So the prince (it is is a prince) of Cambridge has finally been born.
Do the escapists have a any thoughts? Do you care, especially non-brits? Is it even on your radar?
Personally I'm a republican so I think the whole thing is redundant balls.

Ha! Beat you to it, vitriol and all...

And it'll be Prince (whatever they name the squit), Earl of Strathearn... as per courtesy title convention of the British Peerage and blahdy, blahdy, blah... -_-

EDIT: Good lord, the kid hasn't even been named, and he's got a wiki page, already...

And my apologies, Doitpow... he will indeed be addressed as Prince *name* of Cambridge...

"Joffrey" is trending in the UK on Twitter and I'm in tears of laughter at the onion's take on it. Names-wise, I'm hoping for Mammon.

Woman on the BBC just said "controlling the attention from the public and the media is increasingly problematic" over a montage of clips of Diana. Given that the media had a hand in the death of the baby's grandmother that's putting it fucking mildly. Leave it alone, let them celebrate in private and stop forcing me to pretend I care.

Great news for the Royal family, meh news for me. If he ever becomes my King, I'll pay closer attention but frankly, I'd rather everyone just give the Duke and Duchess the privacy they deserve during this exciting time for them.

I hope it's Mammon. That's Spanish for 'wanker' or 'huge wanker' (spelled 'mamón').

Really couldn't care less. The monarchy don't really have a huge deal of power in this country any more.*
*Well they do, but but don't use it.
I just feel sorry for my uncle. He has to control the press surrounding all of this (not just him obviously) and we all know what the press is like...

No porn AND a new prince? Can this day get any better for Brits?
I'd trade the latter to Satan personally to get the former back in a heartbeat, needless to say.

That said, it's legislation that has yet to go soon and it's a harsher version of something he failed to push through a couple of years ago. So hopefully it'll sink.

I weep for the pipe dreams of little boys all over the world who had hoped that the baby would be a girl who would grow up to be one of the most eligible women on Earth.

Someone tell me he won't look like Prince Charles.

As others have said before, The Onion's coverage of the event is by far the best available.

Anyway, I don't care about it at all and find it a bit weird that ordinary people would travel to Buckingham Palace just because someone had a baby. Then again I'm not even remotely a fan of constitutional monarchies, so I suppose I'm a bit biased.

Any reason for the general public to be a little bit more cheerful is a good one. When people are happy they spend more, and if they're spending it will be that bit more likely that I will get a half decent pay rise when the minimum wage does eventually go up. I'm indifferent to the media circus surrounding the birth, but I think that as a couple they have done a lot to improve the public's idea of the monarchy, and the monarchy brings crazy foreigners in, who spend their money on silly things. Again, making people spend their money is good, and I'm not bothered about the reasons.

'And no shits were given this day.'- The majority of Brits.

Although I do think the baby should be called Barry. King Barry. Brilliant.

I honestly don't see why anyone would care about this, a woman gave birth to a child, amazing. Oh he was born into a "royal" family, I guess that makes him special now?

Come on, this is such bullshit.

Already people are making this into a feminist and LGBT issue, even though all they've announced is the sex they're complaining it's a CIS privileged male like Kate had any choice in the matter:

OT: Well, let's hope they name it something cool. We need a Prince Karnage.

Yeah, I couldn't really care less about the kid, although it has been fun thinking up names.

When the gender wasn't known I had said "Peach", but now that everyone knows it's a boy, I'm hoping for either "Of Persia", "Fresh Prince" or Joffrey. That last one is currently 500/1 at the bookies by the way.

Oh, lord. It's political correctness gone mad. Excuse me while I go smash my head against a brick wall. I honestly can't tell if some of those are just trolls.

OT: Meh, I'm fairly indifferent. Hope they're happy, but it doesn't really affect me much.

Not calling him the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (his full title) and making a whole new place just for him is a disgrace to the crown. At least it won't be as disgraceful as the inevitable little fight that gets Kate scared.
