There's a major difference though. When most people hear about drugs, they automatically think they are bad and will support any government action against them. People know why drugs are dangerous. Piracy is different. It's a threat to big corporations, not the average citizen. Many people won't understand why the government takes such a harsh stance against it, especially when it requires them to sacrifice their privacy. As a result it won't have the support of the public. The Government understands this.
Well they are using "child pornography" as an excuse in the Australian one. I'm sure many deluded people might believe in that, as they believe in the 'war' on drugs.

All in all, I believe that there is no way this will get through, and if it does, it won't last very long.
Australian one? What do you mean?

I live in Australia, and yes, child molesterers are on the news everyday. My Mum frequently warns (lectures) me of the dangers of strangers.

Holy shit that guy yelled at a camera for 8 and a half minutes.

Fucking American corporations thinking that they own the world becuase they have thier pieces of paper and shit.

The internet is like the worlds bordertown. If they take it away THATS FUCKED.
I think the most important point that the angry aussie brought up against A.C.T.A. is that it serves the companies more than the artists. The very same companies that fuck artists up the ass daily.

You see it all the time with popular music. The corporations bring artists in and out so quickly its not funny. All to make a quick $. Ruining many talented artists dreams.

won't happen, Anonymous would divide by zero if this did. And i doubt it would work net neutrality has been a pretty much prevailing ideology. And secondly...i'm quite certain there is no real way to enforce ALL internet traffic all at once and therefore no way to enforce the law.

secondly this law is VERY unconstitutional, illegal search? err totally going to happen...not.

Well I feel absolutely powerless and utterly pounded raw in the ethical ass. I predict that if the governments around the world come down this hard on our human rights regarding privacy and data sharing, it will not be pretty. People don't like being oppressed, I sure as hell know I'm looking for insane illogical but extreme methods to make a stand regarding this and won't be the only one. If people start being carted off to jail on ACCUSATIONS getting given the same penalties as actual illegal downloaders we're facing the kind of prejudice that we see time and time again with dictators and personal pet peeves that end up getting people killed on bullshit terms. Also, who the fuck is this ACTA, that they can slide into global congress and bypass all current governmental systems and manipulate every law in the world? No other single entity has ever been that effective at uniting all the nations governments, especially while simultaniously alienating every single civilian. Essentially giving us nowhere to run. This is rights taken to an extreme. The government already brain wash with the ideas we only have a set list of things we are capable of doing, and outside we dissapear into the clutches of the beast. Now, these rights are slowly becoming more constrained and universal. There will be rioting if everything that was predicted takes place. There will be futher overcrowding in the jails, cell after cell crammed with innocents and for that matter simply copyright pirates whom are hardly the worst humanity have to offer. Most are damned decent hard working people. Do they sincerely think that non of the police force or indeed MPs, Congressmen, and other world politicians, torrent. If this comes to pass, the best way to fight it, is to torrent. If you have internet access torrent until you're ISP has to clear the server systems and deny service due to traffic overflow. Torrenting is the way forward to fight this legislation. They can write whatever they want on a piece of paper, but what we actually do dictates our "rights". If this comes to pass, we must go on the offensive. The next step for them would be to futher restrict and enforce more heavily the "rights" they have put in place. Directly affecting our daily computer us all the way to militant enforcment. But to be honest I don't want to live in a world where ACTA is able to spread its foul stench of corruption. I'll read through more of your comments to get a better idea on the reaction. This is war >.<

Edit: I apologise regarding some spelling errors and grammatical errors. Also that there is no formatting whatsoever. I was in crazed fury fueled blood lust while simultaniously trying to make a system hierarchy graph for Computing.
