civilization in this normally busy place. Logically he himself should be far away from here, but his gut told him otherwise, his gut was the only thing that's kept him around for so long. He knew the safest place to go was to Mickey's. He had been there before and liked the place, which is saying something for him. Usually he is quite neutral with places. Most of all he was hoping to find some answers. He pulled his van into an out of the way spot. He walked into the back of his car and grabbed underneath a tarp a switchblade and two small guns that he hid in his camo pockets (another thing people teased him about. He liked the extra pocket room though.). He wanted to bring his old sword with knuckles along the handle but thought it best to leave his equipped weapons hidden for now. He exited the window tinted minivan and walked into Mickey's with his sweatshirt, hood up, and gloves. He sat next to a man ordering "Something good and in a bottle." John in turn politely told the bartender, "And I'll have something sweet." Looking at the man in a trench coat next to him he asked, "So, you like lots of pockets too?"

I hope I'm doing this right. I don't have any fore knowledge of Gungrave

Taking a sip from the bottle the barkeep passed him, John glanced at the man who had taken a seat beside him

"I'm sorry, what was that?"

Who was this guy?

I'll wait for all of you to make your way to Mickey's before I start with the plot development

also don't worry about never have played/watched gungrave, the anime was just an adapation of the first game giving some backstory on Beyond the Grave (the first successfully made deadman) there wasn't much about the world it's set in so I'm making that up as I go

Tommy was bored. Flipped channels on the T.V, tried to read his book. He just didn't feel like sitting in the same spot. Tommy felt like seeing Erica. Oh crap, Erica. Tommy remembered going to see his girlfriend after they brought him back. She was mad at him. "So you tried to kill yourself to get away from me?"Tommy tried to convince her" No, no, It wasn't like that..." Tommy needed to forget. He needed a drink. He got on his bike and rode down to a sleazy bar with a neon sign above it glowing Mickey's Pub. Tommy walked up to the bar and handed his keys to the bartender. "I won't be able to use these by the time I'm done." And ordered something to drink.

John Doe turned to the man and said almost blandly, "Pockets, your trench coat. Good for carrying things. I prefer big pants pockets myself. I did the the whole trench coat thing myself for a while...a while back, but people always found it conspicuous. You might want to be careful...someone might find you suspicious." He took a sip of his drink then begins speaking almost like a child in a candy store. "Almost, gotta be sweet like candy." He turned to the barkeep, "Don't get me wrong, this is great for now though. I just have what they call a sweet tooth." He turns to the man next to him, "I'm sure you know what I mean. You gotta love sweets right? Well anyway, what brings you out here?"

I don't know if this is relevant but for character background sakes I suddenly realize that my character sounds exactly like that detective on Criminal Intent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYzP9jHEaVo&feature=related

"No suprises there then" Sheath said to himself. The police had already set up barricades by the time he had made it to the scene of the explosions. Even with his sword hidden under his Kimono there was very little chance of getting near enough to see what was happening.
Mickys pub was fortunatly near by. At the very least Sheath would be able to get a drink if not more information. Upon entering the building Sheath took in everythign he saw. Nothing unusual, a few extra people tonight. Some stood out more than the other but then again this was Mickys so there was nothing strange about that.
"A bottle of Jack and a glass please" He asked politely, placing his money on the bar and proceeding to his usual table in the far corner from the door. Shetah favoured this spot as he could see every little thing taking place. The bartender placed the whiskey, glass and change down infront of Sheath and returned to the bar.
"Well lets see who this incident attracts" he said knocking back a glass of whiskey, he continued to pour another.

Rusty stepped out of his car, breathing the warm, moist and rather dirty city air. He had been pulled over a few times on the way here, the cops were in that mood, apparently. Fortunately he was rather intimidating with his revolvers.

He looked around himself with surprise- The streets were entirely empty. Right now he felt he needed to be anonymous, to get in a crowd, and where would be a better place for that than a bar? He immediately spotted a big neon sign saying "Mickey's". He had been there before, and it was as good a place as any, maybe a tad on the shady side, not a bar where a cop would go after work.

'Fits me fine' he thought and entered. Inside there was quite a few people, perhaps not as many as he had hoped for. He stepped up to the bar and said:
"One 75 of vodka, and don't bother with glasses."

He raised the bottle to his mouth and continued drinking until it was empty and then put it down on the counter and wiped his mouth.

Before the man could answer he said, "Huh looks like we're not the only one's drawn in here." He took a small sip of the cup that he started with savoring the flavor. "I'll introduce myself first, I'm John." He offered his left hand to the man, the glove still covering the crystalline underneath.

So apparently if you have been a deadman long enough you are able to spot other deadmen. I figured it is safe to assume that since I am an old 3rd gen I could do this?

John glanced over curiously

"You're name is John too? I'm John Gray"

He shook the man's hand slowly, but firmly

Tommy looked over to the guy next to him. He just downed an entire bottle of vodka like it was milk. Tommy was impressed. "Wow, you sure know how to hold your own." Tommy regretted saying that. He hated small talk. Reminded him of house. Tommy refused to call that place home, so he refered to it as house. "Get another bottle for me and my friend here."

"I'll call you Gray for now if you don't mind, easier that way, also, Gray sounds more casual than Doe which is my second name. Unless you want to tell me your new name, if you have one that is. I know some...people?...like to hold on to there older names." John squeezed his hand a little harder just so he could be sure Gray could feel his crystalline hand underneath his glove. He then turned to the other people at the bar. "I myself like drinking mine slowly. You get more of the flavor that way. But hey, I'm no expert." He went back to sipping his drink, "I take it back, the more I drink this the more I believe it tastes like candy! Barkeep what is this wonderful piece of art you have me drinking?"

I tried to think of a barkeep response but couldn't. Does anyone know what kind of drinks taste like candy? I couldn't think of anything other than Amaretto and I don't know whether or not they serve that in bars.

"Candy" the barkeep muttered, as he went back to serving drinks a hint of annoyance in his voice

--

Feeling the crystal under Johns glove, Gray simply nodded

"My nickname after my...rebirth was Impaler. Due to the fact that I enjoy going out in public, I prefer to use my old name"

He took another drink from his bottle, enjoying the taste

"Hmmm, well if I don't know the name of the drink I won't be able to order more from you, and the more I order the more I tip good sir. I apologize if I'm a nuisance I don't mean to be." He then turned back to Gray, "That's a strong nickname my friend. I see your point though. Gray is the better choice."

"I was named for my specialty" Gray replied

"What about yourself? Using your real name or a nickname?"
