You'll probably also like Black Lagoon.
If any anime were on my "Must Watch" list for people who like dark humored if not serious anime series (which END, rather than drag on... and on...) this would be it. Strong character development, a varied cast and it goes light on the introspection and heavy on the gun play.

If want something more serious Claymore is cool.
This would be number two.

Dragon Ball Kai.

Oh yes I did it. No seriously, DBK is at least twice as awesome as DBZ. The anime is currently at Android arc, episode 66 with everyone recuperating from being beaten to a pulp. By episode 66, I think the original anime was still somewhere around Vegeta arc...

Oh, and Slayers. I loved it even before I knew how it was named. Yes, it was on TV, one of the few good animes we get here in Poland...

Eureka 7 ( One of the best love/action/drama stories ever. Also, Renton and Eureka remind me of Shu and Lala-ru, my favorite characters ever)
One Piece ( Subbed. Even if it looks stupid, wait it out until the Arlong Park Arc. Even if your still iffy, get into the Arabasta Arc. This is one of the best Anime/Mangas ever.
Full metal Alchemist Original
Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood
Rainbow
Heroman ( Not too good, but still very entertaining)
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Blue Gender
Anything by Hayao Miyazaki ( Particularly Laputa, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Kiki's Delivery Service- one of my first movies.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn ( Read the manga during the Future arc, as this is the longest and most drawn out arc in the entire anime)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann ( One of the manliest animes ever)
DBZ Kai ( If you grew up with this show like I did, your probably already watching it)
Fooly Cooly ( The greatest mindfuck ever)
Kamisama Kazoku ( The only harem I actually enjoyed)

That should keep you busy.

Well, I'd highly recommend Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, and Code Geass R1 & 2.
All are brilliant animé. I just decided to try Code Geass, and I went through both series/seasons (50 episodes total, 25 each) in 2-3 days.
Brilliant animé.

If you like funny Tokyo Mew Mew is really good! If want something more serious Claymore is cool.
I just started watching Claymore yesterday! And yes, it is very cool. I'm liking it so far.
When you said comedy+drama+action the first thing that came to my mind was Trigun.

Edit: (and of course Cowboy Bebop, but I forgot to mention, because it almost goes without saying)

I'm sorta offended nobody mentioned this anime yet. It's a cultclassic!
TEKNOMAN (also known as Tekkaman Blade)

It's short, around 40 episodes. First 14 are pretty much introduction to suck you into the world. And after episode 14 the heavy story really breaks lose.
The action is great as are the visuals especially for it's time (late 80's). But it's mostly the story that will make you love it.
Everyone should watch this atleast once. Be it dubbed or non-dubbed.

I have the perfect anime: Vandread. The entire series is on Youtube, English dub. It's funny, has plenty of action, and even moments of drama. I'm not a huge anime fan, because I'm not patient enough for all the drawn out relationship crap, but this anime really gripped me.

That's all I got at the moment.
If not for the ridiculously confusing story, at least watch this for the Girls Dead Monster songs.
