Most people don't actually take "all you can eat" as a challenge. And in total that dude got 20 helpings, at that point I think you can stand to be done.

This is pretty pathetic, it's messed up that he wanted to make a joke out of himself, he probably doesn't even realize how idiotic he appears and thinks of himself as some kind of hero. Clearly the term all you can eat needs to be redefined, people will take advantage of anything otherwise.

I don't know which is worse, that he's honestly under the impression that this is a consumer issue, or that he felt that the best way to enforce a consumer issue was to call the cops.

I mean, for fuck's sake. The world is full of people being stabbed, mugged, burgled and otherwise maltreated. You don't call the police to complain about a restaurant, it's not their job.

Secondly, I think any culture in which "sport eating" has become an actual thing needs to seriously sit down and take stock of itself. There's a reason we don't let people inject smack into their eyeballs, routinely eating half your bodyweight for no better reason than because you can is not a lot healthier than that, and considerably less enjoyable.

That episode always reminds me that Conan O'Brien gets character payments for the Sea Captain since he invented the character, which I always think is kinda neat.

That was a good episode, but I think every season has its fair share of good episodes (yes, even now)

My personal favorite season is 8. I just think it had the most episodes that I've really loved. I mean...come on

Hugo, Hank Scorpio, Rodney Dangerfield as Larry Burns, Mr. Sparkle, The X-Files, Frank Grimes, the list goes on.

Dude, why not link the original story instead of the cut down reprint? It's even linked...

From the original source:

Elizabeth Roeming is a waitress there and says they've tried to work with Bill over the years -- like letting him have a tab he still hasn't paid off.
Sounds like a wonderful customer, he does.

It's not a consumer issue if the advertising is false to exactly one consumer. They made a good-faith effort to meet his demands. If he's still dissatisfied, he can take his business elsewhere.

I'm sure I've heard of similar incidents like this before...I haven't got a single shred of evidence though so I'll end this by saying I like this season of The Simpsons.

Cause a boycott the restaurant by making the story known on an international level.

Yeah, I'm sure that will make a dent in their business.

Yeah he's an idiot. Though I have issues with sea food restaurants in the past. All you can eat crab legs. Oh yes, after my third full bucket they stopped giving me buckets so I put it on my plate, after the forth plate they stopped giving me plates.

Whatever I still ate 70 dollars worth of crab for only 20 dollars. A good deal is a good deal.

He wanted it TO GO, not there. Damn, the nerve people have. I just throw up in the bathroom and eat some more. Roman etiquette and table manners away!
Really? As the person who gets to throw out of the restaurant and clean up after people who do this, I hate you, please don't suggest that it's so disgusting, and the nerve they have saying "But it's all you can eat" Yes, yes it is, therefore if you have to vomit to keep eating you've already had all you can eat and therefore you can get out of here, eh sorry I just really hate it when people do that.

I wrote those lines right after, "The nerve people have". It was meant to be ironical.

Don't worry Mr. it wasn't you, it happens to me all the time in real life, I keep getting eye rolls, I mean people don't even bother explaining jokes to me anymore, they just tell me to shut up when I say I don't get it...

Hmmm, I guess if this dude and folks like him were used as an argument more, I would understand the American aversion to universal healthcare... I wouldn't want my tax money going to pay this fat cunts medical bills either.

(Seriously, in the UK, fatty foods should be taxed in the same way cigarettes are.)

Anyway, fuck it, I'd eat at that place - they deserve the business after putting up with this ****.
the government tried to do that, but research showed (god i love generic "research") that since most low cost food was also said bad food it would end up just being a way to tax the poor. And as such not cool.

Which is quite logical. And i originally shared your viewpoint.
That makes sense... Hmmm, a difficult one to solve, in our western society, given that the cheapest food to buy will inevitably be the cheapest to make, which will be the stuff with all the shit thrown in it.

...

Perhaps some kind of mandatory Physical Training 5 days a week then? ... How to enforce it? Or organise it in such as way as to ensure all can attend? I don't know, I'm just the idea man...

I think something is wrong when you get kicked out of "all you can eat". And it's not wrong with the restaurant. I've eaten two pounds of shrimp and the people were plenty happy to give me more, if I asked.

Wait. People actually do that? I've never heard of that happening. I never even heard of it as a joke.

Huh, it seems I'm in the minority for agreeing with this guy. If the resteraunt sets up an all you can eat buffet, there is going to be the occasonal person who takes all they can eat. Deal with it.

Maybe it would be different if he was throwing up in the bathroom to *ahem* make room for more, but if he's just eating... well the resteraunt could always up the price for the buffet if they're going out of buisness.
