This is every Final Fantasy Fan Boys dream surely?
I have been sitting in the corner in the fetal position for the past few months muttering "it's almost here...my precious", waiting in agony for it's arrival. OK no not really, but dammit I wish I didn't have to wait so damn long...at least the north american version is getting added content.
I'm in the UK... the wait is killing me. Ive been waiting for years now.
But I know, it will be worth it.
Well when it comes state side you can simply import it, PSP's are region free after all. i doubt the UK will get a different version than the rest of the world. Hell I would have imported the Jap version but I wanna understand whats going on lol, well that and the localized version gets added content W00t...*crosses fingers for Japanese voice option DLC*
My friend knows Japanese, because he's from Asia, and he has been playing the game for parts of the college year. From what I've seen on screen, it's pretty badass.
I have watched so many youtube videos that you need not tell me how bad ass this delightful fanservice is. Think I'll do a review of it when it comes out in august. I wanna play as Golbez, ExDeath, Gabranth, Jecht, and sephiroth so badly :p

As much as I would like a FF7 remake, I wont lose any sleep over it. Quite frankly I just think it's one of those games to be either left untouched or remade for only the hand helds.
I couldn't put it any better myself.
well come on, I like this look:

Better than this look:

The kingdom hearts look has more character to it and fits FF7 a whole lot better.

It makes me wish I had a PSP.

Still, the DS isn't a bad platform.
I WOULD have a DS too but I'm a PSP fan and my budget only accommodates to my PSP and PC needs.

Stop the remakes. SURE it was innovative at its time, but today, its just bland and uninspired since we ALL know now what's gonna happen if we play it (Aerith dies, Sepiroth dies..sorta, and they all lived like emos ever after)....IMHO.

Since when did remakes ever become creative and innovative? They are just a way to milk more money from fanboys / girls.

I'd rather them expand on the Final Fantasy 8 universe, or make a remake of that. Final Fantasy 7 although awesome and the bearer of many fond childhood memories, I think they've milked it enough, to much more it'll start turning into Sonic.

While final fantasy 7 is a good game, it's when the series really started going weeaboo. I'd prefer a remake of FF6 for the DS, where the series game play style is most compatible. Won't pay for a High Definition grind.

Do I personally want a remake? No. Is it a sound business decision? Absolutely. If it brings in money, go for it.

THANK GOD FINALLY...

I thought I was the only person left in the Final Fantasy 8 > Final Fantasy 7 camp. Final Fantasy 8 had a better story, deeper characters, and a more exciting, intriguing universe.

I've been flying the Final Fantasy 8 banner for years, battle of the gardens, best bit of any Final Fantasy game, ever. It just felt so epic. the game hooked me since the demo, I just can't remember the year.

Man I want a PSP now. I would not like a re-make, much as I love the game I couldn't bear for it to kill my nostalgia

An FF7 remake is Square's 'get out of jail free' card, I'm sure they won't spend it unless they really feel like they need to.

I'd rather have a remake of either of the Chrono games, the fantastic Square RPGs. The Final Fantasy games can be great, but none of them compare to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

Small, serious, question for those who play the Final Fantasy games, can someone please tell me what the appeal is of these turn based combat games? Sure their graphics are amazing, i will admit that, but for me the combat lets it down. you stand in a line, pick who you want to die and let it happen, the FF games would be so much better if the combat was real time, similar to DMC, Ninja Gaiden, GoW, any of these fast paced combats styles would be epic, but that will never happen. They require timing and skill, because from what i've seen on gameplay footage, Final fantasy is just a point and click style game where the combat is affected by a randomly generated number sequence.

This would apply here.

It may be talking more about online rereleases, but full disk remakes are seen as worse.

Personally, this doesn't apply to me. As a relative newb in gaming, I play these things as I missed them on the first time (or in Majoras Masks case, cause I lost the cartridge and want to play it again cause its fucking A). I'm mainly just observing these games out of curiosity for gamings history. Thus, I am allowed to look foward to fridays release of Metal Gear Solid, it being the only Metal Gear Solid I haven't played.
I do the same thing... except sometimes I'll ebay or amazon old games.. Honestly, sometimes they are cheaper to buy the original game. I got Chrono cross a while back for like $3 ($2.99) shipping so it was like 6 bucks. But since you could play them on the PSP, that is a plus.
