Or, possibly, stop drinking it until you're old enough. According to your profile, you're only sixteen.
In most countries you can buy absinthe at 15 and they hardly have problems with young kids drinking.

If they want to do it, they're gonna do it sooner or later so let them do it before they can drive.

If you want to preach, tell them to be responsible with it.

I've got the same problem with beer generally. I've always hated the taste of beer. I mean, I can swill it down if I have to, but usually I prefer to have a girly drink.
Admittedly, I don't really think you need to change your drinking habits, just what you drink. Who gives a shit if I'm drinking a UDL? All I know is that I'm getting pissed off of lemonade, and there is no part of that idea I don't like.
If I'm honest as well, my girlfriend would prefer me to drink girly drinks. I have no beer breath and we can just buy one 6 pack that way, so everybody's happy. :D

Damn women!! Why do they get all the good drinks!??

Since you're still new, you might want to try a light lager like Rolling Rock. It's usually a bit sweeter than other beers.

I'm not going to judge you for drinking underage, what goes on at your house is your own business. I will say that drinking isn't necessarily about getting drunk as it is about socializing. You don't need to get drunk to have a good time, but if you feel like having a beer there's nothing stopping you from getting one.

Except maybe Sylvester Stallone...

I love how many people in this thread agree to the fact that most beer tastes "bad", and either justifies it by saying "there are many options out there" or "it's an acquired taste, keep drinking until you get used to it"

Is there really no option that involves putting the can of beer down and swearing off it for good? If you have to go pub/bar-hopping with friends, they're always going to need a designated driver, and even if they think of you as some sort of wimp or ***** for offering every time, a true friend will respect your decision, then respect you even more for willing to come along and make sure none of them later kill themselves behind the wheel.

Ah peer pressure at it's finest, you know you could also not drink beer, I personally tend not to eat shit even when my friends do...

Being a man is not about drinking beer it's about deciding what you want.

Just confirming what the others said already, try different tastes, and even if you don't find one that fits you, eventually the taste will grow on you.

WEll I'm a guy who loves the taste of stong coffee and tea so beer was a natural progression. Just that aftertaste OH GOD it's great XD I'd still drink beer even if it didn't get you drunk, that's just a nice bonus.

You're bloody sixteen. You needn't worry about not liking beer.
Most sixteen year olds don't, your tounge changes over time, and when you're young it isn't designed for bitterness. Like many other things such as coffee it is an aquired taste. You'll get around to liking it later.

Wine is much better in any case.

Here's a tip for you. It works with other bitter drinks like coffee too: Drink with the back of your mouth/throat. Don't keep it in the front of your mouth.

Edit: That, or you can try the ones that are mixed with lime.
They're a lot less bitter.

well it seems that your problem might be the selection of beer. you may have only tried budget beers that taste terrible. you might want to try many different types.
For one you didn't specify what types of beer you tried. myself i hate Indian pale ales or "i.p.a.s" i don't know why exactly but i tried 5 different Indian pale ales and i could never finnish one without fighting it down. but i do how ever really enjoy amber ales.

if you want to go all out try a veriety of micro brews or imports.

my favoret beer so far is banana bread beer

and if you ever give up on beer a little jager and redbull never hurt.

If beer's too much for you try whiskey. Tastes just like candy. The cheaper the better.

Eh, beer is an aquired taste, when I was 16 I couldn't stand it, I just drank Wild Turkey 101. Several months ago I thought I might as well try some bottles for Australia day; I bought around $20+ of different beers and went through them seeing if I liked any of them. Now I love me some Asahi, Stella Artois, James Squire and Beez Neez. Tastes change.

End of the day, if you don't like what you're drinking grow a couple of brain cells and stop drinking it, find something you actually like, beer or otherwise. You can also look at beer cocktails like shandys or black and tans or whatever, google it. Also: Definitely check out cider, it's delicious.

I totally respect what DD's do, but they're really not always a necessity depending on where this guy is living. Me and my friends either walk to the bar (granted we live in a city) or take a cab. Pitching in for a cab between three to five people is never terribly expensive.

I agree that he doesn't have to drink, no one should feel obligated to drink, but maybe he wants to experience the bonding that goes on between friends who share a beer or three? It can be good times.

I'm somewhat similar to you OP. Absolutely cannot stand the taste of beer and having tried many types of it trying to find one I liked (and failing), I ended up trying other drinks. Now I'm a whiskey man. Love the stuff. Jameson's preferably.

Drink some decent beer, maybe? My favourite is called Stone & Wood - it's a locally brewed (Byron, Aus) beer and it is awesome. There are heaps of good beer, and heaps of shit beer.

Don't drink beer, drink alcohol that tastes good instead, regardless of how "manly" it is. Smirnoff Ice is my drink of choice.

I kinda got taken the piss out of for being a bit of a bloke when it comes to drink. I always used to order a pint of strongbow or something when all my girlfriends were drinking wine. So I kept drinking wine till I started to like it. It took ages, and I'd still rather have whiskey or SoCo and lemonade or something.

But seriously if you're not old enough, don't worry about it yet and when you grow up you'll realise it's not "Cool" to drink underage. It's actually retarded.
