There has been protests by the church, saying that Creationism should be taught in schools instead of the Evolution theory. They say it's important for children to know how God created the earth, and it is being ignored. They demand a decision!
However, the scientific community disagree, they think the Evolution theory should stay in place, as it teachers children how the earth really was before humans.

A message from our Nations Father, Charles I:
Greetings People of Helisonus, let me explain something, in our great nation we uphold the strict separation of State and church preventing us from teaching any religious doctrine in schools outside social-studies classes. However, we do adhere to the concept of free religion so people who are dissatisfied with the State run education system are welcome, nay, encouraged to show civic activism and private enterprise to set up their own private schools where they may teach their deeply held religious believes to the next generation of followers!

[small]The separation of State and church also means that private schools will not receive any state funding on any level or the normal tax breaks. And to protect the rights of our children to good education and to continue to be a leading member of the scientific community the State board of education will routinely check if private schools teach at least all of the regular material and if they comply with strict rules and regulations. Those that don't will be shut-down, properties seized and their leaders jailed on charges of gross wilful negligence of our children, fraud and attempt to destabilize the State. (this only happen to ones with extreme / anti-State sentiments.)[/small]

In an attempt to keep both sides happy Lord Nelson, proposes that there be a number of religious schools built for those who wish to have their children taught there views and beliefs. The current form of schooling will remain intact beside the religious schools for those who do not care or believe in religion.

It has come to my attention that there has been some debate about what the children of this kingdom should learn. I have come up with a compromise that I'm sure will make both sides of this debate happy. There will be no changes to the current school system but instead I will be working with the head of the church to create a religious schooling system. These religious schools will be mandatory for those under the age of 18 and will be held after church every sunday.

I have also created a law that states that the teachers at both schools are forbidden to undermine the other schools teaching. The children of our kingdom are very important and this way they will be given a choice without being forced to believe in one thing.

The secret police has been alerted of possible arsonist gangs, and the country's security public surveillance network is on full effectiveness as of now..

The fire brigade reserve has been assembled, and is now in a fully alert stage.

Also, another possible cause has been discovered in old gas lines originating from the old times, gas flow in these pipes has been cut off until further investigation can be made. Food and shelter will be offered for those with gas shortage, and Representative Pox urges the people to help those in need in a true socialist fashion.

Everyone is urged to stay calm, and not to abandon their homes or their workplaces in the cities while this minor crisis is sorted out.

The continuing debate over creationism/evolution in schools is not a main issue for the nation over educational standards. Those who follow either or both concepts, facts, or theories (however you believe) need to understand that the schools are offering both Creationism/Evolution classes to satisfy as many parents as capable. Those who still have opposition to The Great Sammilon's decision are now granted to allow thier children to be on home schooling, as long as the main subjects (math; science; history of the nation and world; the language techniques of English, Sammilonese, and/or an additional language; and career help) are being covered. These standards will be tested by state for home-schooled children with a bimonthly quiz (focusing on at least two or three subjects). If the test results do not reach state standards, your children will have to enroll back into public schooling.

This action may seem overwhelming at first, but you shall soon understand that the nation's government are just trying to ensure equality and a much better future for you children and the condition of the Sammilon State.
