I'm not sure if I made my point actually clear, so in case I didn't, I was just being frowny-faced because it felt like rain on a parade. Not because I thought the criticism wasn't valid.
Well, what is the actual point then? I don't think anyone is actually trying to dispute the whole "frienship is a good thing, guys" message. The OP said that the video was so good that that even non-pony fans should see it. I think we're reacting to that, and not actually discrediting the idea behind the video.

I'm just having a bad day, though, otherwise I would've just ignored the topic.

I agree with you, wholeheartedly. I don't necessarily think the execution or anything about the video was particularly groundbreaking. I can (and do) see the validity of the critique given to it. I'm not sure if I made my point actually clear, so in case I didn't, I was just being frowny-faced because it felt like rain on a parade. Not because I thought the criticism wasn't valid.

For some reason I can't view the video you attached, sadly. It might be my net in its current state. I'll check back later.
Ah, I see. It is the "I'm still here" montage from Disney's Treasure Planet. Not sure if you have seen the movie or not. It is in my personal top 5 favorite montages so it could seem a little unfair to the OP. But I am using it more as a reference on structure than a comparison. The video is just a simple illustration of Jim's trust issues due to his outlook on life which is due to his abandonment issues. The entire montage takes you through how he bonds with the captain of the ship he stowed away on and overcome his normal demeanor through bonding. It is slightly tainted though because it gets bonus points from me because I like the song.

I also recommend the whole movie if you haven't seen it and enjoy animation. It is a shame that Disney movie never really got much attention.

This was pretty cheesy the first time and saw it and went 'full on cheezit' the second time.

And, Ima let you finish, but THIS is the best use of 'Time's Scar' of ALL TIME:

You people have no idea how much nostalgia I have with that OP.
What does Time's Scar got to do with that video?

On topic, I didn't really feel anything special from the video to be honest. It was nicely done though.

I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who reacted to the video posted in a negative way.

I know the message isn't particularly unique, but pretending to be a hardass on the internet doesn't make you cool. Acting like you are an unfeeling, dispassionate, apathetic person doesn't make you look cool. It makes you look like an unrelatable, miserable ass.

Basically, even though it's cheesy and not particularly new in subject matter (a la the tidal wave of "I love my friends!" chainletters that exist), I can't see anyone who has been touched by their friends and loved ones who can view a video tributing just that and not have a positive reaction.
There's a difference between being a hardass on the internet (which already is nonsensical) and expressing disdain for a video that with your own words delivers a message that's cheesy, not particularly new nor particularly unique.

People posting random stuff should expect random answers. If you want positive reactions, post something that will make the other posters think, or laugh, not a cartoon aimed at 8 years old which is just the latest fad.

Being critical doesn't make you a miserable ass, it makes you a decent person.

Hey guys, question...

So I saw one episode of the ponies on a plane from Hong Kong a few days ago. It was something about two tickets to some kind of Galloping Gala and the meaning of friendship, I forget the name of the episode.

I was totally underwhelmed and didn't understand how the show is this popular. Was that one of the weaker episodes or do I just not get it?
Yeah, that was a weaker episode in the eyes of most of the community. But then again, if you don't like the show then you don't like the show. Big deal.

Ontopic, I saw that video earlier and it managed to really irritate me. Far too cheesy for my tastes.

Ponies or no ponies, I thought it was kinda nice.

Bunch a downers on the escapist.
Not really downers from what I can see bud.

Just let it be known that while I do not like MLP I do no hate it, my kids love it and so does my missus and if it maes them happy then it's all good.

Just had to clear that up so you don't think i'm "hating" (I hate that word....sweet irony) on the video because it's a pony.

The actual message has been done to death to the point where it has become cliché.

Don't you guys have a pony group to spam with these, seriously it's all about the ponies on these forums 24/7, and you put it in gaming discussion, and it's ponY.
Maybe being in the gaming section IS the key difference! It's like a secret mind blowing that you really have to be on the look out for.

OT: I've already watched said series, so I don't really have much to add to the conversation.
Its not a secret what this video is blowing.

p.s. its not my mind.

I am by no means a bronie, but I really liked the pony effect/craft videos. Those were pony videos with a difference, this just seemed like a really bad trailer for MLP. It is too close to the original non-message of the show, and like many have said already, offers nothing that a trip to some nostalgia-pandering store like hallmark already does. Don't mean to be harsh or anything, just I don't see the point.

I thank you for warning me that the MLP nonsense has now hijacked that excellent, if short piece of music for it's own debased ends, just in case I had the temptation to run the OP's video.

Y'all oughta be ashamed, is there nothing you won't leave alone? :p :)

you know you are getting old when you realise you have completely missed something... whats the thing with the ponies about? i see it popping up all over the net now.

MLP? bronies?
Dude, don't even go there. Just don't. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

I'm waiting for it to blow over and the next fad to arrive so I can sample the show without feeling like it's mentally infected me somehow...

It's like 13375p33k all over again.
