I haven't played the DLC, but playing through the main quest and doing a bunch of side quests took me about 30-35 hours I recall.

But I'm probably not a good example, since I didn't like the game that much and couldn't bring myself to explore a lot.

The main story is rather short, and frankly, the amount of effort that went into the extra sections of the game would gave it a sense of "you could possibly play this forever." And frankly, I enjoy a game that I can keep on coming back to despite beating the ending and getting max level.

Really, if you want to follow the main story, look for the quest at the top of your quest list. That should be the story quest. Every other one is optional. Look at either gamefaqs or speeddemosarchive to see how quick the real storyline is.

(SDA has a guy who beat the game in 30 minutes. He glitched a couple of the main quests, but even still. JUST doing main quests might level you a few levels, but should be done in about 3 ish hours.)

I dunno, I've spent about 50 hours on my playthrough and I still have half the quests to do =P

But then again I'm the second-greatest procrastinator in the world, mostly I'd just say "Hell, I'll do it later"

And of course I wouldn't do it later.

Probably around 50-60 hours to do all the main quests/named sidequests. The thing I loved about Fallout that at one point I decided to play just to wander the wastes. Just, let the minimap guide me to the next location, took in the scenery, found the Firelance...That was a lucky random encounter considering I almost walked away thinking i just got shot by a sentry bot, so I went to go find it. Because lucky me, I was facing the wrong way when I got hit so I didn't get to see what it was.

around 20-30 hours, not including the sidequests. with side quest, well over 70 hours of gameplay, with exploring and all quests

I have played the game through twice trying to get all the dialouge options, complete every sidequest, finding every possible way to die, killing all the behemoths, discovering every location, and finding all the bobbleheads and skill books. In all,i've clocked up about 9 months.

Eh, I'm not sure. I've spent hundreds of hours playing it. But if I replayed it, I'd say about 40-50 hours for the main quest and DLC, and probably some of the important side quests.

I completed the main story quite quickly, but I had made a savepoint before the final quest, so I went back to that save, and did all the sidequests and exploring, as well as leveling up to 20.

About 20 hours. I did the wasteland survival guide quest and then just continued on with the main story. The main story is super short and relatively easy to accomplish at lower levels.

I don't understand how people play this game for so long. Main quest and notable side quests ran me around 50 hours. No DLC mind you.

It's a good game. Great even, but it barely holds a candle to those that came before it.

It takes forever to complete the core game, but the DLC doesn't add very much time, save for point lookout.
Well, they add time, it's just time that I'd rather be spending on something else.

70+ hours on my main account, 12+ on my new modded account.

P.S. I have ALL 5 expansions, so my game is quite beefy.

My main account, with all the DLCs completed and every mission completed, clocked in at around 150 hours. However, it should be pointed out that I did a freaking HEFTY amount of exploration - I literally left no stone unturned (although I probably did, because it's a fucking huge world). I simply can't bring myself to rush through a game when there's so much to discover.

You expect me to keep track? I'm big on goofing off and exploring, man. I don't do this sort of thing to break speed records.

If you have tunnel-vision and do nothing but save the wasteland: Probably ten hours for the game plus a few hours for DLC, depending on your ability to not die.

If you try and do everything in the game: How many years have you got?
