I got a roof over my head, I got a family, I draw as a pastime, I live in a nice city, I have a good education, I traveled to places around the world, I have food on the table, I have a computer stocked with games, and I've had many memorable experiences in my 15 year old life.

Yes, I'm pretty happy.

I'm sorry what's wrong with waiting for some one you care about to have sex. I'm not saying the girl has to be to be the one you marry but at least I want to have some feeling for her other than she's hot. There's way to many people. I know who regret having their first with some girl they met in a bar or at a party.

Ot. I dirft in and out of happiness for the most part.

You kidding? I love my life! It's awesome!

Yes, I'm single, a non-drinker, a non-smoker and I'm never going to touch drugs. How does that in any way stop me from enjoying my life? I can still hang with friends, play games, laugh about the smallest and most random things.

Maybe because I'm outgoing I've never needed anything to get me out doing things (Like acting, singing, dancing, partying, being loud, slowing down, reading, gaming, chatting, sleeping) and that's enough for me :)

I can't help but think that I'll be alive much longer to enjoy it as well

I don't really see why I need drugs, alcohol, smoking and sex to make me enjoy my time with friends and playing video games. Maybe you play Final Fantasy and have horrible friends (no offense ment). That would explain a lot.

No it's not just slightly condescending to say outright that your life is better then mine because I don't drink or smoke etc, It's INCREDIBLY condescending.

Do you know me? Do you know how I live my life? Do you know what I find enjoyable? Do you know what I don't enjoy?

Different people enjoy different things, people go through different things, people are DIFFERENT. So to say that your life is flat out better solely cause you enjoy drinking, doing drugs, sleeping around with floozies is outright wrong.

EDIT: to clarify I couldn't care less what you do with your life but to say its better cause of your lifestyle? No. Wrong.

More stupid questions from stupid people, just like IF YOUSE GUYZ ARE ATHIESTS... THEN... WHY ARENT U CHRISTIAN? HOW DO YOU LIVE?

Honestly people, I thought this forum was smarter than this. You are seriously messed up if you think doing any of these things is the only way to be happy.

Killing yourself slowly makes you happy? Umm every time you drink alcohol in an excessive (read:get drunk even in the slightest) your brain permanently becomes dumber.

And it makes you happy? Wow.

I do smoke, don't drink (anymore) and don't do any other drugs beyond ones prescribed (anymore). Why? Because I have done lots of damage to various important organs. Liver, kidneys and the like. My renal system is borked. My brain chemistry is buggered, not all the chemical's fault, but mostly. I had a great time when I did do those things. Kept down jobs, had friends, all the stuff people say you can't do on drugs. Even successfully completed a degree. But the long term stuff has broken me it must be said.

A simple question.

Are you happy?

I've noticed (and no, I'm not the only one who've noticed this, far from it) that there's a lot of self-gratulatory backpatting whenever someone states that he/she does not drink, does not use drugs, does not smoke and 'wants to wait for the right girl/guy'.

Now, I personally am of the variety that likes to drink, likes to smoke, likes to use all sorts of drugs and is of the opinion that sex is just sex, with or without 'Hollywood Love'.

I'd say I'm pretty happy. Cheap fulfillments? Certainly. Fast highs, deep lows? You bet. But I am a happy man. However, since I view the world through my own eyes, I can not understand how other people can... enjoy life without those fun things.

You enjoy games, you say? Well, so do I! But some times they're even more fun with drugs or alcohol!
You enjoy hanging around with friends, you say? Well, so do I! But some times hanging out with friends is even more fun when my dick is inside her vagina!

So, without being condenscending (well, I suppose I am slightly... But no offense ment), I'd say that my life is better than yours (that is, if you don't smoke, drink, do drugs, have casual sex). This is just my experience, and is in no way an absolute truth.

Still, are you happy? Are you really, really happy that you're living a, possibly, healthy but, in my eyes, boring life?

Disclaimer for emphasis: I'm not saying you need these things to be happy. I'm sure you can be happy without these, in my eyes, fun activities. I'm just at a loss how.

Here, here mate! Im all over the drink and drugs....need to work on casual sex thing though...

Hollywood love is bull****
our relationship does and will take constant work, and does not just work, we didnt see each other and start kissing, we have been 'dating' for 2 years, and probably will for 2+ more until we both get out of college and can freakin afford to get married
there will be hard times (once a month) and easy times, but i love her truly and will stick with her through it all
I stay away from alcohol (i have a drink once in a long while, thats it, i dont smoke, i dont do drugs (for that matter, prescription or illegal)
i am a gamer and that makes up a fair portion of my life, but my favorite hobby is working with computers
i am a generally happy person (not happy happy joy joy, but you will not often find me angry) and throughout all i consider myself fortunate and blessed
i have a good family, good friends, and do not want to change my life
im religious, although not terribly strong in my convictions
if i had a chance to retry my life, i would do the same thing

Yeah. Having fun with substances from time to time is incredibly fun. And certainly something that adds something more to my experience of life.

And I explicitly said that it's probably not the only way to be happy, although I can't imagine how you could be happy without all those fun little substances.

What's the point in being intelligent and being a grumpy, boring, easily angered old coot?

I was almost convinced of your moral superiority, until I noticed the rather aggressive tone of voice writing and your condenscending attitude towards people who enjoy casual sex. 'Floozies' are people too, y'know?

Not boasting, although I can't deny that I did post it to counterbalance the self-gratulatory 'OMG, we don't drink, smoke and wait for the right girl. We're so awesome and cool' smugness that's lingering around here.

To be a slight dick, you did care enough to notify me specifically of your apparent indifference.
I can't say I've ever picked up any sort of behaviour of that sort about here. One may have to do a bit of investigation to actually come upon those sort of remarks in a place such as this.

And on the whole 'apparent indifference' thing, it turns from indifference to annoyance when people decide to openly boast about their sometimes-illicit activities.

I could write this long, drawn out post on why I personally do not smoke or drink (Although sex, yes please!) but I'll just boil it down to personal bias.

I don't do the first three, however I do have a wonderful girlfriend at the moment, whom I care a lot for and have been with for about 6 months, but not had sex yet, so I guess that I fulfill your criteria. The answer to your question is yes, I am very happy at the moment, I get more pleasure out of being with her, traveling and reading/games than I do getting wasted, high or screwing randoms.

- I don't like the idea of a hang-over.
- I don't like the idea of sounding like my grandmother thanks to smoking; voice of a man and coughing her lungs out. Seriously, when she coughs on say, a birthday, everyone is quiet from shock.
- I don't like the idea of fucking up my brain with drugs.
- I prefer the warmth and comfort of a solid, lasting relationship with someone I can trust, someone I can share my life with and be happy with over short, emotionless sex. I cannot imagine myself having one-night-stands.

And I don't see what the first 3 points have to do with my happiness.

Can't find someone willing to sell me drugs, nor am I attractive enough to get sex of any kind (or indeed, any sort of social contact). Not interested in smoking but quite fond of alcohol.
But not all is wrong with the world, for I have a box of cookies and a bunch of ice cold cans of Coke.

I dont drink, do drugs etc. The main reason I may be unhappy is because I've never felt loved and cant find somebody. I cant find anybody at all, not even for casual sex. Because it isnt MY choice whether any of it happens, it's theirs. I probably wouldnt mind casual sex as long as I'd already lost my virginity and we made sure it wasnt really a thing, otherwise I'd feel guilty for sleeping with someone I don't care about.

I also don't drink and do drugs for two reasons. 1. I don't have the money to go out and get drugs and alcohol all the time. I wish I had a little extra money to go out to a bar now and then but I don't. and 2. Alcohol and drugs addiction runs in my family and I don't want to end up being like my grandpa and aunt and cousins.
