Well, I've been mulling this over in my head for a day or two, and I just wanted to share with you guys my idea for a zombie game. If it's good, well, then let this stand as my claim to ownership for this idea.

This is a first draft, written in notepad, so spell-check may be off.
-----------------------------------
10 years after the zombie apocalypse has happened, the world has
already begun to recover. Governments re-establishing, corporations
starting fresh, and everyone begins to restart their lives.
14 years after the apocalypse, a corporation headed with government
funding has rounded up all the remaining zombies and is now using them
for human entertainment. Stage shows, shooting ranges, and even testing
labs are using zombies for everything from entertainment, to research,
to just pure cynical slaughter. Everyone wants to pay money to shoot
zombies right?
17 years after the apocalypse, the corporation known as ZedCo is still
using zombies. There are some people who wonder, after three solid
years of ghoul genocide, how there can still be a steady stream of
zombies being flushed into stages and ranges. Well, you soon find out
why.
The human population has been growing unprecedentedly quickly since the
end of armageddon; trying to atone for all the losses in lives to the
undead. The governments have realized that overpopulation could become
severe enough to dwindle Earth's resources to a non-habitable zone. In
order to prevent this, the governments have given that task to ZedCo.
Anyone who is deemed expendable: criminals, homeless, and others deemed
dangerous to society are sold to ZedCo, who in turn infects each of
these people with the zombie virus. The newly formed zombies are then
put into the entertainment as sideshows, and when they lose their
initial docile nature and become ravenous, they are sent to shooting
ranges or testing labs. Humans get their thrills, or kills, and the
world is left with good wholesome people.
That's all fine and well, but when you get arrested and found guilty by
a biased court of law, well, I wouldn't think that you'd take it too
well when you find out that your real prison is in the confines of an
infected mind.
Now, after being sent to ZedCo, after being injected with the virus,
you now have the power to fight back. You were able to break into their
medicine storage one night and find their treatment for the virus, used
for if and when the virus infects staff members, and take as much as you
can. This, however, only slows the infection to a crawl.
You should hope that you have enough time to expose ZedCo and destroy
it's facilities before you turn.
------------------------------------------
What do you think? Good? Not Good?

Comment please.

I think its too complicated. When it comes to zombies, I like my back story short and simple. Virus/infected animal/toxins infect one person and virus spreads. Done deal, now bring on the zombie slaughter.

But thats just me.

Pretty interesting, but sure how good a game it would make. A good prospect for a novel or short story though. Soylent Green meets day of the dead if you will

Well, the story sound quite okay, but what are you going to do with it? And on the note of the claim for ownership of the idea. Might I suggest you read this?

Nice twist on the whole zombie apocalypse idea, I like it. It may need padding out a bit with a more enhanced story within edCo, but as a basic premise it's pretty dan good. I advise you work at it a little more and then, maybe try and make it yourself, or write it as book or film it or whatever. But as a game idea, it's basic, but good. Well done OP :D

Not bad, needs work though.

I have some trouble believing mankind would breed that fast again in such a short time. I also don't see the entire world playing around, as they would probably extinguish all zombies after winning a war against them. The chances of another outbreak would be too great, there is nothing you can learn from them anyways, they rot and decay after all. I mean, sure they're still alive, but are they really? They lost their minds due to what happened to them and any research from them would probably just be worthless. And you can't really compare a zombie to a human, too many differences in the case of how their bodies function. Zombies defy all nature while we ourselves don't.

I also find it hard to believe they managed to start to keep them completely under control in less than 10 years. If this was a worldwide case, as it is led to be believed, it would take a lot longer than that for various reasons. A family member doesn't want to believe it, an animal could be infected, fleas could carry it or someone is a carrier but felt no effect, etc.

But most of this is nitpicking, the over all idea of it is actually a good one.

Yeah I read that, and that's why I feel safe with expressing my game ideas.

It's just something I made up recently, and I'm going to be soon releasing more of my ideas to the Escapist forums.

Not just plots, but ways of rethinking game mechanics.

I just wanted to get my ideas out so that they don't die in my head

It's not that it's a bad idea, but you really need to make it into something.
Meh to that aritcle.

That idea was excellent in my opinion, I want game now!

By 'expose them', you mean kill them all and not call the New York Times from a company telephone, right? And expose them for what? It seems the public is well aware of this.

That's actually pretty neat. But, this being a game..What's going to be the selling point? The gimmick?Moving among the zombies, unharmed, and alternately killing them and black ops?

Actually, the fact that people are being turned into zombies is a secret.
I knew that I should have cleared that up. I told myself to, but then I didn't.

As for calling the NYT, well, not every plot is perfect. But these people horribly wronged you, and wouldn't you want to expose them in some big way?
