Storyline in gaming always seemed so subjective to me. One guy praises MGS' storyline, the other complains of it being draggy and extremely confusing. Same thing with FFX, one side would call it refreshing, the other would say that the storyline is full of loopholes.

So, my question is, which game, to you, has a good storyline?

I think the GTA games usually hove great stories. On the other hand, Tom Clancy games have recently had terrible stories.

Mother 3.

It is, essentially, a story of the corruption of innocence, greed, and change.

It truly adopts a sinister persona at times, which is only scarier when you compare it to the innocent and colorful sprites.

L4D 1 and 2!!!!

No, but seriously, I'd say the Call of Juarez games...It's like 'You see this drunk, angry, cold-blooded killer? He's gonna be a priest in 30 years.'

My favorite storyline is probably Battlefield: Bad Company due to its deviation from normal war storylines and funny characters.

Both parts of Mass Effect. Generally, BioWare's games tend to have a good story. They often utilize cliches and are far from original, but they are just so brilliantly executed. They are internally consistent, with a solid basis in the world's lore, and thanks to a focus on characters, you tend to get involved.

When you lack that, the story goes to hell. For me, this happens in Mirror's Edge. Pretty much the only justification you get for Faith's actions is "are you a bad enough dude?" and a lot of the elements seem pulled from thin air.

Persona 3 is a story that always makes me gush, mostly because I thought the messages about modern day apathy towards life were well shown and I think it is both a very relevant feeling and problem everyone has felt and seen in this day and age.

Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 I felt were incredibly well written and had wonderful characterization if a bit thick on the wordiness at times, as opposed to it's 3 and 4 sequels which for all their talking could be summed up with the words, Pointless and Nanomachines respectively.

I actually like the way they imply vague plot strands rather than just spill out with some hackneyed zombie story. Good stuff.

My personal choice would probably be Beyond Good And Evil. Sure, you've absolutely no choice in how the story branches out, but it unfolds so perfectly. I loves it, yes I does.
