Would
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/10/eagle-eye-peripheral-adds-keyboard-support-to-ps3-fps-games/
entice you to buy a PS3?

I hear you say mouse and keyboard is the bestest thing ever for FPS (or even any game) so would being able to play in your preferred control system on PS3 exclusives persuade you to buy one?

(I don't know how you hide the url into a word or sentence. Sorry if this has been brought up before)

Edit. Just thought I would list a few exclusives just as a small reminder, God of war 3, MGS4, Modnation racers and heavy rain

Another edit. I think some people are getting the wrong end of the thread, it's not which is superior. It's if you were thinking of getting a PS3 but couldn't decide, would this push you over the edge and make you get one?

Yet another edit. It's amazing how many people sound insulted or in some way offended by this question.

I don't think that the selling point for PC gamers is a keyboard but rather the ability to modify their games heavily and enjoy a wide spectrum of non-mainstream titles.
So, while not being one of them, I would say not really.

No, I am more then happy with my cheap, Digital distributed games.
I enjoy modding, and I do not have a tv good enough for BluRay yet.
I also have a PS2 and Gamecube backlog; and I plan to buy the current gen when the next gen comes out.

Why yes, I am cheap.

If it supports a keyboard & a mouse & I can finally play Red Dead Redemption, Silent Hill, & Goldfinger, then yes, yes it would.

I game equally on my PS3, 360 and PC but I don't see why this would entice a PC gamer to buy a PS3 as really it is offering something they/I already have.

I guess if there are games that they are dying to play on the PS3 it's good but other than that I don't see much use for me personally.
Thats why I put pc exclusive, the ones who hate holding a controller can now play games that will never be on the pc, so they get the best of both worlds.

So i have to pay $60 US to buy something i already have. There is nothing that i would pick up off the PS3 to warrant both the purchase of the console and this peripheral.

Hasn't there been a Keyboard and mouse(not just an adapter) out for the ps3 for a while now?

Doesn't matter tho, its still a console and its still incredible restrictive and i already have my PC that works fine for everything.

And don't tell me about all the exclusives as none of them interest me enough to fork out a few hundred dollars for one or 2 games.

Another concern for me is that getting a comfortable mouse and keyboard setup on my couch is harder than it is on the desktop. It's just a different environment.

No. That's nice for PS3 gamers to have a control system worth something, but I don't want a PS3.

I have STALKER, why would I need a console for FPSes?

I have a PC already, I'm not splashing out £1000 (look what I did there? I claimed consoles were expensive, the reverse of which is claimed by ignorant console gamers. Is funny because PCs aren't that expensive!) or more for a PS3, the required hi-def TV and the PC I'll need anyway for internet and work anyway.

Plus, TF2 updates. Nah, I'm kidding, but PCs are just better for fixing stuff, especially considering the number of devs releasing half-finished games and not fixing them (I'm looking at you Bethesda. The community does not exist solely to fix your bug ridden games).
I mean, I heard about the fiasco about DLC releases on console, and about games crashing on consoles, and installing stuff.

Crashes! on a console! Back in the PSone era, I never heard of a game crashing! And installing stuff! Isn't that most console player's main complaint about PC gaming?

And finally, I love cracking the side open and knowing what bit does what, being able to fix it if it does break, unlike a console, which has to be wrapped in a towel or sent to Microsoft to be fixed (I know this is about the PS3, But I couldn't just leave the 360's ludicrous level of unreliability).

All those games sound terrible not my thing. I don't like GoW (otherwise I would have bought the first one when I had a PS2), I don't like MGS (Otherwise I would have bought the first one when I had a PS1), and I don't like the sound of Modnation racers (It's USP is a feature that is pretty regular for PC games).

While mouse and keyboard are good things in PC gaming, don't forget that you also get a lot of other stuff like:
- Instant forum support for whenever you have any problems going through the game
- In most cases absolute control over the patch version of your game (helpful in cases when patch breaks the game)
- Multitasking
- Helpfull side programs like Ventrillo, Team Speak.
- If you are into that than easy way to cheat in games (if you finished it or something) by both cheats and "trainers".
- And last (but not least) MODDING!

So so I wouldn't exchange my PC for a PS3 just because it has mouse and keyboard too :p.
Also I'm pretty sure that using mouse and keyboard in multiplayer games on a console is considered "Cheating" :p.

I always wanted to play the upocoming team ico game, mgs4 and lbp.
Though now i might as well wait the 5 years till ps3 games run on pc.
Btw the pc is ps2 and psone backwards compatible nowadays^^ unlike the new ps3
I need mouse and keyboards for rpgs rts and shooters, but there arent any good ones on ps3 that don't have a better pc version without autoaim.
Edit: just remembered, reddead might be great witrh mouse and keyboard.

This sums up my thoughts quite well. Besides, having to use a controller doesn't really bother me. The main reason I play games on the PC is because it's cheaper. Instead of having to buy a computer (for internet use, or making word documents) and a console, I can just buy a decent gaming PC. My current setup cost a little over $500.
