"Let's see if we can get either of them on their feet first."
Rai've at least was somewhat lucid, but Evela might need a bit more coxing. It was difficult to tell how long he'd be out for though. He motioned for someone to try rousing the monk as he addressed the prone elf, offering him a hand up.
"We'll explain what's going on later Rai've, suffusive to say we need to move. Can you stand?"
"Yeah....I think so, I'm starting to feel better" his voice was ragged and in truth he was feeling worse than ever, he was even having trouble staying concious but he's be damned if he lost any more face with the others.
He sat up straighter and steadied his head, the world was spinning slightly less now but his eyes still bled. Blood dripped from the bottom of his mask, down onto the deck of the small raft with soft wet splashes.
He fumbled around his cloak for a moment before producing his canteen, full almost the the brim with fresh water. He began to pour it through the eye holes in his mask. The cool water left him feeling euphoric, the heavenly water washing his blood stricken face and refreshing his practically dry eyes.
Evy took the lead and motioned everyone to get moving.
"There's too many of them and .... they're not exactly human"
The Drow looked behind him before making his way to the nearby rocks. The beach was quite covered with them for atleast half of the way and he knew they could lose them in this maze of stone if they hurried.
"We must move quickly, they're nearing the shore"
That's quite alright, good to see you post again at the least
Evy looked past him toward Acento.
"I am more concerned about our current speed of things than their species, help them carry the wounded so we may be off!"
He carried doubt in his eyes, a sick feeling that they would not make it to Lemsten without encountering those... beasts.
Ra'ive stood shakily and willed himself to take the step over the boats side onto the beach. As he was lifting his second leg over, he was overcome by a wave of light-headedness and fell onto the sand.
'Atleast I'm of that damned boat'
He pulled himself to his feet and began to run shakily after Evy, the present danger of battle was enough to get his legs to work but he still ground himself stumbling several times but regaining him balance in time to continue. His head felt as if there was no blood in it at all and it was most likely that there wasn't, judging by the amount of blood he felt on his face and that dripped from his mask it had all leaked from his eye's or nose as a resault of the withdrawal.
BlackRock was terrible stuff.
'Just a little while longer, we will be safe and I can get back to normal.
Just a little while longer,
just a little while longer,
just a little while longer,
just a little while longer,
just a little while longer.....'
Evy took point and sprinted across the sand until he found himself at the next rock he could find.
The size of the stones alone were enough to hide a house behind it, but he knew they had been spotted.... and if these creatures were any clever, they knew their direction. And that only meant one thing.
I swore an oath to the King, to protect and serve his soldiers, even if it means my life
But as Evy motioned for the others to come, he noticed that the boat had already reached the shore.
It was a little ahead of them and rocks clowded his vision, but he was certain that they had reached shore and were inbound to their location.
"We will not make it in time. Draw your weapons, we must fend them off"
He called as he drew his sword from it's sheathe and gained a tactical battle position.
Evela kept walking up every so often, just enough time to see whats going on, then to pass out again. The first time was when he saw people rushing to help him, then faded to black. The scond time was when he was on the resue boat, he could not see anything that time, just hear some of the things around him. The last time was when he was getting picked up along the ground, to a nearby cliff.
All he could manage was a pitiful squek out of his mouth, before passing out for the fourth time.
Evy's eyes went from Landon and then to the noise of feet brushing through sand and armor clashing against steel weapons.
"See for yourself!"
Goblins bearing arms came from both sides of a large rock ready for battle. Their skin was grey and their eyes red and filled with blood fury. They were the size of a large dwarf but their speed and agile movements were that of an elf and human combined. They truly were bred for battle.
Evy did not waste a moment and lashed toward one of the things with his sword. There were six of them, four wearing plated armor with swords, one with the same armor and a shield and another who carried a bow and looked like he was in charge.
Evy's movements were reckless and wild. He was on a killing spree, enraged by his duties and the knawing fact that his beloved might perish before dawn.
While the Goblins come crashing in on the wall of steel formed by Landon and Evy, Vik'nar pauses to take light of the situation. They were currently out-numbered unless either Rai've or Evala were suddenly able to join the fight. Evy's movements suggested he'd not seen much fighting, but he was certainly making a mess of things none the less.
Deciding on a coarse of action, Vik'nar makes an arching run far out the the left, putting his back to the ocean. The flank of their formation exposed, two of the goblins turn and run out to meet Vik'nar, likely hoping to eliminate the lightly defended sever-elf quickly and return to the line.
This however left their backs turned to most of the melee, and if Landon and Evy kept those others occupied, these two would make easy prey for Acento and Ellondra.
That was the plan at least, now he just had to avoid being cut down before then. He narrowly parried the first blow, his arm being battered to the side, and ducked under another.
Ra'ive lay slumped against a nearby rock and watched as the battle took place before him.
'So this is it then? Alot of use I turned out to be'
He let his chin fall onto his chest and held his head in his hands. He was a mess, the sea-sickness, the withdrawal and his urge to help. They all conflicted inside of him, a battle of equal ferocity to the one that played out before him.
'No'
Ra'ive stood shakily, he was resolved, he would help the others and die rather than watching from the sidelines. His spirit strengthened his resolve and he felt a little strength coming into his legs. He slowly slid on his claws and placed two throwing knives between the fingers of each hand.
Once prepared he stepped back and behind a thick clump of rocks, letting himself become obscured so that he could get the drop on his enemies. He circled clock-wise in a large semi-circle through the rocks, until he could continue through the rocks no further. Before him was a large, empty expanse of flat sand and three meters away was a Goblin, currently being engaged by Landon.
He took one final deep breath and sprinted from his hiding place, throwing a dagger at the creature as he ran. The dagger simply grazed the goblins neck, doing little to no damage at all.
'Damn. Sea.Sickness!'
He threw another and this time it hit paydirt, it embedded itself in the creatures neck, causing it to bleed heavily and loose its balance. He kept sprinting, nodding slightly to Landon, who was no doubt preparing to finish of the creature. He neared another Goblin, it held a bow and seemed to emit an air of control.
'Great'
He was a little over six meters from it and so he prepared his throwing knives, steeled himself and continued to charge.
This would most likely end badly.
I apologise for the lousy grammar/spelling. I'm writing this from my PS3 and so I don't have my usual spell check program at work. I'll edit it once I'm on my PC
The goblin grasping his wooden bow took aim at Ellondra and sighed to ease the shot.
However, just before firing he noticed a shadow to his side and heard the gurgling of his ally dying.
He quickly withdrew his bow and noted Rai've sprinting toward him. He also noticed his in-balance. Hmprh
He simply thought to himself as he grunted and looked at Rai've.
The goblin simply dodged his pitiful charge with his bow and arrow in hand and snapped the end of the arrow at his thigh, causing him to fall into the sand with an embedded arrow head right above his knee.
After immobilizing the opponent he drew his sword and prepared to finish him off.
Ra'ive lay face down in the sand, his knee and thigh burning with pain, this was going about as well as he'd predicted. Sand was now everywhere in his mask and sticking to his face on the drying blood. He was drained, physically and mentally, perhaps the charge was not the best of ideas?
With much effort he rolled onto his back, just in time to see the Goblin standing over him and the moonlight reflecting off its armour and more importantly, its sword.
'I'M NOT MAKING IT THAT EASY FOR YOU!'
Ra'ive let out a loud bellow as he slashed out at the creatures ankles with the claw on his right hand, spending the last of his energy on the desperate gambit.
Two of the three blades came into contact with the armour on the creatures leg and shattered, flying off to be embedded in the sand, but the third, middle claw hit home. It sliced through flesh, tendon and cartilage, severing the foot from the leg entirely.
He kept his hand going and the lonesome blade hit home once more, not going through the creatures ankle fully this time but embedding itself in the bone, its momentum spent.
Ra'ive felt a dull thud in the sand next to him and he gazed up at the moon, utterly exhausted, he lay trying to fight off the encroaching blackness, simply fighting to stay concious, he was winning but for how long was anyone's guess.
Landon sliced off the head of the Goblin and saw Ra'ive fighting another, barely able to fight. He ran towards Ra'ive and the Goblin, both were lying in the sand. Landon raised his sword and when he reached them, he swung his sword towards the Goblin's head.
Ra'ive felt the warm blood of the felled Goblin next to him, splash through the eye sockets in his mask and onto his face. He lifted and turned his head slightly to see Landon standing over him.
'My night in shining armour'
"Thanks" he managed to mutter raspily, before he lost conciousness once more and his head flopped into the sand.
