OP, really, what is the point you're trying to make? Assuming that the WiiU had a bad launch (which I can't really agree with but let's just roll with it) what are you trying to say? Because the numbers on their own are completely pointless, especially if they aren't completely supporting your arguments (as others have shown above).
So what is it? Bad launch sales so we shouldn't buy the WiiU? Bad sales so we shouldn't invest in Nintendo stock for the upcoming months? Bad sales so we should prepare ourselves for the death of the gaming console as a concept?
I never understood why gamers where so keen on comparing numbers. I'd understand it if you were a developer and questioning whether it's profitable to invest into making games for the WiiU or an economist trying to predict the way Nintendo's stock may go. As a gamer does it really matter to you that much? I mean, did you buy the WiiU?
In any case, I'll be skipping the entire "failed launch" debate now and return to the initial topic.

WiiU just isn't the Wii. When the 7 year old PS3 sells almost as many systems as a launch system it's not good.
So what is it with the WiiU that just isn't attracting buyers?
I ask again, did you buy it? If not, why?
For me, the reasons are this:
- pretty empty library which is partially filled with old games.
- no real evidence so far that the gamepad is the revolution Nintendo's trying to make it out to be. Nintendoland is nifty, so is ZombieU but they aren't much more than tech demos so far.
- I still have shit to play on my old consoles. In fact, everyone does. Hell, even the Wii's still getting new games. So, the old consoles have an established customer base that isn't going to drop everything just because a new shiny toy is out.
- not for me personally but I can imagine that many gamers don't want to give up on the online play provided by their old consoles yet. In fact, a huge community draws in new players as well (which would explain strong numbers for old consoles)
I think there are a couple of more reasons but that's what I can think of on the top of my head.
