I remember playing Gex 3 Deep cover gecko, it was awesome !
Idk how popular it is though.
One of the first games I played. =D
That game was freaking awesome! It was one of the first games I can remember playing. :D

OT: Whiplash. Quite possibly one of the most under-rated games I have ever played that was undeniably awesome. Tell me a game that allows you to use a rabbit as a weapon isn't awesome. Also, still looks good after about 7 years. [http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/whiplash_100703_02_640w.jpg]

NOTE: If any of these aren't as unknown as I think, please tell me.
Abe's Oddyssey and Abe's Exoddus.
40 Winks wasn't a bad PS1 game.
Destruction Derby on PS1
Rollcage.
Gex games
Syphon Filter,
Soccer Kid
Parappa the Rapper
Lemmings
Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games.
Medievil.
Soul Reaver.
Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time
Worms
I do just think you made me have a massive nostalgia attack. I remember playing all of those I listed, especially Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time and Soccer Kid. Damn, I lost hours to Soccer Kid.

Body Harvest for the N64. I found that game incredibly fun. The graphics kind of sucked but the weapon and vehicle selection was vast and enjoyable, the puzzles were fun and engaging, the story was a bit iffy at times but still acted as a compelling plot vehicle and the sound track was one of the creepiest I've ever heard.

It was made by the same people who went on to develop the Grand Theft Auto series and a lot of the innovative features of Body Harvest ending up being defining parts of the GTA series. I had far more fun with Body Harvest than I have had with any GTA game though.
I loved Body Harvest, even now the soundtrack is hauntingly good. I never did get to the future though.

I hate to say it, but a lot of these aren't really 'Abstract or virtually unheard of'
I mean, Lemmings, Bubsy, Pikmin? They aren't exactly unheard of.

I'll put my vote in for Rescue On Fractulus, so many hours spend in the dark electrocuting monsters!

Stubbs the zombie: Rebel without a pulse for the original xbox. the only zombie game where you get be the zombie. good times....
That's a fun game, but at the end when they started to reduce the number of humans out there it started to become a pain and lose a little fun.

I remember playing all the gold box AD&D games from back in the day, also Warhammer 40K Chaos Gate I still play it, its a X-com Clone where you control Ultramarines Vs Word Bearer Space Marines. The Assault Marines and Librarian where a little OP, but the game despite not being overly difficult was a blast.

You have a point there. However it was fun to posses the guys with the big fancy lazers.

It's hardly unknown, but Beyond Good & Evil is a game I had to track down on the internet to get a copy of, played it to death, and loved every second of it. When I heard that a sequel might be on the way, I nearly orgasmed, and when I heard that it might not happen, I nearly died. It's a fantastic game that very few people bothered to play.
I wanted to love it but only one person I knew had a computer that could support it and it was a high-powered franken 'puter.

Other obscure games: Dinotopia 1, Below the Root (awesomeness), Culdcept 1, Mr. Mosquito, mmm I can't think of more right now.

I got a couple:

Battle Realms, even to this day, is still one of my favourite RTS's simply because of it's 'unit alchemy' game mechanic.

And MDK is still a Shiny gold coin in a treasure chest of dull silver.
...see what I did there?

Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty.

It was the original RTS, released by westwood years before C&C, based on the Dune world. Brilliant. 3 factions to choose from, and gameplay was much more balanced than any other RTS I've played since.

The title was briefly revived for a short while quite a few years ago, completely revamped and had the visuals brought up to (at the time current) standards. Released under the title Dune: 2000. There was also an expansion pack for it.

Our modern rigs are waaaaaayyyyyy too powerful for the original, but the updated version is definitely worth checking out.
Ah, I remember Dune 2000. Still have it somewhere, too.

I'm not sure if it's completely unknown, but I've never known anyone to mention D&D: Heroes for the original xbox. I liked it alot.
