From the looks of the Sega Zone, Sega may possibly be testing out ideas for a new console. Unfortunately making a wii-lookalike with only genesis games available for it is probably not the best way. i would like to see Sega get back in to the console biz, but it isn't likely.

As for apple, what kind of gimmick would it have to set it apart from other consoles? My bet is that the controller would be an iPhone.

I don't think Apple has plans to make a console any time soon, if ever again, so even if I'd like to see one, it just wouldn't happen. A Sega would be very interesting, though, I think I might like to get one of those.

Why, so they can overclock the hardware, produce enough heat to warm up a small house, have it break 6 months in, and make it so you can't repair it yourself, forcing you to overpay for Dell to repair it?

OT: I'd have to say Sega, if they ever could. Dreamcast 2 anyone?

SNK - they made good consoles, they just ran into the price snag. If SNK made another foray into a home arcade system it could go quite well.

Konami would be another good company to get into it, if we're talking a company that hasn't been in the console business before.

It wouldn't matter terribly who made it though, since the GPU would be either nVidia or ATI and the CPU would be IBM. Then it's just a matter of putting it together in a way that wouldn't follow the 360's hardware failure, and then hand over control pad manufacture to a company that does it well.

Really though, is there room for 4? Sega bowed out when Microsoft stepped in, what company could muscle their way in?
