I know this may inspire a flamewar, but I need to ask it anyway.

why do people hate mlp:fim without even giving the show a chance just based on what they see on forums. this can be said for many things, but for mlp:fim its rather annoying, and what caused the lastest great flame war in the history of the internet, yes some fans may be annoying, but then again when are fans not annoying in their own way?

I am not pointing at those that have watched a few episodes and belive they don't like it, they gave gave it a chance. I'am pointing to those that outright don't give it a chance just because of the fans.

And its not like it's hard just go to youtube, its easy. Also, if you think its a show for little girls only, then watch epoisde 25, if you still think it for little girls, then i don't know what to do, but just give the show a chance. and then well wether or not you like it is up to you, just give the show a chance instead of fans making you too scared to like or not like the show.

if you watch it, and don't like it, I won't hate you for it, and most fans won't hate you for giving the show a chance. Who knows, you may like it.

And to end this thread of a high note, here some great music:

Because threads like this exist...seriously.

People are sick of being told to like the show and being told that it's a great show and being told it's not girly.

If you had a Jehovah's Witness come to your door every day asking you to convert, you might not have hated the religion but you sure as hell will soon enough if they don't take no as answer. There are way too many MLP people who treat the show as their religion and seem to think that if they don't convert at least 100 people, they don't get to go to MLP heaven.

The irony is that all those who create threads that are insulting the show brought me to it.

For the same reason people hate things like Twilight, Justin Beiber and the like. a combination of bad publicity/not being the target audience and the fans themselves are kinda annoying. Y'know, like fans always are.

Edit:

I want you to read that again. anyway I was disappointed by MLP by the time I watched it, but I think it was because it was so hyped by the bronies that I only would have been impressed by it granting me eternal life and beamed fresh muffins and swimsuit models into my living room.

It's the new Anime - but 1000x times worse (fanbase, that is).

Probably because its fanbase attracts too much attention to itself. Eventually it gets on people's nerves.
Also, plenty of people see how easy it is to troll the community, so there's that.

Also, can we not have one of these threads again? Please?

Isn't it by the same people who did the Power Puff Girls? I heard that somewhere...also the art is pretty similar.

I've never watched MLP:FiM but if it's got the same twisted sense of humour as the Power Puff Girls then I'm sure I wouldn't mind it.

This is a serious question?

The quality of the show is subjective, some like it, some don't, and the polarization coupled with established cultural perceptions on masculinity cause the friction.

I watched a good ammount of the show and still hated it, Also threads like this are just going to make the people who have not watched it not want to watch it even more because everyone is fed up with it. Its like all the memes from 4Chan they just get used so often everyone hates them in the end. same goes for this show, which i'm sure was popular on 4chan too and much of its initial popularity was probaly enforced by members of 4Chan. I'm not getting at 4Chan but there is just a time when everyone needs to shut up about something.

I'll slap my dick on the table right now and proudly exclaim that I don't give a shit either way.

This whole thing is so 2-3 months ago.

Some people like it, some don't, some will want to voice one of those opinions; whining about it and questioning why people have teh upinyunz is more annoying than either of them.

Dude you sound like a little girl right now. People are going to dismiss the show because it's my little pony. I play Pokémon on my DS on my lunch break; I get told that's a Childs game you know what I do? Nothing, I ignore the comments, I enjoy my in-depth RPG with it's pretty monsters. I don't try to shove my activities down other peoples throats who have absolutely no interest in them.

It doesn't matter if they haven't played it or not it's just that people associate Pokémon with kids. People too associate My little pony with female children and won't watch it.

I know, I know the old 'Don't knock it until you try it' but tell me, have you ever kissed a dude, wore a g-string, robbed a bank or mud wrestled with an obese vetenarian? And why not? Because they seem like bad ideas...right, sure you might enjoy one of those activities afterwards (Or feel incredibly dirty) but your mind tells you none of those things are good ideas. Neither is a grown man sitting down to watch an episode of my little pony, no matter how great it is once you get into it.

But seriously, don't let the fact there's people out there who won't give it a chance ruin your enjoyment of the show. If you like it it shouldn?t matter who doesn?t. You also shouldn't come onto a forum and try to get people into it by sounding like a whiny child either. Not good for the old street cred or whatever you kids are saying these days?it?s still street cred right? I?m still cool aren?t I? Word.

Pretty much. OP, you're making us look bad. I watch the show because it's funny, in order to appease my inner 5-year-old girl (we all have one), and because, honestly, there are plenty of far worse ways to waste 20 minutes.

But if you don't like it? I don't really care. I understand not wanting to watch it, and it really isn't some kind of groundbreaking work of fiction that everyone must see. It's a fun cartoon. About ponies. That's it. Cool your jets, people.

Only the owner of the thread can ask a mod to lock it. Report instead if you seriously think these guys are trolls.

It would have helped to have had MLP in the thread title.

...

Anyway, I don't see what the fuss is about. When I want to watch a show aimed at young teen girls, I'd watch H2O: Just add wate, which is definitely in the top three Australian shows aimed at teen girls featuring mermaids to be produced by Jonathan Shiff[footnote]He also did Ocean Girl and The New Adventures of Ocean Girl[/footnote], though the third series doesn't seem as good.

Or maybe The Elephant Princess, which I'm not so fussed on, but still is the best Australian show about a New Zealand teenager who finds out she's a princess of a magical Indian themed country that I've yet seen. Also, there's an elephant.

Probably 10 or so being made somewhere on this site. And thats partially why I think so many threads are made consistently is because people keep trolling the bronies, causing them to ask this community why. Honestly, if we just left them be, we would let them be.

I'm going to pause you, Pokemon is not in depth or deep in any sense, its basically rock paper scissors, the RPG. Its mechanics don't have much depth to them other then 'TRAIN TILL THIS POKEMON IS AWESOME, THEN RAPE GYM MASTERS POKEMON, THEN REPEAT' tell me if I'm wrong, but there were only 2 goals to Pokemon that stayed consistent, beat the legend 7 and catch them all. Sometimes its beat X EVIL ORGANIZATION. It doesn't make it bad, it just makes it simple.
To put it simply, all fans, no matter what, shove their fandom down others throats, believe it or not, playing Pokemon at Lunch around people is technically shoving it down their throats, same with wearing a shirt with Jesus on it, it may be simple, but its the same deal.

You should take that advice, theres a difference between trying something harmless *watching My Little Ponies, since were on the topic* in comparison to robbing a bank, which is a harmful act. This is to where your analogy / example falls flat, your comparing a show, that is only there for entertainment, to something that involves holding people up and taking all the money to support a buisness. You sound like the stereotypical macho man "MEN, must be STRAIGHT, BUFF and able to PROCREATE with ANY woman on the PLANET that is a hot sexy BABE for all time. And if they DON'T their not a MAN!"

But seriously, don't let the fact there's people out there who won't give it a chance ruin your enjoyment of the show. If you like it it shouldn?t matter who doesn?t. Actually, none of these threads have been whiny like "OH WHY MR ESCAPIST DOES BILLY HAVE TO PICK ON MY FAVORITE SHOW!" No, their asking why people can't shut up their hate, which is where the problem lies. Want these threads to stop appearing, stop preaching your hate like your a holy crusader on a battle against the evil un-true traitors.
Seriously Escapist Community, want MLP to stop being everywhere and making threads on why everyone hates the show, then stop preaching your hate like since you like something else your automatically better.

Most people only need to hear the title of the show to realise that it's not for them. It's a kid's show, and one targeted specifically at little girls. No amount of episode examples will ever change that fact. It's about colourful unicorns. Regardless of how you feel about the themes it deals with, it is a show made specifically to capture the attention of young girls, and getting defensive doesn't change that.

There's no shame in liking kid's shows, but it riles people up when you say "it's not just for little girls!" It kind of is. You are not the target audience, but it's fine that you enjoy it. I myself enjoy shows like Fairly Odd Parents, but I am well aware that I am not the target audience, and acknowledge from which genre it comes.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is cute, but too much so for my taste. I have seen some of it, but I wouldn't sit down to watch it. What you need to understand is that, from the moment they hear its title, people know EXACTLY what the show will feature. The title tells us. From that, most people can deterine whether or not it suits their taste. It's a children's show, and presented in a manner that will entertain children. Most adults have no problems with that, but are not interested in watching it themselves, and get irritated by people shoving it down their throats. Regardless of how deep you feel the themes are, or the emotional significance of episode x, its manner of presentation is simply inaccessible to most older people.
