Marco nods sadly. "That's a lot of food." He sighs. "But honestly? Even the best assassians in Nuban would think twice, we just don't have the military, or the Economy, to afford a war right now. If we killed the Emperor, no-one would hire us because of the danger involved." He remarked, setting his plate down and asking for another.

"You imagine correctly, whoever killed Preston was either getting paid an awful lot, or believes they are smart enough to get away with it." Nathanius was unsure of those around him, and kept his hand close to his rapier, the man in the retractable armor suit especially of interest to him, that 2 handed sword could be a problem especially in such close quarters. But knowing the rules of the bar, he had left all affiliations at the door.

"I don't like being called a bigot, I only remark that that woman," nodding in the direction of eye patch, "is still wearing her insignia, and that's of interst to me. I have nothing against any creed..."

"Marco, why are you so hungry, anyway? How long has it been since you've eaten last?"

The food seemed to be sinking into marco, causing him to regain a bit of composure. "Perhaps I was a bit extreme." He extended his hand out to Nathanius. "Marco Vandek, I assure you, I mean no ill will if you mean none." He sighs. "I really don't want anymore bloodshed today, I've had my fill already."

He thought about it for a bit "12 days ago I found some left-over bread on a deserted home I was searching for parts at." He shruged. "Didn't find those parts either."

Nathanius took the offered hand, his smile returning to his lips. "Well, no harm, no foul, as they say. What brings you to this floating mass of humanity at it's finest?" A small squabble had started a few tables away, and the bouncers of the bar were quickly removing the patrons forcibly. Humanity at it's finest indeed...

"You mentioned a deserted home," said Kit,"The man who gave me a ride up here told me that some people leave the Rock to salvage useful things and Minrium from the lands destroyed by the gas. Are you one of those guys?"

"I had found enough money to buy food, this place sells it." He shrugs sheepishly. "I've been looking to set myself with a solid job, but I have a feeling that little intercom annoucment just changed everything for everyone."

He hears kit's question, raises his eyebrows and shakes his head with surprize. "I don't scavange. I'm a Mechanic by trade, but my engine was spewing black smoke, and I needed to find a replacement for a piston. I more or less offer my services as an escort or... well, someone capable of removing other people." He seems sadded by even admitting he kills.

"Well, now put a smile back on that face of yours Marco, an Emperor just died, we've got to stick together in times like this, and as long as we can still smile, it makes the world seem that much better. And yes, that announcement is definitely going to change a lot of our lives."

Just a thought that popped into my head, is it possible to put two or more derigibles together into a larger one? As in connect them mechanically? If so I think we could solve some problems with the engine needing repair and my ship needing an engineer/tough guy.

Marco looked up confused. "You boys looking for mechanic? I have my own Deri (though it's in terrible shape) if your serious."

OOC: Hmmm... I think it's possible, from my understanding of the machines, but the boss will have to decide. Honestly, If quack doesn't even have his own rig, I'd hire me on as a escort ship / mechanic. It would be useful to have two ships.

OOC: That is a good idea. I doubt Kelethor would mind. I'm still kind of confused as to what derigibles actually look like, though.

OOC: I've got the ship, Quack is going to come along to learn, would be useful to have another ship or one that is a bit larger, depending on what Kelethor decides is possible. Also, is it possible to get armor similar to Aln's on a ship?

IC:

"Well, we could always use more. I've got my own ship, the Smithy's Rapier, named for the weapon given to me when I got her, and the fact that ya never shovel more coal into a furnace than when you're working in a smithy's shop or on board a Derigible with a steam engine. I can take you on with Kit and I at least until we get enough to fix up your ship. I'll tell you the same as I told Kit, I don't have money to pay you now, but I'll split the share of any work we can get."

OOC: No, the armor is only built for use on humanoids, and is only used by the Ebon Legion, to make their services far more valuble

OOC again: Besides, it makes my character so much more unique, not to sound pretentious :)

OOC: mostly I just meant retractable armor of some sort, not necessarily identical to the suit there.

Also, as far as I can tell, a derigible is similar to a blimp, try doing a google image search for it, and I guess we wait for Kelethor to get back to find out if that's really what he means by derigible or if he's got another view of it. In the meantime, I think I'm gonna try to draw the Rapier and see if I can post up a pic of it :)

That it does Al

Marco thinks about it for a moment. "My ship isn't in any condition to go anywhere safely... Alright, you got your Mechanic." He smirks, and slowly nods. "But before I go with you. You want me on board, you agree not to accept contracts that include bombing Nuban. That's my rule. If they attack us, it's their fault, but I am not putting their innocent blood on my hands."

My mind is that they are like uniquely shaped planes. (like an X-wing, or a Y-wing, if you'll forgive the Star Wars referance

Edit: Nvm, it was answered while i was typing

"Fair is fair. I'm not much into the bombing runs anyway. I've found courier work is far less dangerous, and depending on the cargo, can be very lucrative as well. I'll bring you and Kit both with me when we head back to the Smithy's Rapier, but for now, we need money, and that means finding work."

"I'll talk to some Nuban Recruiters, they always have jobs open, just don't go flying your flag in their face and they'll be fine. Money is the grand equaliser." His next plate of food arrives, he quickly begins eating.

OOC: Honestly? Imagine gaint blimp battles with rapidfire flintlock pistols and electic rapiers... Thats freaking epic sounding.

OOC: I'd have to agree, I kinda have the image of pirates of the caribbean meets crimson skies with a steampunk twist

OOC: Great idea: think spelljammer from D&D. Normal ships, like galleons or frigates with magic chairs (this might have to be changed into coal furnaces or something) that would make sure we have a referance point

Of course, if we are going for historical accuracy, which we seem to be moderatley following (extending suits and toxic gases capable of poisoning planets aside, then yes, they would be airships, like blimps or zepplins, which would still be interesting.
