I myself had those thought a while ago but after some thinking they changed into wanting to make a positive difference in the world regardless if I am remember or not. Those thoughts have evolved to something very similar feeling to this:

But I myself have no problem with not being remembered. I fear... well, that's not the right word. I dislike the idea of dying before I do what I need to do. I haven't done it yet, and I probably won't know when I do. I just don't want my death to be a failure.
The reason I have no fear of death is probably because of my lack of preservation instincts, I pretty much don't fear anything. So it turns out that I'm the anomaly, not you.

Anyway, what happens after I die has always been a thing I've wondered, and feared.
Is the afterlife real? Will I got to Heaven or Hell? Or will I just lay in a grave, seeing nothing but darkness until I am revived?

There's the being forgotten thing, but I also do the whole 'What would it be like to be dead?' I mean I'm not scared of it or anything, I just wonder what it would be like to BE not alive.
It keeps me awake 'cos I think, REALLY, intensly think.
What happens to our being? Our - it's hard to explain - sense of awareness. Just, what happens?
Then I move to other random thoughts, I'm a bit sick and twisted.
Um, I decided just before I posted this to not write any of those other horrid, disgusting things.

That's just a little insight as to what runs through my head just before I try and get to sleep, and fail.

I think you mist my point. The thing is you will always be forgotten in the end... No matter what you do you will never be remember for an eternity... unless you live for one perhaps...

EDIT: And just to argument a bit for my way to see it. As it wont matter for you if they remember you or not, becuase you will be dead, is it not better that in the final moments in your life know that you have made a positive difference in someone's life?

If you are relevant enough that a History book covering your time wouldn't dare leave you out, Hitler for example, you will be remembered forever. Do you think that he'll fade away anytime soon? No. When do you think people will forget him?

And Jesus I'm sure will be remembered in future mythology books once Christianity dies off (every religion does). He's the only example of a genuinely good person that will be remembered, and he'll be remembered for saying he's God. He'll also probably be mentioned in some History books.
