Wait what? Somebody made Ghibli in Minecraft? The Texture Pack must be quite nice.NiPah said:I still think Studio Ghibli's Minecraft wins

I would if I could find them. You know, I haven't found too many people mention other sites around here. Even when I've stated I would like to have selection. In fact, I've never seen too much recommendation on the internet at all. All anyone every says is "why would you want to go anywhere else?".Supertegwyn said:Then maybe you should leave? Find better pastures which can truly appreciate your tastes?
I did hear about NeoGAF a while back on an article here. I tried signing up, but I don't think they're ever going to approve me. I do admit I like most topics there better, and wish I had the ability to post.
I looked "Touhou" up on YouTube, and the largest appeared to be one million. A far cry from "millions and millions".
I have never heard of this series. I know NOBODY who has heard about this but you. Stop insulting those that are ignorant about a niche Japanese game with no English translation.
To be fair, Ghibli has been around since 1985. I'd imagine you've heard of My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away at some point.nikki191 said:you know you are getting old when you spend more time googling words than actually reading the thread..
touhou, ginsakeyo, wapanese, weaboo, Ghibli, hipster.
as for the actual thread topic. well thats an impressive creation and from the original posters reaction i take it they did an extraordinary job of recreating it.
Oh really then? I'd definitely recommend watching some of their films. They really have a timeless quality and aren't as juvenile despite usually being centered around a young protagonist. Maybe Grave of the Fireflies or Only Yesterday would be a good place to start. Princess Mononoke is also very good.nikki191 said:haha nopeaxlryder said:To be fair, Ghibli has been around since 1985. im 39 so i grew up watching japanese cartoons like robotech and starblazers on saturday mornings, most recent ones ive seen was akira when it was released on vhs for the cyberpunk elements and neon genesis evangelion.
the whole manga, anime, japanese obsession culture hit long after i was a teenager so i missed it and never had a reason to look into it
well no one's going to string you up for having an opinion (even though I wholeheartedly disagree with itLovely Mixture said:Ghibli is overrated anyway. They don't deserve recognition.
I'm not sure why I feel so content posting something so controversial.
All I could think when I read this was, "Wooooooooooooooooooo! I must have!"Blargh McBlargh said:OP needs to look up Middle Earth in Minecraft.
They re-created the Mines of Moira on a 1-to-1 scale, as well as the rest of Middle Earth
How are we uncivil we stated that we didn't know what that place was and instead of doing the smart thing and giving us links or explaining, maybe making more fans for the series, you say things like:LilithSlave said:See, this is the problem. If I said things like this, I would have been being aggressive.Dfskelleton said:pretending to deny the glorious light of Touhou that literally puts every other video game in existence to shame.
But I never said anything like this and these statements are complete strawmans, aggressive, and not very civil. I didn't even mention anything about how good Touhou is, I mentioned that I liked it. But I didn't say anything about the quality. I said that it was famous and that I was surprised that users here haven't heard of it.
I have visited dozens of communities, not anime related of course, and this is the first one I've visited where the majority of people hadn't heard of it. So this outrage and viciousness towards my surprise is completely unwarranted. And to be honest, wholly uncivil.
Plus I don't think it's a meme that drawfs ponies, stop making false claims before I set us up the bomb.If this is true, and I still assert that I'm being trolled. Well... I didn't realize it were possible for my opinion of the Escapist to go any lower.
There are bots out there that do the job for you.Bvenged said:Yeap, I haven't a clue what "Gensokyo" is.
Also, I see these people building things such as: a replica of Middle Earth, a castle the size of a city, and 128bit parallel processors; but where the hell do they get the time to make these things? Haven't they got to place them block-by-block ever in the flying, infinite supplies Minecraft creation mode?
Crazy dedication right there, whatever it is they've recreated.
Speak for yourself.. I'm getting the...ropes--wait, what's that you say, captcha?axlryder said:well no one's going to string you up for having an opinion (even though I wholeheartedly disagree with itLovely Mixture said:Ghibli is overrated anyway. They don't deserve recognition.

It got me as well bud.Abandon4093 said:Seriously, why the fuck do I never check who makes a thread? This has got to be like the third time I've accidentally been glued to the trainwrecks that are this persons threads.
Just because we don't know about some Japanese game, doesn't mean you need to get snippy. Surprisingly, not everyone online is a crazed Japan fan.LilithSlave said:If this is true, and I still assert that I'm being trolled. Well... If you want to look up what it is, all the information is in this thread. Therefor I don't need to tell you anything more. It is arguable the most famous shooting game in the world. Or certainly one of them. And I am one of several million hardcore fans that have been following it religiously for probably around a decade or close to it.
