2.5 of being a recognised member - Plus a couple of lurking before that just watching ZP - I think it took me about a year to hit my 1000 post milestone and I've kind of tapered off since then. I still come here most days but I'm finding less and less to post about of late. I seem to be seeing similar threads with less and less discussion value. Then every time I find a thread worth posting in there are about 8 pages of comments for mine to get lost in, but right now I feel like an old man complaining that Xbox Live was better pre-Party Chat, Halo 3 and MW...

Honestly though favourite thing about the Escapist? ZP and Extra Creditz. As good as everything else mentioned may still be, I can't go past the thing that brought me to the site and EC which has got to be one of the best web series that I have seen... Ever...

Maybe it's because I've gotten older, but the majority of threads these days seem to be immature, nerdy tripe.
It was always like that, its just that the trying to look mature, pseudointellectual tripe has moved to religion and politics.

Wow. I just realized that I've been here for half a year. That's like, 15 years in internet time.
The commununity is great, ZP, Extra Credits, and The Big Picture are all good, and contribute to why I'm still here. The articles are intelligent and I can keep up with the latest technology and video game news as well. I guess that's why I'm still here.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'Wuld you shake hands with the charracter of the last game you played if s/he dident wash them after the toilet' or 'why can't real girls be more like anime?' threads. Religion and Politics isn't nearly as bad as it could be.

Yeah, but we had 'em. That's what counts!

May your Escapist lifetime be long and virtuous!

Hey its not my fault I have an itchy banhammer finger, no wait, that is my fault!.

It's what he, I think, purposefully turned in to. He started to hate the direction the site was taking, so he went out with a bang.
No he didn't, the full story is that the "Escapist Celebraty Status" he acquired went to his head, he started off as funny but descended into outright rudeness, he has issues in real life and I think it over spilled into the forums.

I always wonder why people speak about him with such angelic tones, if you want to praise a user about how they act on the Escapist, praise yourself, your awesome, don't praise some Martyr from the past.

The closest person in personality to MaxtheReaper is [user]Hazy[/user], guess what? he's not banned because he's a good guy.

Pah, only a year.
You young'uns. Don't know what it was like, back in the day.
[sub][sub]We had IndigoDingos over there, MactheReapers over here, pah, no respect nowadays...[/sub][/sub]
Oh god, I remember MactheReaper. One of the people that could be an utter asshole, yet still make amazing points and manage to be hilarious.

Today, it's hard to see anyone like that on here.
It was MaxTheReaper.
I've been here for more than two years, and it's starting to wear a bit thin. Maybe it's because I've gotten older, but the majority of threads these days seem to be immature, nerdy tripe. That said, people are still pretty nice here. Group hug.
What was Max banned for again? I saw all these posts of people complaining but I didn't know I was supposed to care.

My favorite thing about the Escapist is either A: Being able to argue without raging and being at least a bit polite or B: The threads where people freak out and actually DO start raging. I never post in them but it's hilarious to read.
Towards the end s/he/it became a bit of a **** and just started inciting flamewars rather than being funny how it used to act and well that is it really.

No, what I meant was that all the trying to look mature, pseudointellectual tripe used to water down the immature nerdy tripe in off topic, there's just as much of the latter as there ever was, it's just that the stuff that used to disguise it a bit has moved to another forum.

Anyone remember MGG=Reviews? He used to post shitloads of horribly written reviews of games "for his friends." And when people actually gave him constructive criticism, he either ignored it or insulted people. And thus, a massive and hilarious flame war began.

"YOU DONKEYS OR CAMELS WITH NO ESSENCE OF LIFE."

"BUNCH OF RETARDED BUNNIES THAT DONT KNOW IF THEY HAD SEX OR A VERCECTERMI."

Ahh, the good old days when I first joined. There are so many things I miss. Forgotten realms, there will be brawl.

I guess that the days have gone when we used to have notable people on the site. Sometimes I miss Max's smarminess, indigodingo's rants and darth möbius and his hissy fits.

Then there were the grammar nazis, the search bar guards and there was so much moderation that you could spend hours looking through threads and seeing what people got banned for

Now this site is a little bit watered down, still fun but perhaps the forums are a little less entertaining. Maybe these changes are for the best though.

I've been here for a decent amount of time, seen a buncha people come and go, and all that reminiscent-y good stuff. But fuck if I can really remember most of it.
But I'm still here after all the changes and whining about them that's gone on. So that either says something about the site itself or my nearly slavish dedication to it.

The thing that keeps me coming back here is the group of people I've come to know. There are quite a few individuals that I simply love bothering, hearing from, and stalking.
