Bro, have you read Twilight? I did. I was also the target audience at the time I read it. I was still alarmed by the sheer level of abusiveness in Bella and Edward's relationship.

But to respond to your point... I agree, fans *are* really annoying. People liking stuff is fine - it's when they talk about it on and on and on that annoys everyone else.

As someone with a penis, I can safely say no, I'm not the target audience of Twilight. All I ever managed to read of Twilight is the first chapter, which bored me silly, so I didn't bother reading anymore.

Also if you read my post again,You'll notice I responded mostly about how a lot of people dislike something before ever giving it a try. Y'know, like what the OP is asking about.

Trolls. Trolls everywhere. I'm going to call on the mods to lock this thread now.
Only the owner of the thread can ask a mod to lock it. Report instead if you seriously think these guys are trolls.
Only the OP can be assured that the mods will do what they ask, but surely anyone can make a suggestion?

Pony threads have started flamewars even with legitimate discussion value. This is just another "Why do people have the opinions they do?" thread. I really don't see it ending well.

I have but one thing to say on this subject.

People have chosen to define their lifestyle by a childerens tv show.

At least the rest of us who have interests have an interest in the medium, genre or sport.I find the whole thing very closed off ironically lampooning the idea of acceptance by accepting no other animated works.

Funny that.
Find me one person who likes mlp: fim and likes nothing else please.

But holy 3 pony threads today.

I guess so, but it's rather rude to ask a mod to ban someone else's thread which isn't necessarily that bad. Go ahead though, they'll at the very least check it out.

I know this may inspire a flamewar, but I need to ask it anyway.

why do people hate mlp:fim without even giving the show a chance just based on what they see on forums. this can be said for many things, but for mlp:fim its rather annoying, and what caused the lastest great flame war in the history of the internet, yes some fans may be annoying, but then again when are fans not annoying in their own way?

I am not pointing at those that have watched a few episodes and belive they don't like it, they gave gave it a chance. I'am pointing to those that outright don't give it a chance just because of the fans.

And its not like it's hard just go to youtube, its easy. Also, if you think its a show for little girls only, then watch epoisde 25, if you still think it for little girls, then i don't know what to do, but just give the show a chance. and then well wether or not you like it is up to you, just give the show a chance instead of fans making you too scared to like or not like the show.

if you watch it, and don't like it, I won't hate you for it, and most fans won't hate you for giving the show a chance. Who knows, you may like it.

And to end this thread of a high note, here some great music:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H91QXNr41FM&feature=related
The only people who should give this a chance, are girls in primary school, that's my view.

Its like asking 30 year old women 'go on, Biker Mice from Mars is an excellent show, its got great writing, direction and oh, the casting is just first rate' who the fuck will watch it when its directed again, at primary school children, this time young boys?

Demographic, demographic, de-mo-gra-phic!

So I don't care if people like it or not, I'm extremely puzzled by the fact its so popular, but whatever, I won't give it a chance. It's about ponies for crying out loud!

What you need to understand is that, from the moment they hear its title, people know EXACTLY what the show will feature.
I pretty much agree with you apart from with this point. After hearing the title, I definitely did not expect the show to feature dragons, manticores, the god of chaos, and various other mythical creatures being defeated by ponies. I expected tea parties and... well... pretty much just tea parties.

OT: This thread has been done a million times. People hate on My Little Pony both because it is outside of cultural norms and because it is popular. It inevitably gets in peoples faces, and instead of simply ignoring it and moving on, they for some reason get the impression that raging about it and insulting everyone who watches the cartoon will make it go away.

This kind of attitude is annoyingly common on the internet, and by making threads like this one you are just as guilty as the people who needlessly rage against the show (or anything else for that matter). This thread won't stop the people hating on the show, it will just enrage them.

All right.

It because every g**damn moment, I'm getting it shoved down my throat. I literally can't go anywhere on the Internet except for porn sites where I don't see a bloody pony avatar popping up.

I watch it, it was cute. Hell, I recomend it as a family show. But it dosen't make any bloody freaking sense for this to pop up like this.

Let be honest here, I have been a very, very nice person regarding this Show's Fanbase. I'm loosing said niceness.

Because threads like this exist...seriously.

People are sick of being told to like the show and being told that it's a great show and being told it's not girly.

If you had a Jehovah's Witness come to your door every day asking you to convert, you might not have hated the religion but you sure as hell will soon enough if they don't take no as answer. There are way too many MLP people who treat the show as their religion and seem to think that if they don't convert at least 100 people, they don't get to go to MLP heaven.
yeah it is getting a bit irritating honestly. if you like the show, fine. if you dont like the show, but gave it a chance, fine. if you dont like the show, but never gave it a chance, well whatever, it doesn't really matter that much.

nowadays all i ever see is MLP fans coming on complaining about people disliking the show, almost never anyone bashing the show itself. so seriously, some people like it, some people dont, some wont give it a chance and you sure as shit wont change that by creating the 2000th thread in the last 2 months asking people to give it a shot.

i like the show. i find it entertaining, even if a couple of the things that seem particularly aimed at smaller children (and a number of the names), bug me. but please, PLEASE just stop making threads asking why people dont like My little pony, friendship is magic.

and for the love of christ, dont call it a serious question (not saying it isn't serious but hold on). it really isn't that important for you to know why people dont like a frigging tv show, especially since people have posted their opinions on the last 500 threads about this. the misleading title angers even more people (like me... a little), because it made them think it was about something more important in life than some oddly coloured horses who can talk/use magic/fly, and their nice looking country

so yeah, not that serious.

You should take that advice, theres a difference between trying something harmless *watching My Little Ponies, since were on the topic* in comparison to robbing a bank, which is a harmful act. This is to where your analogy / example falls flat, your comparing a show, that is only there for entertainment, to something that involves holding people up and taking all the money to support a buisness. You sound like the stereotypical macho man "MEN, must be STRAIGHT, BUFF and able to PROCREATE with ANY woman on the PLANET that is a hot sexy BABE for all time. And if they DON'T their not a MAN!"
I was going to address all of your points, with valid ones of my own but then I realized I would be getting into some kind of unwinnable war...yeah unwinnable it's a word look it up. Anyway, I understood each of your points as you carefully laid them out, and was nodding at some of them, because they were well constructed and put forward in a way that made sense. They did seem slightly aggressive (ALthough could be the internet's fault) which did ever so slightly hurt my feelers there but it's ok I am a man I can take it. *lip quiver*

Anyway the above quote is when you took it to absurd levels. I don't understand how me using an exaggerated analogy makes me a Stereotypical macho man. And while we?re on the topic, I have never heard of a macho man say 'Procreate' they say diddle, like real men. What I was trying to get across was the 'Don't knock it until you try it' Defense is retarded. If you have looked at every oppertunity that has presented itself in your life to try something and I mean EVERY oppertunity and said 'Lemme give it a shot!' Then you should be a spokesperson for Dos Equis cause that's fuckin amazing.

My original point is this folks, don't be all pissy about what you like and ask nay sayers to stop nay...saying. Because they won't and you are just going to get upset and defend your hobby more vehemently, which takes time away from actually enjoying said hobby. I am not in any way against My Little Pony; I grew up with three sisters and was surrounded with the things. But I am one of the people who disregarded the show because it was my sisters who were playing with the things and not me. It seems girly and childish to me. If my wife or daughter wanted to watch it I would be right there watching it with them. But doing it alone would just seem odd. If that makes me a macho man uber douche to you then that I am.

Lastly, you seem to have the term 'Shoving down people's throat' all wrong and I hope that hasn't caused you and physical or psychological damage throughout your life. Me sitting in the corner of a room, playing my DS on my lunch break with the sound off is not 'Shoving it down peoples throats'. I might be subtly advertising the Nintendo DS console and Pokémon game, but unless they get really close to me they can't see what I am playing.

Me climbing atop my desk, tearing off my shirt and loudly proclaiming 'This game fucking rocks and all you people who don't like it better start liking it or there's going to be trouble around here!!' Would be shoving it down their throats. (That's another exaggerated Analogy btw)

Sure, any fans can be annoying. But MLP fans are borderline rapists with their fandom, basically yelling it into the ear of anyone around on repeat until they lose their voice...
THEY'RE STEALING OUR JOBS AND OUR WOMEN!

Jesus Christ, you're getting a little hysterical don't you think?

OT: People 'hate' on it because threads like this. I know that threads like this are also a reaction to people hating on the show in the first place but whining for people to try everything you like just because you like it, while probably not asking people what they like and sampling it all, is silly.

Why not just let people watch what they want? People like myself saw all the Pony avatars, skimmed the topics where people said they enjoyed it and decided to sample it myself. After the initial shock of "OHMYGODAMIGAYNOW?" I found it enjoyable and simply fun that made me smile. If people don't want to watch it, chances are they won't enjoy it.

Because I'm entitled creating an opinion on something based on prior knowledge before I actually subject myself to the thing. I've never cut my arm off with a chainsaw, but I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna like it.

YAAY, you got my point. I'm not trying to defend the show, but the way you stated all of it was something along the lines of "Suck it up, you little shits" but now I understand your points. Didn't mean anything by the Macho Man thing, but the last line on the thing I quoted out of you was something that highly reminds me of that Macho Man stereotype.

It keeps happening, rage at any fan about how you don't like something every second and their bound to retaliate. Thats why these threads keep being made, because people can't bloody stop poking at harmless shows. For fucks sake people, don't crusade hate at even a sight of the thing you hate when its even harmless.

It's the old problem that will forever haunt the internet.
The eternal battle between one side and another.
The great conflict across all of time.

Seriously if it exists people will complain.
The fact that it has spread beyond the show and into everything else(yes absolutely everything)must be annoying for non fans.

I am a Brony personally and I understand that at times it is a bit out of control for a fandom. The fact that now when I type my username into Google images I get mainly Ponies because of all the avatars on here.
I do agree though it's annoying when they hate but haven't given it a chance.

Oh and please people
Use the search bar in the future to search the archives for Pony threads. There are literally hundreds of them and should answer all your questions on the topic.

I hate to admit it but I gave it a chance.
What I don't hate to admit is that I thought it was complete bollocks. I can't even begin to explain how much I was put off within the space of a single episode, it was just...Balls.

Also, "bronies" (god how that term turns my stomach) won't shut the fuck up about it.
I wish I had that picture about the three different types of MLP fans, that would sum up my point nicely right now.
