Just drink Absinthe bro.
Trust me - it will rock your world.
Then it will rock your memories.
Then it will rock your stomach fluids.

Drink some Budweiser. I used to hate beer, I drank Budweiser and didn't mind it. I kept drinking Budweiser and grew to like it. Now I like a lot of beers and lagers, like Stella and Fosters and Carlsberg. It's weird but true.

So, like many not-manly men, I'm cursed with the inability to get past the taste of beer. I've never made it past half a bottle on my own. I'm normally able to take a good first drink, but after that the taste limits me to just sips at a time. Between me and friends, we normally just have beer.
Any suggestion on how to get past the taste, or condition myself to like.
Perhaps I'm wrong . . . but you're having crap beer aren't you? Miller lite, bud lite, coors light? Maybe Heineken when you're feeling extra fancy, or Corona during the summer?

Crap beer man. The reason American beer tastes are like that goes back to prohibition back in the thirties. All the beer places shut down for a while. Then when prohibition was ended there was a flood of companies, and the winners weren't the best tasting, but the ones with the best marketing. For decades our beer was the laughing stock of the civilized world, with about as much personality and character as a dead cat.

But then the microbrewery movement began in the late 80's and early 90's, gaining popularity largely due to the success of Jim Koch of Samuel Adams, and now we're against starting to kick ass in the world of beer and gain the respect of the world. Bud and Miller and still trying to gum up the works with how beer distribution works.

But the answer to your actual question, is to call around and fine a bar that has more than 10 tap varieties. Then go there and ask for samples. You WILL find something you like eventually, whether it is a dark porter with rich chocolate undertones or maybe a more fruity beer with hints of blueberry. Or just try Sam Adams. That is a damn good beer. Most of theirs are . . . except for that damn scotch ale and cranberry lambic. God I hate those.

You do realize that Budweiser is trying to be as bland and tasteless as possible. You're going in the wrong direction, try better beers, ones that actually have flavor to them. Some you may not like, but when you find one you genuinely like that you didn't have to get used to, you'll never want to go back.

1. stop drinking lager
2. force yourself to take frequent, whole mouthfuls
3. ????????
4. PROFIT!

What I mean is that there is a good chance you just don't like lager, but would enjoy an ale or bitter. Even if it's any beer though, forcing yourself to take big mouthfuls for a while will see you very quickly adjust to that being your way of drinking beer, and you'll find a little way down the line that you actually really enjoy it.

Plus you're sixteen, you'll learn to like it. Do you like whiskey? None of you are "manly men" at your age, so don't worry too much about appearing macho to your friends. Drink what booze you like, and let the fact you're making a decision about what you like rather than what you want to be seen drinking make you cool (but it's still worth learning to drink beer).

Finally, I'd recommend not revealing which country you live in in case 16 isn't old enough to be drinking there and the mods have moral panic about this discussion and wrath you.

Wanna know how to get past the taste of beer? Finish one and the others go down like water. Its true. I once had a week long bender with nothing but beer and every night the 1st beer was soooo hard to drink but I could drink the rest easily.

Simple answer: don't drink beer. Beer is utter swill and tastes like rancid piss.

Drink other stuff. There are many alcoholic beverages that taste awesome and will get you more pissed than beer ever could. For example, try downing a ton of Jagerbombs. That's Red Bull with a shot of Jagermeister. Tastes amazing and a handful or so of them will get you more drunk than 10 pints of any generic beer ever will.

Or, and I've only heard of this through whispered tales in the corners of taverns: The Snakebite and Black. I have no idea if its a real drink or not, but apparently its so tasty but SO heavily alcoholic that a lot of places in the UK don't even serve it because people drink too many and end up with alcohol poisoning.

That's a really odd request. It sounds like you haven't been drinking for very long.

There are the girlie drinks. You could try that. There's also liquor and wine. And there's a great variety of beers with different tastes.

It really doesn't sound like you've had a drink before. For almost everyone, taste isn't an issue after they've had a few. That's the whole reason drinks like the Flaming Dr. Pepper exist.

Beer is an aquired taste, basically what that means is you have to keep forceing yourself to drink it no matter how bad it tastes and eventually you'll get used to it.

This is wrong. As a British person (and therefore vastly experienced in drink) I feel the need to correct you.

Beer's normally a bit weaker than lager.
This is wrong. As an English person (and therefore vastly experienced in drink)(and because who actually refers to themselves as British) I feel the need to correct you.

Lager is a type of beer. You can tell yourself that only ales and stouts and bitters are really beer until you're blue in the face but beer is the collective term and it includes lagers.

That sentence makes about as much sense as "humans are typically taller than men".

OT: Just keep going at it. Half the effort is just getting older and half of it is perseverance.

Or, possibly, stop drinking it until you're old enough. According to your profile, you're only sixteen. Besides, at that age I seriously doubt you can get your hands on any kind of good beer, and are forced to make do with shite that tastes like it's already been drunk once. There is a world of difference between good and bad beers.
It's completly legal to drink when you're sixteen in Denmark, and many people start earlier than that.
OT: Try another kind of beer :p Leffe is nice and so is most czech beers

step one!: organize a beercup with your friends so they can pressure you.

step two!: get forced to drink beef while playing football (the one the europeans always win)

step three: when you get that kind of slammed and tierd you want care what the hell you are drinkingl.

step four: enjoy beer once a year (tested)

tips: use a cooler, use Carlsberg and most importent of all dont let someone bear-hug you when you have to pee (you WILL pee your pants)

this has been papirfakirs guide to liking beer hope you take advantage of it and have a great experience

If you don't like it, you shouldn't drink it. Beer has a really bitter taste, that you don't find in alot of other stuff, so maybe that is why you don't like it, I'm not sure. But if you like sweet more, you can always get a mix-drink, like Safari or that kind of stuff. You might find that better, and it can still get you drunk ^^ Just dont mix the two.

Stop drinking it. You're too young for it to taste good, it's just peer pressure from your friends who are also just drinking it to seem cool.

It's all about the flavor, also on tap is ALWAYS better than the bottled version. If beer is not your thing, definitely try Cider. It's sweeter and it goes down a bit easier. If not, sweetened wine like Mescarto is pleasant. Otherwise just stick with pre-mixed drinks with spirits. Taste better and will get you more drunk. Pineapple and Malibu with some coconut juice (and a touch of lime if that's your thing) tastes great, it's not too strong but strong enough to loosen you up a bit. Different alcohol have different types of drunk as well. Hennessey and coke will give you a really relaxing, low feeling like you just got out of a hot shower.
