"Nothing's free."
"Treat others the way you wish to be treated."
"Give peace a chance."

All of those are things I rarely forget.

This is a piece of advice that I wish I could forget but:

Great minds discuss ideas,
Average minds discuss events,
Poor minds discuss people.

I've centered my life and social habits around this mantra. Something I very much regret since most conversations center around people in one way or another and few conversations even remotely touch on ideas. Because of this I think that almost everyone around me has a "poor" mind and I never learned the ability to talk about other people so I have to excuse myself from conversations once a topic like this comes up. Trust me when I say, this sucks.

My personal favorite and the motto my life is based on
"Never put anything before your pride, protect your pride first because in the end, pride is the only thing you will have left"

Roughly: Cattle die, family dies, your self dies - but reputation never dies, of he who builds himself a good one.

This is a poem from an ancient Icelandic story. The text is somewhat different from modern Icelandic (in case you try to run it through google translate or something), but it is readable by anyone who speaks the language. I thought it was appropriate, although one's pride and reputation are separate.

I like this one a lot. I'd forgotten it, to be honest!
I wonder what video games would classify as according to the originator of this quote. (I do tend to talk a bunch about games)

"If you're not a rebel at the age of 20 you've got no heart, if you haven't turned [to the] establishment by 30 you've got no brains".

I heard that in a Lagwagon song as a teenager (it's actually from the film 'Swimming with Sharks' and thought it was clever. Can't say if it's true yet because I'm only 22.

The next line is good as well "before you run out to change the world, ask yourself: what do you really want?"

Never get excited about anything, because then not only can you not be disappointed, but if it's worth it, it's all the more exciting.

My Grandpa's advice to me is:
"Early to bed and early to rise makes your girlfriend go out with other guys."

Words to live by...

I was in one of my classes today, and I over heard a freshman saying something that caught my attention,

He said "Drunk words are sober thoughts"

Has anyone ever said anything that you took to heart and listen too?
Yeah, some kid called me a "Retarded ******". I generally don't keep grudges for things, but that one hit me right in that special place in the heart and mind where you just can't forget. So I hit him in a place where he wouldn't forget ;)

I prefer it in it's original: in vino veritas. Does your school offer Latin?

On topic: If you can't stay out of trouble, at least don't get caught.

"Seriousness is the last refuge of the shallow." -Oscar Wilde

All truly great minds are willing to mock their own ideas and the ideas of others.

Furthermore, your mother.

Gandhi.

Hmm... as for on topic, I'll go with:
"The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." -Bertrand Russel.

Although I think I abuse this quote too much, because I use it to make myself okay with my procrastination.

It works.
