Mixed ... I don't think her fiscal policies we're all that bad, but I believe she implemented them in a manner in which was ultimately counter-productive ...

Not forgetting she was one of the least ethical and moral of political leaders (And all politicians are scum). That and she was a tyrant o.o

well i hate thatcher as i do the Tories, but hell if they want to make a film i just dont care atall, it just means i dont have to watch it.
but my problem with her is she was a criminal, plain and simple, she justified her actions by saying shes the PM and thats that, which is just flat-out illegal, she violated human rights, she takes a country to war under false pretences and this film had better show all these asects, she is not a women who deserves a rose tinted view

Stupid b*tch, there's still tons of coal under England and we're just going to waste that?
that isnt really her fault, the amount of coal under Briton now isnt extracted because it costs more to extract it then its worth, so just slowed extraction when it was still just barely economical

If you have the English flag as a image for your avatar and say SALUTE ENGLAND! In all your posts, then yes, you will be awesome.

But I hate that stone cold *****, and I hope she gets eaten alive by maggots! Oh wait..

Actually...we kinda started the war. Thatcher ordered the British Navy to open fire on a civilian Argentinian ship that wasn't anywhere near the fleet. The Argentinians attacking us was a retaliatory gesture. Thatcher wanted a war to distract the British public from the fact she was slowly but surely screwing anybody who wasn't rich and white, I.E., Conservative. :/

OT: I hate Thatcher and Meryl Streep, so this movie will be on my LA LA LA THIS DOESN'T EXIST list from now on, methinks.

I'm an American and I'm honestly kind of shocked at the number of fellow Americans who have never even heard of Thatcher. Then again, she left office when I was still in school, and I'm older than most of the demographic here, so I guess I shouldn't be so very shocked.

I think in the US she is regarded in a similar way to President Regan. Very very polarizing.

Yes. It does.

I'm presuming that you found them funny?

Be aware your answer could mean a demotion in awesomeness...
Yes, I find them both hilarious
Eddie Izzard is my favorite stand-up
followed by George Carlin
Then Mitch Hedberg
Then Jimmi Carr
One of the things that cracks me up the most about Jimmi Carr is when he came to New York to do Comedy Central Presents he talked very slow for the American audience. It's like an added joke for everyone who was paying attention.

How did I do?
Acceptable, my colonial friend. Acceptable.

In all seriousness, you have a brilliant sense of humour.

ive heard just a bit of her various exploits, and i can say i find her pretty amusing... she has an air of almost cartoonish politician villiany about her. kinda reminds me of cruella deville from 101 dalmations; she certainly seems like an ice queen to me, but i cant really comment on the actual effect of whatever shes done.

Say what you want about Thatcher, she got things done.
However, the same could be said for Hitler, what I'm not sure is exactly a positive point...Not that I want to be seen comparing her to Hitler, just that in governing not doing things is sometimes a large part of the job too.
Any effective action is positive as compared to inaction or ineffective action.
I'd broadly agree with you, but it also depends on what the effect is. There could be said to be strong evidence between Thatcher's start on the deregulation of the finance industry and the mess we're in at the moment, not helped by the politicians after her who just continued the deregulation for immediate growth.

British.

I don't like her
of course i don't. But somebody must have done
she was in office for 11 years. And yes the film may dance around the working class's struggle with her complete disregard for them and her lack of compassion for community
but i don't think there's any way they'd make this film with her in a central role and not have it about the terrible things she did to a class she didn't understand nor care for

and meryl streep?
sure she looks the part, but i'm going to hate that film i'm sure
why did it have to be an actress i like?
and also... why an american? i'm sure she'll do a great job, it just seems to me that there are plenty of british actresses that could have done a fantastic job

i'm still going to give it a chance of course
it may be a completely fair and impartial depiction of her and her actions and not tweely siding with her over all her less popular decisions
so i'm looking forward to it despite remaining cynical

I've heard her name mentioned in passing and can tell that not many people thought highly of her. I'm apathetic.

Being British I feel offended that they're making a film about her (something in the realms of Dracula came to mind when I first heard about the project) I personally will be not watching the film.
Wouldn't 'Iron Maiden' be a more appropriate title (ba dum tish)
If I were to make the film I would end it by putting up a message to Ms Thatcher reading "NOW FUCK OFF AND DIE"

American, heard of her in Comparitive Government class.

It was mostly about how she went towards privatizing the industries in Britain. However it wasn't a history class so it was pretty vague
