What do you have against Hideo!>?theunreliablecritic said:imagine if there was a world where there was no such thing as smoking. I personally think that it would be a great place where less people would die of all of those hideos diseases that smoking can offer.
The smoking and tobacco laws in Ireland are fucking stupid. The government has no fucking right to make those laws. It should be up to the owner of the building.Micklet said:I love living in ireland....we dont let people smoke in places of work, or in cars while driving. basicly outdoors, at least 10ft away from the door and in there own homes are the only places we let them smoke. We dont even let my mam smoke in the house. The only reason its not illegal in most countries is the amount of tax govs make on them. 8.45 a pack in ireland, about 5 goes straight to the gov. It should be illegal, its suicide and murder all in one, your slowly killing yourself and afflictin those around you with second hand smoke. Ive had to give up sports because of second hand smoke from my own mother.
Now I'd enjoy pulling a cigarette out of someone's mouth and stomping on it.Zeithri said:Because no one cares really.Macgyvercas said:It is? Huh. Then why don't the cops nail them?Zeithri said:It is also illegal to smoke at busstops.Macgyvercas said:I think that no smoking in the world is too big a step. Let's start with no smoking at the bus stop. I hate it when people do that. Second hand smoke is evil.
If it's America though, then I don't know.
But it is illegal in Sweden to smoke at busstops, yet everyone who smokes still does that.
Asshats really, but it do give you the oppertunity to either ask them politely or just snatch it from their lips and stomp on it.
There not just in Ireland anymore, there in parts of America, Scotland, England, Italy and Switzerland. We just led the way. And as much as you will state that its your right to do whatever you want to, if you want to live in society you have to live by societys rules, if you all you want to do is crib, then get out. Its as simple as. Smoking, as much as you may enjoy it, is suicide, but on top of that its murder too. Because of "inconsiderate assholes" like my mother and other smokers I cant even go for a jog. Not to mention all the barmen and service industry employees with breathing ailments. Or the sky rocketing cases of asthma in the upcoming generations. Or the fact that CF is at an alltime high, what about those people? There are absolutely no positive affects of smoking either on the body or in society, the amount of revenue lost would be balanced out by the decline in lung related patients being admitted to hospitals. Smokers are a drain on society. Im not having a personal go at you, smokers can be lovely people, ive a good few friends that smoke, just the world would be a better place without smoking.WeedWorm said:The smoking and tobacco laws in Ireland are fucking stupid. Why should it be illegal? Who the hell are you to say what I can and cant put into my body? Ill smoke if I gods damn want to. Smoking should not be illegal just because of a few inconsiderate assholes like your mother.
Live by societys rules? Unfortunately, I have to even if they are a load of shit. Not every rule though keep in mind.Micklet said:There not just in Ireland anymore, there in parts of America, Scotland, England, Italy and Switzerland. We just led the way. the first and last points are potentially a bit iffy, but the other points are crazy!AvsJoe said:Cons:
With no tobacco taxes, government has much less money to work with leading to more budget cuts to schools, hospitals, the military...
People would be angrier leading to more cases of violent crimes and assaults
Other vices such as alcohol, drugs, and (possibly) prostitution would be much worse
Obesity would be even worse in first-world countries
Cancer research wouldn't be as popular leading to less knowledge of the subject

(puts fantasy hat on) They should just develop cigarettes like the ones on Policenauts that don't give off harmful second hand smoke.
