'Cup of Coffee' by Garbage is extremely powerful. After listening to how melancholy the whole song is, it ends with the eternally bitter "It took a cup of coffee to prove that you don't love me".
Pretty much every line ever written by Brand New, but one in 'Jesus Christ' really stuck with me; "well Jesus Christ, I'm not scared to die/ I'm a little bit scared of what comes after".
For whatever reason, a line from 'Machine' by Regina Spektor has always been one of my favorites.
"Living in your pre-war apartment
soon to be your post-war apartment"

I have a few?*sighs*
"And suppose I never ever met you
Suppose we never fell in love
Suppose I never ever let you kiss me so sweet and so soft
Suppose I never ever saw you
Suppose you never ever called
Suppose I kept on singing love songs just to break my own fall "
-Regina Spektor, "Fidelity"

"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier. I've got soul but I'm not a soldier."
-The Killers

"This is the first day of my life.
I'm glad I didn't die before I met you."
-Bright Eyes

"And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
-Damien Rice

"And I don't want the world to see me.
Cuz I don't think that they'd understand.
When every thing's made to be broken.
I just want you to know who I am."
-Goo Goo Dolls

"I'm not a failure i swear
I wish you could see it from over there
I've got a lot over here without you
I've barely been gone
Dreaming"
- Rilo Kiley

"Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures"
-The Postal Service

"And time as it stands
Won't be held in my hands
Or living inside of my skin
And as it fell from the sky
I asked myself why
Can I never let anyone in ?"
-Oasis

"But There's Got To Be An Opening
Somewhere Here In Front Of Me
Through This Maze Of Ugliness And Greed"
-The Wallflowers

I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
-John Cale

Your avatar. Mine is amused.

OT: I've never been affected in that way by lyrics. When they try to be deep and meaningful, I don't see them as being deep or meaningful, I just see them as trying to be. It's like some people who work in theatre, once they know everything that goes on it makes it harder for them to enjoy the performance. But I've been like that forever with lyrics and poetry. The only ones I enjoy are clever comedic ones.

That's one of the reasons I like video game music. It relies on the melody, you know, the music part.

I've always felt that Hercules' Go The Distance always spoke to me

I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a heroes welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face
And a voice keeps sayin'
This is where I'm meant to be

I will find my way
I can go the distance
I'll be there some day
If I can be strong.
I know every mile
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
To feel like I belong

I am on my way
I can go the distance
I don't care how far
Somehow I'll be strong
I know every mile
Will be worth my while
I will go most anywhere
To find where I belong

It really helps me put day to day life in perspective and realise that I'm never alone. I know soppy but it does speak to me
