As far as I know, games set during WWII exist in every genre except sports (obviously) and JRPGs (there are some Western RPGs like Silent Storm).

My personal number one is Company of Heroes (Real-time strategy). According to Steam I've sunk over 300 hours in that game.

Call of Duty 2. Nothing will ever compare to that D-Day mission. Ever.

Valkyrie Chronicles is pretty close to a JRPG I'd say in many aspects. Not sure if it's WWII exactly though as I haven't played more then the demo =\

Anyway, as much as I dislike CoD games now, CoD:United Offensive is probably my favourite WWII game. That was amazing when it came out, and I can still enjoy it today every once in a while.

BF1942 is also very close up there... Good times.

i'd have to say turning point: fall of liberty or the saboteur. first is technically ww2, and had some badass environment kills. drowning a nazi in a toilet he was just most likely masturbating into, judging by the pinup mag on the floor? fuckin gold. and i enjoy blowing stuff up, especially nazi stuff. like nazis. ohm and over the shoulder and tps, respectively.

Medal of Honor:Frontline

The first shooter I ever played. I retain some fun memories of it and the game just stuck with me. I can remember trying to be Jimmy Patterson(The played character) in RL. I would put on my army helmet and get one of my toy guns and pretend to be fighting the Germans.

Innocent times. :)

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, I was stunned when I first played that game and still go back to it today.

Either Company of Heroes or Call of Duty: World at War. It's a shame W@W didn't have British campaign though.

The first Medal of Honor game, since this was basically the first time that WW2 was presented in such a "realistic" fashion in a videogame. Omaha beach was a punch in the gut at the time, and I may be one of the only people in the world who actually found Sniper Town one of the most atmospheric moments in gaming history.

Also, Kudos to CoD1. Back when shooters had perspetive and pacing, a tank was a terrifying thing whose appearance through the rubble required a buildup. They really rocked that shit.

Company of Heroes, hands down.

I haven't played too many WWII games, but it's by far the most engaging. I like Brothers in Arms, too, as well as Day of Defeat. CoH wins, though, mainly due to their voice-acting.

Men of War: Assault Squad. I loved Company of Heroes until I played that, takes it to another level.

FPS-wise, Call of Duty: United Offensive. Epic stuff.

Battlefield 1942. I had so much fun with that game, and in my opinion, it is, as of yet, by far the greatest Battlefield game. I reckon Battlefield 3 has a small chance of surpassing it, but that is besides the point.

Call of Duty: World at War. The only negaive part was the damn german sniper on Veteran. A shot to the head, "You only grazed him!" That and Nazi Zombies cannot be beat.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein...it adds the necessary spice to an otherwise boring piece of military history (that's not all WWII is, mind you, it's just pretty much all that is depicted in videogames).
