HA! :D I WIN.
Interstate '76. ;)

Polynesia: Far Cry

Pretty much all of history is covered by Total War, Europa Universalis (and it's ilk) and Age of Empires. As for Steampunk, Arcanum seems to be a good contender. Deus Ex for Cyberpunk, maybe?

I guess we're stuck with obscure mythologies. How about games starring Aboriginals?

The one I'm yet to see is the English Civil War. A couple of grand strategy games may have touched on it in passing, but none to my knowledge have used it as a setting. This is unfortunate, as it was a time of massive upheaval which had substantial flow on effects to the rest of world history. One of the world's oldest and most powerful monarchies was uprooted and its King beheaded by his subjects - some 140 years prior to the French Revolution.

The fashion was highly distinctive, so artists could create a graphical appearance to the game world quite unlike anything else. The military technology was also at a fascinating stage, with the most primitive firearms just entering into common usage against primarily medieval technology such as pikes and longbows.

Uhhhh....first-person Spanish Civil War? & with the English Civil War? with the Boer War? I'd love to know if that's been done...

the ultraviolent London of A Clockwork Orange? Aboriginal Australia? Penguin-infested Antarctica? the Globe Theater? Taipei 101 in Taiwan? Nomadic camel adventures?

How about a word where WWII never ended and we fight Nazis with modern weapons.

Sure, it's just building on a used setting. But reload a gun and it can fire bullets again.

You know, I don't think I've seen any true 'SteamPunk' or 'ClockPunk' Video Games.
Why isn't Bioshock steampunk?
Well, it is, to a point, but it doesn't really fall into the 'SteamPunk' that I think of when someone says SteamPunk.

Amazing Technology. Flying ships powered by steam and solar energy, 'steampowered' machine guns. Victorian Era dress and language. Robots powered again, by steam. 'Mad' Scientists making crazy inventions. Ray Guns. Lazer Guns. 'Not Lightsaber lightsabers'. Mechanised wings.

You know, that sort of thing. Something set a long ways father back then BioShock, with more... I don't know, more 'unbelieveable technology'.

Bioshock feels more like 'Magitech' to me. SteamPunk, but it's a ways more advanced and works more on the 'magic' part then the 'technology' and SCIENCE! parts.
(Sorry, I'm a Girl Genius reader, the SCIENCE! will always be said that way.)

Renaissance Europe, during the reformation/counter reformation. It could be pretty cool depending on how its done. Or how about a game during colonization of the americas, or set during the Indian wars. Or the Sepoy mutiny.

Goddamn there are a lot of potential settings, but all of them are either too controversal or relatively unknown to be used.

Goddamn a game where you get to play as a mongolian warlord could be awesome. Hell I'll even take playing a warlord trying to fight the Mongols.
Europa Universalis.

It's a smelly strategy game, but it basically covers from Columbus to Napoleon.

As for the Mongols, aside from thar Shogun: Total War xpack... I don't know of any.

Inside the rotting corpse of a giant monster.
I remember a level in, I think it was Heavy Metal Fakk2 that took place there.
Well then I got nothing then I seriously thought that was original, well back to the drawing board.

New Zealand, British India, British Australia, Iceland, Greenland, Siberia (actual siberian tundra, not the other crap), Antarctica, the open ocean, etc.

There's PLENTY we've yet to do, that list above is just off the top of my head.

EDIT: Oh, and Canada. Name a game with CANADA as it's setting.

I'm fairly sure that's been done several times - or at least concepts very much like it.
