You should take that advice, theres a difference between trying something harmless *watching My Little Ponies, since were on the topic* in comparison to robbing a bank, which is a harmful act. This is to where your analogy / example falls flat, your comparing a show, that is only there for entertainment, to something that involves holding people up and taking all the money to support a buisness. You sound like the stereotypical macho man "MEN, must be STRAIGHT, BUFF and able to PROCREATE with ANY woman on the PLANET that is a hot sexy BABE for all time. And if they DON'T their not a MAN!"
I was going to address all of your points, with valid ones of my own but then I realized I would be getting into some kind of unwinnable war...yeah unwinnable it's a word look it up. Anyway, I understood each of your points as you carefully laid them out, and was nodding at some of them, because they were well constructed and put forward in a way that made sense. They did seem slightly aggressive (ALthough could be the internet's fault) which did ever so slightly hurt my feelers there but it's ok I am a man I can take it. *lip quiver*
Anyway the above quote is when you took it to absurd levels. I don't understand how me using an exaggerated analogy makes me a Stereotypical macho man. And while we?re on the topic, I have never heard of a macho man say 'Procreate' they say diddle, like real men. What I was trying to get across was the 'Don't knock it until you try it' Defense is retarded. If you have looked at every oppertunity that has presented itself in your life to try something and I mean EVERY oppertunity and said 'Lemme give it a shot!' Then you should be a spokesperson for Dos Equis cause that's fuckin amazing.
My original point is this folks, don't be all pissy about what you like and ask nay sayers to stop nay...saying. Because they won't and you are just going to get upset and defend your hobby more vehemently, which takes time away from actually enjoying said hobby. I am not in any way against My Little Pony; I grew up with three sisters and was surrounded with the things. But I am one of the people who disregarded the show because it was my sisters who were playing with the things and not me. It seems girly and childish to me. If my wife or daughter wanted to watch it I would be right there watching it with them. But doing it alone would just seem odd. If that makes me a macho man uber douche to you then that I am.
Lastly, you seem to have the term 'Shoving down people's throat' all wrong and I hope that hasn't caused you and physical or psychological damage throughout your life. Me sitting in the corner of a room, playing my DS on my lunch break with the sound off is not 'Shoving it down peoples throats'. I might be subtly advertising the Nintendo DS console and Pokémon game, but unless they get really close to me they can't see what I am playing.
Me climbing atop my desk, tearing off my shirt and loudly proclaiming 'This game fucking rocks and all you people who don't like it better start liking it or there's going to be trouble around here!!' Would be shoving it down their throats. (That's another exaggerated Analogy btw)
