Friends? What are these...friends of which you speak? Well okay, I have a boyfriend and some online friends whose sexuality's are a bit of a mixed bag and whose ethnicity's are basically entirely white. As for IRL, in sixth form my friends were predominately straight white males. Why is this? Well, as for the race thing, there simply aren't that many ethnic people out here in the countryside and with sexaulity there weren't that many gay/bi people (that I was aware of) in the school anyway, so those can be chalked up to the fact that the vast majority of people in the school were white and heterosexual anyway. As for gender, well the best means of forging friendships is through mutual interests and it just so happens that most of my interests are things which have a very male dominated audience. That coupled with the fact that the best way I'd made friends was through other friends, so while I had a few females friends, I was mostly just meeting other guys. I'm also not exactly the most outgoing fellow, so I suppose I was meeting a smaller range of people too.
