A question to Fallout 3 owners.

i did almost all sidequest but they took me like 2 weeks.The main quest took me 8 hours to complete

With full exploration, grabbing everything and mutilating every corpse I came across, plus general "standing there" about 60 hours...I wanted to take my time, alright?

I've done about three quarters of the quests, finished the story, completed broken steel and roamed around for a while. Loved every second of it. Except creepy buildings.

At release there was an article where to devs had a little competition to see who could beat it the fastest. They clocked in at 7 hours and some odd minutes. The main story is pretty short but there is tons of sidequests to where I invested 200 + hours into it.

Bout a week. Still, their are a few expansions I work my way through a little more every now and then. Great game but like Oblivion after you pass obsession it quickly becomes very boring.

I don't remember how many hours it took me to beat the game, but it took me at least 4 weeks of on/off gameplaying. Of course Fallout is one of those games that you could just fly through if you really wanted to, you know? I'm the kinda person that likes to wander about, talking to NPCs and finding hidden lil' things for hours and hours. EVENTUALLY, I'll get back to the main storyline. It works for me. ^___^

Hmm, i actually quitted playing the main storyline, since i wanted to wander around.
Actually, more beeing an ass than wandering.
Since i discovered the pickpocket/grenade swap trick, ah....hilarious...

If you focus purely on the main story it is very short, but if you go out and explore, it can last for months. The DLCs don't really last very long though, they can be done in about 2 hours (maybe 3 for PL).

funny because i wasted more hours on PL than in the main quest

i just loved the change of scenery from wasteland to swamps

I take my time ... I COULD blow through it +dlc in about a day. Although the real fun is just exploring. Sux to the main story do side quests. I have played through way too many times and on average I take about 100 hours for a full play through and around 150-200 for a lvl 30 character.

P.S. AND I'M STILL FINDING NEW STUFF! (Have you found the roach king yet? n_n I found him on like my 7th play)

Took about 100 hours to do the main quest, the DLC and the majority of the quests. I used fast travel quite alot but I also traveled to and from my house to drop off loot very often so it cancels out in a way.

I finished the main story in under 20 hours most definitely. However, I clocked in a total of 113 hours overall and still have some stuff I haven't done.

I finished it in a little under 6 hours. The DLCs were another 6 hours or so. And I've dumped easily 100 hours into just dicking around doing sidequests and becoming the evilest bastard to have ever lived.

I have played about 40 hours in, not even a quarter of the way through the main quests, only a few side missions done, no DLC. Just taking in the world and exploring at your own place will net you countless hours.

I can't remember when I beat it the first time, but on my third (see perfect) run (second run stopped midway through) I finished vanilla story at around 55-60 as I recall. I still have a lot of stuff to do though. I've only beaten 3/5 DLCs, and just did the bare essentials on Mothership Zeta, and I can't remember if I found all the ingots or not in The Pitt. Still enjoy playing through it though. Total clocked into the game must be over 200+ hours by now.

I think for some reason I dragged it to the Greener Pastures Disposal site to the East, then said fuck it on my first play though... Still looking for the Firelance on my third playthrough though, only could find that thing on my first one.

I've done all the dlc except Mother ship Zeta, the main story, all the achievement side quests (except strictly business) and I've explored most of the map and all of Point Lookout. I think it's about 74 hours or so.

My perfect playthrough is about, 180+ hours? Something like that. All DLC done, all sidequests, all unmarked quests, all main quests, all places explored and all special items uncovered.
